Any westerners believe that the Spring Uprising happened because western governments have told them these 3 countries,(Syria, Egypt and Libya), want their rights. However sometimes even seeing is not believing. On tonight\'s chapter of \'Genocide\' we go
through the minimum 10 year buildup to the \'peaceful protests\'. You won\'t find any sound bites here, no one liners, no fake controversy. Yes, you\'ll only see people and hear the words straight from their mouth as western governments from North America to the United Kingdom announce they will take the middle east by force if necessary.

Israel has approved 3,500 new settler homes in the occupied East Jerusalem Al-Quds and the West Bank, a move that the EU said it \\\"deplored\\\", recalling that settlements were illegal under international law. The UN has voiced the same, and the PA has said Israel intends to wreck the so called peace talks. In this debate, we will discuss why this repeated scenario, along with Israel\\\'s illegal actions exercised on Palestinians on occupied lands continues, with impunity.

Israel issues tenders for more settler units in the West Bank and East Jerusalem al-Quds. Settlement watchdog, Peace Now says the tenders were published for a total of 18-hundred-59 settler units. According to the NGO, about two-fifths of the units will be built in occupied east Jerusalem al-Quds. The announcement comes only days after Israel gave the final approval for 15-hundred new settler units in east Jerusalem al-Quds. Israel\'s settlement activities have been a main obstacle in the so-called peace talks between the Palestinian Authority and Tel Aviv. The Palestinian Authority has condemned the move as a flagrant violation of international law, saying it plans to turn to the UN Security Council and international courts to stop Israel\'s illegal activities. Israel\'s settlement activities are illegal under international law.

Pakistani officials have strongly condemned a deadly US drone attack in the country\'s north-west.
Pakistan\'s Foreign Ministry said in a statement that such attacks are a violation of the country\'s sovereignty and territorial integrity. It also said the airstrikes have negative impacts on Islamabad\'s efforts to bring peace to the country. The statement was issued after a US drone attack on a seminary killed at least six people in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province. The US carries out assassination drone strikes in several Muslim countries including Pakistan, Afghanistan, Yemen, and Somalia. It claims they target militants but many civilians have lost their lives so far in the air raids.

Iranian Parliamentarians say that human rights has become a tool in the hands of the West to pressure other countries. Human Rights Resolution proposed by Canada against Iran was adopted on December 18th. Iranian parliamentarians talked about the resolution after they came back from vacation this week. The resolution was approved with 86 votes in favor, 36 against and 61 abstentions, expressing concern over alleged human rights violations in Iran. Iranian representatives say the move does not aim in any way to enhance rights conditions. They say human rights has been politicized and this is damaging to those who have dedicated their lives to create better living conditions for all individuals without a political motive.

Bahrain is the scene of yet another anti-government rally. The protest west of Manama was joined by the leader of the main opposition bloc Al-Wefaq.
Sheikh Ali Salman attended the rally in the village of Shakhora to condemn the jailing of photographers and activists by the Al Khalifa regime. The protest comes as Manama continues its brutal crackdown against opposition leaders and activists calling for democratic change in the Persian Gulf Kingdom. The Al Khalifa regime has detained hundreds of opposition activists since the revolution started in 20-11. Scores of protesters have died in the crackdown and many others have been given lengthy jail sentences for attending anti-regime protests.

Hamas Prime Minister Ismail Haniya has reached out to West Bank rivals Fatah, saying its members will be allowed back into Gaza, in an effort to promote Palestinian reconciliation.
Haniya stated that the Hamas government will allow all Fatah members who are from the Gaza Strip and who left the territory in 2007 to return, without any precondition. But the Hamas prime minister made exceptions for those accused of killing Hamas members during intense factional fighting that year. Haniya had a phone conversation with Fatah leader and acting Palestinian authority chief Mahmoud Abbas in October, during which he called for a resolution of their dispute and a QUOTE return to national unity.

Israel approves plans to build more than two thousand new settler units in Jerusalem al-Quds and the occupied West Bank. As Israeli soldiers hand out more eviction orders to Palestinian families, we\'re asking is Tel Aviv under enough international pressure to stop its settlement activities that the UN has called illegal? Are the US-brokered talks between Israel and the Palestinian Authority doomed? I\'m Homa Lezgee and you\'re watching the Debate.
Guests:
- Political Activist & Commentator, Kevin Ovenden (London).
- Senior Fellow, Hudson Institute, Richard Weitz (Washington).
Subjects:
1- Some observers say Israel\'s settlement expansions at this point in time are in fact meant to undermine talks since Israel is not interested in a two-state solution...do you agree?
2- Is a two-state solution possible?
3- Israel\'s economy minister Naftali Benner has said a two-state solution will harm Tel Aviv and that the establishment of an independent Palestinian state will destroy Israel\'s economy...what does that say about Israel\'s willingness for talks to get anywhere?
4- There was some friction between Tel Aviv and Washington when an Israeli minister said John Kerry\'s proposal on the Jordan Valley wasn\'t worth the paper it was written on and suggested that Kerry was naïve. How have the settlement expansions effected US-Israeli relations?
5- Is the US going to put enough pressure on Israel to stop the settlement expansions?
6- \"Israel teaching the US a lesson since the Obama administration is being a bit too serious\"...
7- What do you think about the EU position against settlements? Will a growing boycott, divestment and sanctions campaign help?
8- Should Israel be taking the academic and economic sanctions more seriously?
9- Similarities between Israel and South African apartheid regime...
10- How long is this stalemate going to last? How long can Israel continue to defy international law?
