What is the definition of the word \\\'Zulm\\\' and what do we commonly translate it as?
What are some of the things that come to our mind when we think about oppression and injustice?
What does the holy Qur\\\'an say about \\\'Zulm\\\'?
And what does the idea of falling short have to do with the meaning of \\\'Zulm\\\'?
Does \\\'Zulm\\\' exist in the Hereafter or will it only remain upon this material realm?
Finally, upon what divine principle has Allah created the Heavens and the earth?
In this Scholar Clips, Shayk Salim Yusufali answers and explains, \\\"What Is Oppression?\\\"

In order for us to properly confront and oppose injustice, we must understand the three types of injustice. The Arabic word “Dhulm” is sometimes translated as “injustice” and sometimes as “oppression”; though both of these translations do not possess the ability to adequately describe what Dhulm really is. In order to truly light up the darkness, we must recognise and eradicate Dhulm at 3 levels.

Palestine is the most important issue facing the world today. The issue of Palestine isn\'t a mere land dispute, rather it is the mass expulsion of an entire nation of people from their own country.
Yet, there are two other tragedies that were forced upon by the Palestinian people by the Zio-Imperial global forces. What are they? What makes Palestine an unprecedented and historic case of oppression?
Finally, always remember that Palestine will be free from the river to the sea, but only if you wake up and do something about it.
The Leader of the Muslim Ummah, Imam Sayyid Ali Khamenei speaks.

Welcome to the Islamic Pulse Talk Show.
In this special episode in ode to the Master of Martyrs, we\'re talking about \"The Political Oppression of Imam Husayn (A)\'s Era & The Present-Day\".
Are we living in an era which is worse than the era of Imam Husayn (A) in terms of the oppression that is occurring, or better than Imam Husayn (A)?
What are some examples of the political oppression that was being committed by Muawiya in the era of the Imamate of Imam Husayn (A)?
One of the things that Imam Husayn (A) rebukes Muawiya about is the killing of respected innocent people; how is this comparable to the present-day?
What is a \'go to\' measure for the Arrogant Powers when an individual becomes a threat to their Pharaonic establishment?
How would Imam Husayn (A) react in the present-day when taking into consideration the amount of oppression that is taking place on a global scale?
Has the behaviors and culture of the colonial-imperialist powers changed when comparing their bloody history of the colonial-imperialist era and the post-colonial era?
What derogatory term did an American governmental official use for their puppet Saddam Hussein, and how is it a lesson for all Muslim leaders who trust and rely upon America?
How and why is \'Death to America\' the most emancipating slogan of our era?
How is the metaphor of the \'house negro\' and the \'field negro\' used by Shaheed Malcolm X applicable to our discussion at hand?
How is the spreading of moral and ethical corruption and decadence one of the things that Muawiya was doing during the era of Imam Husayn (A), and how is it comparable to the present-day?
Interestingly, what role does Imam Khomeini (R), the Islamic Republic of Iran, and the Islamic Revolution play when it comes to opposing and fighting the political oppression in the present-day?
And finally, what is the duty of every single follower of Imam Husayn (A) - regardless of religious affiliation - in the face of the unprecedented moral, ethical, and political oppression that is occurring on a global scale in the present-day?
To answer these questions and more, we humbly invited Sayyid Agha Ali Raza to sit down with us and help us understand \"The Political Oppression of Imam Husayn (A)\'s Era & The Present-Day\".
Our condolences to the believers, wherever you are, upon the martyrdom anniversary of Imam Husayn (A), his honorable family members, and his devoted companions.
Salutations be upon the Master of Martyrs!
Salutations be upon the esteemed Husayn!
Salutations be upon the esteemed Ali ibn Husayn!
Salutations be upon the innocent children of Husayn!
Salutations be upon the loyal companions of Husayn!

Salutations to all the believers upon the auspicious birth anniversary of the 1st divinely appointed Imam, the rightful successor of the Messenger...
Salutations to all the believers upon the auspicious birth anniversary of the 1st divinely appointed Imam, the rightful successor of the Messenger of Allah (S), Imam Ali ibn Abu Talib (A).
And a very happy Father\'s Day to all you fathers out there. You are our pride and honor, wherever you are.
There is a profound tradition from the 1st divinely appointed Imam (A), where his eminence speaks about oppression and oppressors.
Yet, before we continue, in what special Muslim country is the birth anniversary of Imam Ali (A) also celebrated as Father\'s Day?
Continuing with the tradition at hand, if one stays complacent to oppression and sinning, or even lives in a society where oppression and sins are being committed, doesn\'t commit the sins or oppression, but remains complacent, are they a part of that oppression and sinning?
And what are the two sins that are committed by one who enters into falsehood?
No more questions are necessary, but the answers will surely shock you, hopefully into thinking twice about where you decide to live.
Sayyid Shahryar continues to open eyes and hopefully hearts, in this One Minute Wisdom, using the immaculate words of the living miracle of the Messenger of Allah (S), Imam Ali ibn Abi Talib (A).

There is a profound tradition from the 9th divinely appointed Imam (A), where his eminence speaks about oppression.

According to the tradition of the 9th divinely appointed Imam (A), who all else are considered to be partners in the oppression of the oppressor?
Well, Sayyid Shahryar answers in this One Minute Wisdom with the immaculate words of Imam Muhammad ibn Ali al-Taqi al-Jawad (A).
The answers will surely surprise you, and perhaps even shock you into making sure that you are not one of \"The Three Partners in Oppression\".

