he prospects of ending 12 years of pro-Taliban militancy through negotiations in Pakistan are dying down after a US drone attack killed Wali u Rehman Mehsud, the deputy chief of pro-Taliban militants controlling parts of the tribal region in the country\'s northwest. In retaliation, the militants have said they will withdraw their earlier offer to hold talks with the incoming government of Muslim League- Nawaz Sharif. The pro-Taliban militants have slamed the government, in a reference to the country\'s military for conspiring to get their leader killed through a US drone strike. Opposition parties are now mounting pressure on incoming Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif to order Pakistan\'s Air Force, after taking the oath of office next week, to shoot down US assassination drones operating in the country\'s tribal areas. Sharif\'s party seeks to convene a meeting of other political parties to decide on a joint course of action on how to deal with Washington\'s continued violation of Pakistan\'s sovereignty. Bahrain's authorities have cancelled the scholarships of several students who have demonstrated against the government in Britain. President Hamid Karzai for the first time has made public that the US wants to have permanent military presence in Afghanistan. He has also unveiled the number of bases the US is mulling over. Karzai wants to let the US have these bases but with some conditions. But on the streets, local Afghans are angry at the prospect of permanent US bases in their country. The say such bases will bring about more problems to Afghans, and that they no more trust foreign forces. It has now been 12 years of war since the US invaded Afghanistan, ostensibly to fight the Taliban and bring peace. Richard Walton also says there are already signs that British militants are coming back from Syria with orders to carry out attacks. According to intelligence sources, British extremists make up the biggest chunk of hundreds of Western militants fighting the Syrian government. This, as France and Australia each have about 2-hundred citizens fighting in Syria, with others coming from countries like the United States and Canada.

Whether one has a pet cat or not should not hinder one from the divine prospect of marriage. Similarly, there are many things which Muslims take into account before deciding to marry or when selecting a spouse - the person’s skin colour, how wealthy they are, whether or not they are Sayyid… but are such things what Islam tells us to consider before marrying? A quick disclaimer; the purpose of this episode is not to say that men should not work hard and strive to earn a halal living while saying, “I’m pious, so let me marry!”. No. It is the duty of Muslim men everywhere to work. Similarly, it is an important duty for us to study and educate ourselves. The underlying message in this BISKIT is that FAITH ought to be given priority over all other things before we marry. Neither wealth, nor education, nor beauty, nor lineage, nor nationality are even remotely as important as faith. As Muslims we must remember that in front of faith, all the other things are as irrelevant as a pet cat named Mr. Tibbles!
