The rally began with numerous chants condemning the genocide and unjust detention of Shaikh Ibrahim El-Zakzaky. Amnesty International said the 45-day deadline given for releasing Sheikh Ibrahim Zakzaky expires on Monday. The rights group warned if the Nigerian government deliberately disregards the orders of its own courts, it will demonstrate a dangerous contempt of the rule of law. Amnesty also called Zakzaky’s imprisonment unlawful and said the move might be part of a larger plan by the Nigerian government to cover up the gruesome crimes committed by its forces in Zaria in December 20-15. At least 350 Shias were killed when Nigerian forces raided Zakzaky\'s house in Zaria. He and his wife have been in detention since then without charge. Shia Muslims trekked hundreds of kilometers from many parts of Nigeria to the headquarters of the Islamic movement of Nigeria in the northern city of Zaria to commemorate the Arba\'een. Those who could not walk were carried. The physically challenged used their wheelchairs. The Arba\'een commemorates 40th day since the martyrdom of Imam Hussein and seventy two of his loyal companions in Karbala around 14 centuries ago.
