Tribesmen have blown up a major oil pipeline in southern Yemen. Officials say the flow of crude has been halted due to the explosion in Ash-Shihr town of Hadramawt province. Over the past two years, oil and gas pipelines in Yemen have come under repeated attacks, causing fuel shortages and slashing export earnings in the impoverished country. Yemen depends on oil exports for some 70 percent of government spending.

These long queues of vehicles outside the CNG station in the Pakistani capital Islamabad is a grim reminder that the country is in the midst of sever energy crises. Pakistan is exploring several options to meet its future energy needs. One of them is to import natural gas from neighboring Iran. Iran has completed work on its side of the border. However, Pakistan has yet to lay the pipeline on its side. The delay has prompted one of Pakistan\'s senior lawyers to seek the intervention of the Supreme Court to ensure the timely completion of the project.

In Iraq\'s Kurdistan Region, a new oil dispute is on the horizon. Kurdish officials say they\'re going to build a second pipeline to export oil to global traders via Turkey. The move has angered Iraq\'s central government, which is firmly against Kurdistan\'s independent oil exports.

Armed men have bombed a major oil pipeline in northern Iraq. Officials say the blasts caused a fire and stopped the oil pumping from Salaheddin province to the Turkish port of Jeyhan. Large parts of Syria have plunged into darkness after a huge blast targeted the main gas pipeline feeding electricity stations south of the country. The explosion caused massive but partial power outages in all Syrian governorates. The Electricity Ministry says technicians and workers are trying to fix the problem. Meanwhile, in the capital Damascus, mortar shells fired by foreign-backed insurgents killed at least two civilians. In another attack, a booby-trapped car went off near an army checkpoint at the entrance of the Dummar residential area in Damascus. The sound of an explosion was also heard near the main church in the area.

The Iraqi government has established a fact-finding committee to probe the killing of at least 16 Iranian gas pipeline engineers and workers.
