Russian President Putin criticized the US for its intent to strike Syria without showing evidence that the attacks were carried out by the Assad regime He says that keeping evidence a secret supposedly for security reasons is a smokescreen because in fact there is no evidence He appealed to Obama as a Nobel Peace Prize winner to consider the annihilation of peace after invading Iraq Afghanistan and Libya We do not consider Putin to be the champion of truth and virtue but in this case we agree totally with his remarks

What we are witnessing on the ground in Bangladesh today is rooted several decades ago when Bangladesh originally gained its independence from Pakistan in 1971. There were many who are now called Bangladeshis, who were against getting independence from Pakistan to begin with. And now we see the battle lines still drawn, as the government has convicted several opposition members to death for their actions more than 40 years ago to prevent independence. Now the opposition is asking the government to step down, and has called a strike, as clashes have taken the lives of several Bangladeshis. Stay with us as we take a close up look at the situation in Bangladesh on this The Debate.

Scores of people have been injured as riot police in Bangladesh used tear gas and rubber bullets against opposition supporters on the third and final day of a general strike.
A senior officer was seriously injured in the capital Dhaka when protesters hurled a small explosive device at a group of riot police. At least 16 people have been killed in political violence since Friday. The main opposition party led by former premier Khaleda Zia, who has close relations with military leaders, is demanding that a caretaker administration oversee an election scheduled for January. Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina has instead proposed an all-party interim government led by her to oversee the January polls. She says previous caretaker governments have paved the way for a military coup.

The Leader of Iran\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\'s Islamic Revolution says the United States has lost its political and military power and turned into a country grappling with its biggest economic and financial problems. He was addressing a group of school and university students on the occasion of Student Day in Iran. Ayatollah Seyyed Ali Khamenei said the U-S is suffering from political problems and divisions which led to the recent shutdown of the federal government. The Leader noted that Iran\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\'s current economic hardships pale in comparison with those of the US administration. Ayatollah Khamenei said US officials made projections some 11 years ago about having 14-thousand billion dollars in extra revenues by 2011 or 2012, and that now, in practice, they are suffering from a huge 17-thousand billion dollar deficit. Iran\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\'s Leader said that this alone shows America\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\'s true economic situation and the inaccuracy of their official calculations. Ayatollah Khamenei also made mention of deep divisions among Washington\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\'s allies, saying that the U-S has failed to convince even its closest partners like France or Britain to back its decision on launching a strike against Syria.

Pakistan\'s prime minister says US drone attacks violate his country\'s sovereignty, international laws and Islamabad\'s efforts to bring peace and stability to the region.
In his first public comments since the US killing of a pro-Taliban leader, Nawaz Sharif warned that peace can not be achieved by unleashing quote senseless force. He made the remarks ahead of a cabinet meeting to deliberate an appropriate response to the killing of Hakimullah Mehsud. Friday\'s deadly drone strike happened as Islamabad was working to hold peace talks with pro-Taliban militants in Pakistan. There are now fears that his killing could jeopardize the talks.

Pro-Taliban militants in Pakistan are threatening a new wave of attacks against the government after naming their new leader Mullah Fazlullah.
Fazlullah was appointed chief of the group on Thursday, nearly a week after a U-S drone strike killed his predecessor, Hakim-ullah Mehsud. The new leader is known for his fierce rejection of talks with Islamabad. The militant group has also said that it will target army and government installations in the Punjab province. Pro-Taliban militants have increased their attacks across Pakistan since Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif came to power in May.

A woman was among the dead in the attacks in Nuristan province. Two other civilians including a child were also injured. Officials say the victims had no links to militants. Earlier in the day, a U-S drone strike killed two people in eastern Kunar province. Police say those killed were Taliban members. However in many other similar cases, civilians were found to be the main victims. Civilian killings at the hands of foreign forces have been a source of friction between Kabul and Washington since the US-led invasion of Afghanistan.

France says the European Union would likely lift some sanctions on Iran in December as part of a nuclear deal between Tehran and the five permanent members of the UN Security Council plus Germany.
Foreign Minister Laurent Fabuius has said that in a few weeks time, the EU foreign ministers would sit down for talks over the partial removal of sanctions on Iran. He noted that the lifting of sanctions would be limited, targeted and reversible. France\'s top diplomat also described as unlikely any strike on Iran by Israel, saying no one would understand such an attack at this stage. On Sunday, Iran signed an agreement with the United States, Russia, China, Britain, France and Germany over its nuclear program in Geneva. Under the deal-- the first of its kind in a decade, Iran will limit its nuclear program in return for the loosening of sanctions.

The United States is said to be backing away from a December 31 deadline for signing the controversial security deal with Afghanistan.
American and Afghan officials say the Obama administration is going to wait in order to strike the deal that will allow it to keep its troops in Afghanistan beyond the 2014 withdrawal deadline. The decision, however, is being viewed as an embarrassing turn following weeks of threats by US officials that a complete withdrawal is possible if President Hamid Karzai refuses to sign the pact. The Afghan president came under additional pressure after NATO chief urged him to sign the deal with the US or there will be no agreement with the military alliance either. Karzai has warned that he will not allow continued foreign presence if it means more bombs and civilian killings.

The Afghan president calls for a quick end to the US drone airstrikes and military operations in his country.
President Hamid Karzai renewed the demand during a meeting with a fact-finding team probing a recent US strike in the eastern Parwan province. The inquiry said earlier that the aerial attack killed 14 civilians, mostly kids. Anger has been simmering among the Afghan public and officials over an escalation in US-led strikes in civilian areas. Afghans have held numerous protests nationwide against such attacks. President Karzai has time and again slammed the drone strikes which mostly result in civilian deaths.

The Leader of Iran\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\'s Islamic Revolution Ayatollah Seyyed Ali Khamenei has urged all Muslims to stand up against efforts aimed at weakening their unity.
Ayatollah Khamenei warned that Islam\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\'s enemies are trying to divide Muslims and promote extremism in the name of Islam. The leader said the adversaries\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\' main goal is to divert Muslims\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\' attention from Palestine. Arrogant powers have been trying for more than six decades to wipe off the name of Palestine, but to no avail. Iran\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\'s leader said that during the latest Israeli wars on Gaza and Lebanon, the Muslim community managed to strike a heavy blow to the Israeli regime and its masters and supporters. Ayatollah Khamenei described Israel as an oppressive and murderous regime.

Minister of Defense Brigadier General Hossein Dehqan says a new generation of ballistic missile with a fragmentation warhead is the first of the missiles tested on Monday. The missile can evade radar systems and is capable of causing great destruction. A laser-guided missile, dubbed Bina, which is from the class of surface-to-surface and air-to-surface missiles, has also been tested. Bina has been designed for use against bridges, tanks, command centers and other military targets. It can be fired from a plane or a boat to strike military targets with great precision.
