During a vote held on Monday extreme right wing Israeli\\\\\\\'s were elected into key positions in Israeli Benjamin Netanyahu\\\\\\\'s Likud party. Hardline Israeli settler and Deputy Minister of Military affairs Danny Danon, was voted for the position of chairman of the party\\\\\\\'s Central Committee. Danon made a statement that he would stand against a two state solution between Israel and Palestine. He has also said that Israel should take full control of the West Bank and Palestinians should be governed by Jordan.

A second attempt by the government of president Rohani to win a vote of confidence for three vacant seats in his cabinet; the Iranian president attended the parliament along with three of his proposed nominees for the ministries of Science, research and technology, education and sports and youth affairs. The three nominees included Ali Asghar Fani, Reza Faraji Dana and Reza Salehi Amiri.

Exit polls show incumbent Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu\\\'s hard-line Likud-Beitenu bloc and their allies have won a narrow majority in the Israeli general election. However, Netanyahu\\\'s Likud Party-Yisrael Beitenu and nationalist allies performed far worse than expected in Tuesday\\\'s election and lost ground to center-left parties, according to the exit polls. If the exit polls are correct, the hard-liners will win a narrow majority with about 61 seats in the 120-seat parliament. It has been projected that Netanyahu\\\'s Likud Party-Yisrael Beitenu alliance will emerge as the largest faction with 30 or 31 seats. The new centrist party, Yesh Atid (There is a Future), led by journalist-turned-politician Yair Lapid, is predicted to win 18 or 19 seats, followed by left-leaning Labor, with 17 seats. Labor leader Shelly Yachimovich said, \\\"There is a high chance of a shake-up and an end to the Netanyahu government.\\\" The nearly 67 percent turnout is thought to have benefited Labor and centrists. In Iran, the spotlight is on the June 14 presidential election. The crucial vote will determine the path the country will be taking for the next four years. This has to great extent undermined the city and village council elections which are set to be held on the same day as the presidential election. Since the victory of the Islamic revolution Iranians have gone to the polls three times to vote for the city and village councils. A fourth round was to be held in June 2010 but was postponed for three years according to a decision made by the parliament. This year 352 thousand hopefuls have registered to compete for 207 thousand seats around the country. Unlike other elections held in Iran, the Guardian Council is not responsible for the vetting process. Instead a parliamentary committee has to decide which of the candidates are qualified to run. Since the 1979 Islamic revolution, on average one election has been held each year but the fourth round of city and village council elections is different in many ways. First and foremost it is going be the biggest election ever held in the history of Iran in terms of the number of candidates and the number of seats at stake. According to law any village with a population of over 100 should have its own council tasked with paving the way for the social, economic, and cultural development of the community that it represents. In this edition of the show we will be taking a closer look at the preparations made for this round of city and village council elections and the role these councils have played in the development of cities and villages and the services that they provide.

Egypt detains 154 opposition members The Egyptian government has detained 154 members of the country's largest opposition group, the Muslim Brotherhood, ahead of general elections. According to the Muslim Brotherhood, the arrests were made in 17 different governorates just days after the group said it would field independent candidates in the upcoming parliamentary elections. Egyptian security forces, however, say they detained the opposition members over alleged plans to cause disturbance. The group's lawyer Abdul Monem Abdul Maqsoud told reporters in Cairo on Sunday that 70 detainees remain in custody but the others were released after questioning, DPA reported. Abdul Maqsoud said the arrests were aimed at spreading fear among opposition supporters to keep people from joining the election campaign. Meanwhile, prominent Egyptian opposition leader Mohamed ElBaradei earlier called for a boycott of the elections. The Muslim Brotherhood has defended its decision to field candidates. "We participate for Egypt's sake," Muslim Brotherhood spokesman Essam el-Erian said last week. "Participation is the best way to expose the corruption of the regime." [15 June 2012] Egypt rev. continues through elections - English Egypt's Supreme Constitutional Court has ordered the country's parliament dissolved saying the legislative body's election about 6 months ago was unconstitutional. The Supreme Constitutional Court ruled on Thursday that one-third of the parliamentary seats were "illegitimate." The court also ruled that the parliament-approved political isolation law is unconstitutional, allowing ousted dictator Hosni Mubarak's last premier Ahmad Shafiq to stay in the presidential runoff this weekend. The Thursday rulings come just two days ahead of a tense presidential runoff between Shafiq and Muslim Brotherhood's candidate Mohammed Morsi. Following the decision, the ruling Supreme Council of the Armed Forces (SCAF) declared full legislative authority and said that, by Friday, it will announce a 100-person assembly that will write the country's new constitution. Press TV has conducted an interview with Waleed el-Haddad, spokesman of Freedom and Justice Party, to hear his opinion on this issue. [15 July 2012] Libya to announce election results soon - English The Libyan people are finally gaining the fruits of their endless sacrifices. It is clear how much they have been longing for democracy, as they are finally rejoicing fair and transparent elections. The National Forces Alliance, a secular party led by former premier Mahmoud Jibril, has garnered vote majority according to early results announced by the High National Election Commission and might consequently dominate a considerable bloc of seats in the incoming parliament. Yet it is labeled as another version of Gaddafi's government.

Officials in Iraq\'s Kurdistan Region say they\'re making progress with forming the new government following September\'s elections. Kurdistan\'s main opposition party - the Change Movement - came second in the elections. The party has now agreed to join the government with the winning Kurdistan Democratic Party. The Change Movement and the Democratic Party have enough seats to form a majority. But Kurdistan\'s Islamic parties are also trying to join the new government. It\'s unclear who will take on the role of the opposition. The Change Movement is still discussing details of the new government with Kurdistan\'s Prime Minister Nechirvan Barzani. The Democratic Party\'s historical partner - the Patriotic Union of Kurdistan - will also join the new government - despite its third place finish in the elections. However, officials say that Prime Minister Barzani wants to include other parties rather than continue the duopoly between the Democratic Party and the Patriotic Union.
