Deadly violence continues to plague Pakistan. A bomb has hit a passenger train in the southwestern Balochistan province. At least seven are dead, over a dozen injured. The bomb was apparently planted on the railway track. It went off when the train approached a station in Naseer-Abad district, causing the daily express to derail. The train was travelling from Rawalpindi to Quetta, the main city in the insurgency-hit province. No group has yet claimed responsibility. Our correspondent says the death toll may rise because six of the wounded are in critical conditio

A bomb explosion has ripped through a passenger bus in the south of Russia, killing six people. The incident came as the bus carrying around 40 people, was traveling on the Volga River in the city of Volgograd. According to security officials and investigators, a suspected female bomber detonated the bomb inside the bus. There is no immediate information about the identity of the bomber and the motive behind the incident. More investigation is underway.

On the morning of 3rd of July 1988, an Iran Air airbus passenger plane, flight number 655, took off from the port city of Bandar Abbas for a routine thrice a week flight to Dubai across the Persian Gulf with 290 passengers on board including 160 men, 73 women and 57 children.

Dramatic new pictures have emerged of the moment a Russian passenger plane was forced to make an emergency landing on water in Eastern Siberia. The Antonov-24, which was carrying 36 people, can clearly be seen with one of its engines on fire. The pilot had reported difficulties and decided to attempt the landing on the River Ob on Monday.
