Pakistani authorities have decided to block access to Facebook and YouTube following the announcement of an online competition to draw pictures of the Prophet Mohammed. The country's telecommunication authority asked internet service providers to indefinitely block the popular social networking websites, saying they contained "blasphemous" material. British media say they have obtained classified documents that show the Obama administration has been spying on millions of Americans on a daily basis. The revelation has been made by the U-K\'s Guardian newspaper. It involves a scheme directed by Verizon, one of America\'s largest telecoms providers.

Communication satellite provider Intelsat has announced the suspension of its services to the channels launched from Iran. And based on a letter, they did ask for an extension from the US government to keep broadcasting Iranian channels, but were refused. Why is the US government against this basic right as outlined in their own constitution, namely, freedom of speech? Furthermore, why have European satellite providers cut the transmission of Iranian channels, while the EU has stated the media are not part of the US-led sanctions against Iran?

People in Gaza have slammed the renewed western attacks on Press TV and other Iranian channels. The alternative news outlet and its sister channels have come under a wave of unprecedented attacks by European governments and satellite providers since last year. Recently the giant satellite provider Intelsat stopped the broadcast of Iranian channels depriving millions of viewers around the world of the right to watch unbiased news coverage.

The decision by the international Satellite providers to take dozens of Iranian channels off the air has been met with anger by many people around the world. Press TV was one of the outlets hit by the ban, which also targeted channels like iFilm: an entertainment channel which only plays movies and TV shows.
