According to a report by the interfaith organization Faith Matters, there were around 60,000 British Muslim converts in 2001. Whereas that number has now shot up to about 100,000. 55% of these converts are white. And 62% of them are female

Last year, the UK government introduced full body scanners that are now in use in all major airports including Heathrow and Manchester. The rapid introduction of these scanners has caused fury amongst child protection and privacy campaigners and has particularly distressed the Muslim population. How should Muslims respond to airport body scanners?

The Libyan leader Colonel Gaddafi is promising more violence if US or NATO forces dare to intervene, while the US is preparing for a humanitarian mission in Libya and the UK has already started one. Annie Machon, a former British intelligence officer now living in Germany, says that all humanitarian aid is just an excuse for "a large-scale invasion." She added that foreign intervention into Libya will be a tragedy for the Libyan people.

The London Police has crashed protesters who are frustrated over spending cuts that could leave up to half a million people out of work.

100 to 300 thousand people are expected to take part in what's set to be the UK's biggest political demonstration for a decade. Mass protests are planned across the British capital to oppose the government's 80 billion pound spending cuts. The austerity measures are part of a treasury initiative to eliminate the country's huge budget deficit in just four years.

The UN says its alarmed by the looming humanitarian crisis in Libya. Officials warn food supply lines have been disrupted and over three hundred thousand refugees have already fled the country. Nigel Farage, MEP and leader of the UK Independence Party believes the whole military strategy in Libya has not been thought through.
