Reports say at least 20 pro-Morsi protesters have been arrested during clashes in the port city of Alexandria.

The U-S and Britain have suspended military assistance to the so-called Free Syrian Army in northern Syria after al-Qaeda-linked insurgents seized the weapons depots belonging to the F-S-A there. The so-called Islamic Front, which is an umbrella group of al-Qaeda-affiliated rings, captured the arms depots of the Western-backed Free Syrian Army. The seizure near the Bab el-Hawa border crossing with Turkey came after the Islamic Front, which is backed by regional allies of the U-S, announced that it rejected the authority of the F-S-A command. The militant group was formed just last month when six insurgent groups merged together to try and create a new Islamic Emirate in the crisis-hit Arab country.

National dialog in Bahrain fails. Manama has suspended negotiations with Shia opposition leaders as anti-monarchy demonstrations continue in the kingdom. The country\'s state news agency, B-N-A says the national dialog ended after the opposition said it would not participate in talks. The opposition\'s decision came after security forces arrested the secretary general of the main opposition party, Al-Wefaq. Authorities have charged Khalil Al Marzooq with inciting and advocating terrorism in his speeches. The opposition denies the charges. Meanwhile, fresh pro-democracy protests have been held in several towns including in Sanabis and Samahis. Manama, has so far refused to heed the nation\'s demand and responded with a harsh security crackdown. Security forces have killed dozens of protesters and injured many more.

The European Union will immediately lift some of its economic sanctions against Iran now that the country has suspended enrichment of uranium to the 20-percent purity level at Natanz and Fordow nuclear sites. The International Atomic Energy Agency confirmed that these measures implemented the first steps of the historic agreement reached between Iran, the United States, China, Russia, Britain, France and Germany last November. The Islamic Republic has also started the process to dilute and oxidize its 196-kilos stockpile of 20-percent-enriched uranium. In exchange, the EU and the United States have agreed they will gradually release blocked funds.

Israel's approval for building 1,600 new housing units for ultra-Orthodox Jews in East Jerusalem has infuriated the Palestinians. Nabil Abu Rudeina, a Palestinian Authority spokesman, told the AFP news agency: "This is a dangerous decision and will hinder the negotiations." The Israeli anti-settlement group Peace Now condemned the new project, saying it would "widen the gap with the Palestinians and the two-state solution, which risks becoming obsolete". According to Israel's Haaretz newspaper, some 50,000 housing units are reported to be in various stages of planning and approval on occupied land in East Jerusalem. Haaretz says plans for around 20,000 apartments are already in an advanced stage. A spokesman for the Israeli interior ministry said: "The Jerusalem District Planning Committee today approved a plan which has been in the works for over three years. "This is a procedural stage in the framework of a long process that will yet continue for some time. The committee meeting was determined in advance and there is no connection to US Vice-President Joe Biden's visit to Israel." There are still various planning hurdles for the East Jerusalem project to clear, and work is not thought likely to start for at least another two years. Under pressure from the US, Israel has agreed a 10-month suspension of new building in the West Bank. However, the moratorium excludes East Jerusalem, where the Palestinians want as the capital of their future state. Israel's continued expansion of settlements is one of the biggest obstacles to the resumption of peace talks with the Palestinians, now suspended for more than a year despite months of US-led shuttle diplomacy.

How does it work? Batteries are comprised of two different metals suspended in an acidic solution. With the Fruit-Power Battery, the two metals are zinc and copper. The zinc is in the galvanization of the nail, and the penny is actually copper-plated zinc. The acid comes from the citric acid inside the lemon. The two metal components are electrodes, the parts of a battery where electrical current enters and leaves the battery. With a zinc and copper set-up, the current will flow out of the penny and into the nail. The electricity also passes through the acidic solution inside the lemon. US Secretary of State, John Kerry has visited Egypt in his first trip to country since the ouster of president Mohamed Morsi. The US government had suspended millions of dollars of aid to the Egyptian government in response to Morsi\\\'s ouster by the military. However, during a press conference held by Kerry and the Egyptian Foreign Minister Nabil Fahmy, Kerry said the suspension of aid was not a punishment but a legal requirement by American law in case of the removal of a democratically-elected president by force.

Now to Pakistan, where authorities have extended a curfew in the city of Rawalpindi, two days after clashes left at least nine people dead and nearly 70 others injured. The curfew was clamped in the northern city hours after gunmen opened fire at Shia Muslims who were holding Ashura processions. Right now all the main entry points into Rawalpindi have been blocked by containers as the Shia community prepares to hold funerals for the victims. In the capital Islamabad, telecommunication authorities have suspended mobile phone services. Army troops have also been deployed to Multan in the eastern Punjab province where one person was shot dead. Meanwhile, Pakistani government has ordered the Lahore High Court to launch an independent probe into the violence.

Tensions between Ukraine, Europe and Russia are running high over Kiev\'s decision to suddenly scrap plans to sign a deal with the European Union. Russia is now accusing the Europeans of blackmailing Kiev to sign an association agreement with the EU. The Russian president says the E-U is using threats and pressure to shift Ukraine out of Russia\'s orbit. Vladimir Putin has also criticized the E-U for supporting protests against scrapping the deal. Putin made the comments shortly after the E-U accused Kiev of bowing to Russian pressure. On Thursday, Ukraine suspended signing the association agreement with Europe, citing economic concerns and trade issues with Russia. The decision has sparked protests in Kiev. Demonstrators have taken to the streets to oppose the government move, with the opposition leaders joining the rallies.

A panel resumes voting on the final draft of a new constitution for Egypt. The current panel includes representatives from civil society, political parties, the army, police, and the Coptic church. The new constitution is expected to spark controversy, as it will strengthen the army\'s hand. It will also forbid the formation of parties based on religious grounds. Egypt\'s interim authorities suspended the previous constitution written during Mohamed Morsi\'s presidency after his removal on July 3.

Egypt\'s 50-member committee tasked with writing the country\'s new constitution finishes voting on the amended national charter. Among many others, the panel has approved a controversial article that allows civilians to be tried in military courts. The new draft also bans the formation of parties based on religious grounds. It also specifies that the defense minister must be appointed in agreement with the military. Based on the new charter, procedures for the first election, either presidential or parliamentary, must begin between 30 to 90 days after the adoption of the constitution. Egypt\'s interim authorities suspended the previous constitution written during Morsi after his removal from power on July 3.

The European Union says it\'s ready to suspend some sanctions against Iran as soon as experts check that Tehran is implementing the terms of the Geneva deal. The bloc says it backs the deal as a sign of the commitment of all sides to build trust over Iran\'s nuclear activities. A statement from EU foreign ministers says a swift implementation of the voluntary measures by all sides is now key. The statement also adds that Iran has to implement its commitments in good faith and the EU is committed to suspending sanctions as set out in the deal. The bloc says sanctions will be suspended after inspectors from the International Atomic Energy Agency verify the implementation of nuclear-related measures by Iran.

E-U leaders hold their last meeting in 20-13 in Brussels. They have been discussing a wide range of issues including a suspended controversial trade agreement with Ukraine.
