UNESCO has awarded its annual peace prize to French President Francois Hollande, following his decision to invade Mali without UN approval in order to support a regime installed by a military coup. Hollande claims the war was necessary to prevent a couple thousand religious extremists from conquering a nation of 15 million people.
Since 1960 the French military has intervened in Africa almost 60 times, but until now they had never won a peace prize for their efforts. There has been vast criticism over UNESCO\'s choice on multiple levels. Many feel UNESCO ignored how the Malian intervention fits in the context of France\'s imperialist history in West Africa, and also how Hollande has openly admitted that the Mali war is needed to safeguard French business interests in the region.
Many are concerned that UNESCO is being used to legitimize a so-called \"just war\", a concept that denies the importance of peaceful diplomacy and makes hasty foreign interventions acceptable.

MATERIAL: Six Stranded Embroidery Floss (DMC Brand)
PATTERN INFO:
This is just a simple candy stripe.
You will need 4 colors cut about 20\\\" (inches) long for practicing purposes.
If you are more advanced make sure you cut your strings about 55\\\" (inches) long (and then folded to form a loop) so you have enough string to make a complete bracelet with ties. Remember, you can also double up on colors to make a thicker stripe.
Just set them up as 1 2 3 4 (or 11 2 33 2 for the thumbnail) and starting with the first string on the left (always) make three forward knots across the bracelet. When you get to the end pick up the new first string and repeat the forward knotting across the other three strings.
Continue forward knotting across until the desired length is achieved!

According to the statement by President Rousseff addressing the nation she is going to bring thousands of foreign doctors to improve the national health system, but still many of the protester are not satisfied. According to a poll released this weekend, the vast majority of the protesters are now calling for more vigorous laws to eradicate corruption. They are also calling for the cancellation of a proposed bill that would take away from the Courts the power to investigate and punish corrupt members of the Congress. Protests\' organizers said on Friday that they no longer call for new protests. Changing their minds in just two days, they\'ve now announced plans for new demonstrations starting from next week. They\'ve also said that this time round no one will leave the streets until the promises, which president Rousseff made on T-V, are fulfilled.
