Tehran has hosted the 30th International Qur\\\'an Competitions in recitation and memorization categories. The event has brought together over 110 reciters and memorizers from 75 world countries.
At the contest the competitors will demonstrate their talents in reciting and memorizing the Holy Book with great passion and dedication.
Since its first inauguration in 1983 the competition gradually opened its place among Muslim scholars serving as a platform for introducing new faces to the Muslim world in the field of recitation and memorizing the holy Qur\\\'an. A number of Iranian and international reciters have been selected to serve at the jury panel of the 2013 Tehran International Qur\\\'an Competition.
On the sidelines of the international contest a seminar on Qur\\\'anic research is also scheduled to be held.
The 30th International Qur\\\'an Competitions will continue until June 7, 2013.
At the 29th competitions last year Iran, Egypt and Bahrain were announced as the winners of the recitation category, while the prize for best memorizers of the holy Quran went to competitors from Iran, Bangladesh and Libya.

Pakistan\\\'s former president Parvez Musharraf is facing treason charges. The government of Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif has decided to proceed against Musharraf for imposing emergency rule and detaining judges in November 2007.
Under the Pakistani law, only a sitting government can initiate such proceedings. But previous government was reluctant to pursue the case fearing a possible clash with the powerful army.
But the new administration has told the Supreme Court that a panel of four senior officials from the federal investigation agency will look into charges against the former military ruler.

Dozens of Israeli soldiers raided the village of Susiya in the South West of Al Khalil, Hebron while handing 39 stop work and demolition orders. The latest Israeli orders target tents, kitchens, structures, solar panels, a clinic, a kindergarten, a cultural center, and milk production facility.
The solar panel plant was funded by the European Union and is the only source of electricity for the villagers. Human rights groups have stated that Israeli policy is part of its ethnic cleansing of indigenous Palestinians.

In the US prison at Guantanamo, despite various calls for a halt to humiliating and degrading treatment of inmates, such acts continue. In the latest development, US appeals court judges are questioning the need for genital searches of prisoners before meeting their lawyers. At a hearing of a three-judge panel of the US Court of Appeals for the District of Columbia Circuit, Judge Thomas Griffith said that checking the prisoners\' private parts was both provocative and offensive. Griffith then cited the detainees\' right to have easy access to their lawyers as a legal obligation of the court. Some of the prisoners have decided not to meet their lawyers because genital searches were required beforehand. Meanwhile, another US appeals court is reviewing whether it is necessary to force-feed hunger-striking prisoners, an act which some people describe as torture.

Bagram Jail is still packed with hundreds of prisoners. Some of these cells are being controlled by US forces and some by Afghans. And now these men are reviewing the files of each prisoner there. They are members of a three-panel commission appointed by President Hamid Karzai. So far, they have met 764 prisoners and investigated their cases. And 650 of them have been let go.
Others have been found innocent too. They will be released soon. It may be good news for their families, but not for the US military men. They want this move to be blocked. An American military official has been quoted as saying \"These guys are tied directly to killing and trying to kill our forces and Afghan forces\". He also called it an issue of deep concern. And here is how the Afghan commission reacted to their concerns. The main dispute is over 88 inmates. Americans think they will soon return to the battle field and fight back. The move also comes as the relations between President Karzai and White House are already at very low ebb since Karzai refused to let American forces stay beyond 2014. Now, how will this latest dispute unfold, remains to be seen. U-S and Afghan officials have different views on the status of prisoners in Bagram Jail. Afghan government says the prisoners are innocent and there is no evidence to prove that they are terrorists. But the U-S military insists that these prisoners are very dangerous people. And the issue comes at a very sensitive time in relations between Kabul and Afghanistan.

This was the third time that Pakistan\'s former military ruler General Pervez Musharraf failed to appear before the court in connection with treason case.
On two previous occasions he could not turn up before the three-member special panel because of security reasons. But this time sudden health issues prevented him to appear before the court. He was rushed to the Army\'s Hospital in Rawalpindi when he was on his way to court to face treason charges.
