Turkey has sent over 47 tons of weaponry to insurgents in Syria since June. Based on UN records, Turkey has sent varying amounts of guns to militant groups in Syria, with the highest reaching nearly 29 tons in September. The email was from a legal representative of Gestion Redbourne PDP Inc., the owners of the building housing Cinema du Parc. The Cinema has hosted dozens of expositions in the past three years, and this is the first time that such action has been taken. This move on the part of Redbourne seems entirely political, to muzzle the message of Human Drama in Gaza. On Monday, Feb. 15th, the critically acclaimed Human Drama in Gaza Photo Exposition in Montreal was threatened with closure by Gestion Redbourne PDP Inc., the real estate management firm owning the property housing the Exposition. A legal representative of Redbourne, Lieba Shell, sent an email late in the day to the exposition host, Cinema du Parc, ordering the removal of the exposition and threatening legal action if the exposition were not taken down by evening. Cinema du Parc and Canadians for Justice and Peace in the Middle East (CJPME) – the producer of the exposition – asserted through their legal advisor, Mark H. Arnold, that such threats from Redbourne were not lawful. Human Drama in Gaza was launched in mid-January, and received very positive reviews in several media. Redbourne, however, demanded the removal of the exposition based on a paragraph in the lease that Cinema du Parc has with Redbourne relating to “purely cinemagraphic use” of the premises. Arnold, however, asserted that the cinema’s hosting of a photo exposition would very much constitute cinemagraphic use of the premises. Officials with Cinema du Parc also pointed out that the cinema has hosted dozens of photo expositions in the past several years, and has never had a complaint from Redbourne, the landlord. “This move on the part of Redbourne is clearly political,” declared Thomas Woodley, President of CJPME. “Cinema du Parc is known for its ongoing expositions which touch on important issues of social concern, and Redbourne never had an issue in the past.” Last week, both Cinema du Parc and Place du Parc (the shopping mall housing the cinema and owned by Redbourne) received emails and calls from individuals unhappy with the Human Drama in Gaza exposition. The complaints accused the exposition of being anti-Israel, but stopped short of questioning the credibility of the exposition content. “The suffering of the 1.5 million people of Gaza is an important social issue like any other,” asserted Woodley. “The fact that certain people wish to stifle open discussion on Gaza is even more a reason to bring the debate out into the open.” According to CJPME, the exposition itself seeks to put a human face to the misery of the people of Gaza, and the poignant resilience of a people facing severe adversity. The captions accompanying the photos cite statistics and legal analyses of Israel’s 22-day assault on Gaza of last winter. The legal advisor to CJPME pointed out that if security forces from Redbourne were to attempt to forcibly remove the exposition, they would be considered trespassers. Every day, women in Europe and the US fall victim to one of the most flagrant abuses of their human rights - the right to live without violence. It might be the stranger lurking in the back alley: much more likely it is the partner, relative, friend or colleague - for most violence against women is carried out by someone they know. Crime statistics show that one woman in four has been attacked at some time in their lives and that at least 15 per cent of all European women have experienced domestic violence in a relationship after the age of 16. With domestic violence still very much a hidden crime, the real figure is sure to be higher. Other forms of violence - such as stalking, forced marriage, forced abortions, and forced sterilization - still pass largely unrecorded. Conviction rates for any type of violence against women are notoriously low. When police pick up a case, on average there are 35 previous incidents to take into account. And law enforcement agents do not always possess the required expertise to produce the evidence necessary to see perpetrators brought to justice. Is it any wonder that convictions are rare? Governments throughout Europe are recognizing the challenge, but have fallen short of action. Some have now set up refuges for abused women, some have criminalized harassment. Others use restraining orders, counseling or mediation services, or expel the violent partner from the home. Practices differ from country to country, with no clear legislative model - leaving Europe\\\'s women vulnerable to a crime that should have passed into the history books years ago. According to the Palestinian Central Bureau of Statistics, there are more than 38 thousand people with disabilities in the Gaza Strip; or 2.4% of the total population in the Gaza Strip are with disabilities. Due to the Israeli blockade imposed on the coastal enclave, disabled people in Gaza suffer two main problems; obtaining a medical permit for treatment outside Gaza, and getting access to required medications not available in the hospitals of the blockaded Gaza. The US trade deficit with China reached $315 billion last year, a record unsurpassed in the history of such statistics. In April, US exports to the 27-nation European Union fell 7.9 percent. Exports to the EU in the first four months of 2013 were down 7.4 percent compared to the same period in 2012. Exports to the United Kingdom were the lowest since May 2009, while those to China declined 4.7 percent. Imports from China surged 21.2 percent, lifting the contentious US trade deficit with China to $24.1 billion from $17.9 billion in March. China keeps investing in its future, creating jobs, building infrastructure, funding education and technology and its GDP soars. And America keeps sliding into a no-growth economy, to 1% GDP growth in a generation. According to Robert Fogel, the director of the Center for Population Economics at the University of Chicago Booth School of Business and winner of the 1993 Nobel Memorial Prize in Economics; \"In 2040, the Chinese economy will reach $123 trillion, or nearly three times the economic output of the entire globe in 2000. China\'s per-capita income will hit $85,000, more than double the forecast for the European Union, and also much higher than that of India and Japan as China moves \"from a poor country in 2000 to a superrich country in 2040.\" America\'s per-capita wealth may be higher, says Fogel, but \"China\'s share of global GDP - 40% - will dwarf that of the United States (14%) and the European Union (5%) 30 years from now.\" China has been one of the fastest growing markets for US goods, and exports to that country were up 4.8 percent for the first four months of 2013.

China\'s national Bureau of Statistics has released new figures on the country\'s economic outlook. The figures show China\'s economic growth was 7.5 percent in the second quarter of 2013-down from 7.7 percent in the first quarter of the previous year and the slowest pace in 23 years. Figures also show China\'s GDP has been staying under 8% for five straight quarters, which is a clear sign of distress. The government is now setting 7.5 percent economic growth target for 2013. Some economists have warned that China could face economic problems because of over-investment in its industries. Top Iranian computer science and software engineering students have gathered at Tehran\'s famous Sharif University of Technology. Based on 2011 & 12 statistics Iranian students were ranked top 14 in the world in computer engineering. The 2013 CSI International symposium on Artificial Intelligence and Signal Processing (AISP), Computer Networks and Distributing Systems (CNDS) and Computer Science and Software Engineering (CSSE) has started in the capital. The event was held by Computer Society of Iran and Sharif University of Technology. The three day conference will discuss recent advances in computer algorithms, theoretical computer science and computation, formal programming methods, software engineering, verification and architecture and information systems. The chairman of the symposium talked explained about Iranian student\'s recent advances in this field. These three symposiums in 2013 published 129 papers in Iran of which 27% were published in international computer science and software engineering journals. Last year Iranian student\'s finished 5th place in the International Olympiad in Informatics (IOI) considered to be one most prestigious computer science competitions in the world, Iran earned 2 gold and 2 silver medals.