The Arrival of Imam Mahdi - Must See! - Persian

The second half of the video has Persian lyrics. Here is a related and very insightful excerpt from Shaheed Baqir Sadr's book THE AWAITED SAVIOR: The Mahdi is not only an embodiment of the Islamic belief but he is also the symbol of an aspiration cherished by mankind irrespective of its divergent religious doctrines. He is also the crystallization of an instructive inspiration through which all people, regardless of their religious affiliations, have learned to await a day when a heavenly mission, with all its implications, will achieve their final goal and the tiring march of humanity across history will culminate satisfactorily in peace and tranquillity....... The religion, when it endorses this common consciousness and stresses that in the long run this world will be filled with justice and equity after having been filled with injustice and oppression, gives it a factual value and converts it into a definite belief in the future course of humanity. This belief is not merely a source of consolation, but it is also a source of virtue and strength. It is a source of virtue because the belief in the Mahdi means the total elimination of injustice and oppression prevailing in the world. It is a source of inexhaustible strength because it provides hope which enables man to resist frustration, howsoever, hopeless and dismal the circumstances may be. The belief in the appointed day proves that it is possible for the forces of justice to face the world filled with injustice and oppression, to prevail upon the forces of injustice and to reconstruct the world order. After all prevalence of injustice, howsoever dominant and extensive it may become, is an abnormal state and must in the long run be eliminated. The prospect of its elimination after reaching its climax, infuses a great hope in every persecuted individual and every oppressed nation that it is still possible to change the state of affairs. -- http://www.al-islam.org/awaited/index.htm

Miniature Earth - English

Friends, let this not come as a surprise to you. This is the reality we are living in where it is ‘estimated that one billion people in the world suffer from hunger and malnutrition. That’s roughly 100 times as many as those who actually die from these causes each year. About 24,000 people die every day from hunger or hunger related causes… Three-fourths of the deaths are children under the age of five.’
--HOW YOU CAN HELP --
Don’t waste natural resources. Be thankful to God for His gifts and blessings. Be mindful of your responsibility toward other human beings. Think about what the Prophet (saws) would do. Have mercy and compassion toward all humankind. Next time you spend money on those unnecessary luxuries of your life, think for a moment about the plight of the poor and oppressed around the world. Be aware of the materialistic forces and the contradictions of the dominant economic systems that are at the roots of global inequality. Don’t become a part of this system. Don’t become a slave of consumerism and endless materialistic competition.
Understand that it is not enough to just keep yourself from engaging in consumerism. It's not always easy to protect yourself and your family against the multi-billion dollar industry of marketing. Join forces with other like-minded people. Strengthen your communities that can serve as a buffer against corporations. Engage in collective action. Transform people's consciousness and hyper-consumeristic lifestyles. Among other things, join a local organization that is working against subtle forms of oppression, like hunger, poverty, illiteracy, domestic violence, anorexia and bulimia, perfect body images, and endless materialistic competition. If there isn’t any, start one today!
For ideas, you can look into doing online activism. Check out moveon.org’s work. Some online organizations also invite web surfers to click on their sites regularly. They say every click earns them revenue to support their causes. The Hunger Site is an example. Some may also invite you to buy their T-shirts and other souvenirs. I guess, you can buy these items if you think they can help spread the word and encourage people to join a good cause. But, in general, more shopping and more consumption cannot be a solution to human suffering. Selling consumers to products through clicks or ads is exactly what we need to shun. Because that feeds into the same loop of consumerism. My suggestion: Donate directly! And, encourage others to do the same!
Lastly, remember the advice Imam Ali gave in his Last Will:
“My advice to you is to be conscious of Allah and steadfast in your religion. Do not yearn for the world, and do not be seduced by it. Do not resent anything you have missed in it. Proclaim the truth; work for the next world. Oppose the oppressor and support the oppressed.”
Become a friend and supporter of oppressed people and an enemy of oppressors and all forms of oppression."

Bahrainis in NY protest Khalifa oppression - Sep 22, 2011 - English

It was in February 2011 when thousands of Bahrainis most of them from the country's Shia majority took to the streets to demand political reform. The Bahraini government reacted to the protests with a mixture of violent repression, and offers of limited concessions.
More than seven months later this time in New York City and on the sidelines of the UN General Assembly, Bahrainis and their supporters gather to call on the government of Hamed Bin Khalifa to end its brutal oppression against its people.
While the gathering is a humble one, the demonstrator's voices are loud and clear, they're calling for a free Bahrain for all.
The demonstrators stand united in front of the Bahraini mission where the Kingdom's ambassador to the UN is rumored to be having lunch with King Khalifa, the ruler of Bahrain.
While the ill treatment of the Shia population has made headlines around the world since protests erupted, for many demonstrators here the rally is about upholding core human values, regardless of religious affiliations.
Hussain Abdullah, Director of the advocacy group Americans for Democracy & Human Rights in Bahrain says the majority of the population are living under state oppression and the government needs to know that the voices of reason will not remain silent.
With posters and banners in hand and the Bahraini flag raised in the air the demonstrators hope gatherings like these big or small will garner the attention and support of the international community.

Christianity Under Question! | Imam Khomeini (R)
The impression today\'s Christianity has painted in people\'s mind is that Christianity is all about LOVE, AFFECTION, and CARE etc. Yet, while we see millions of people subjected to oppression and cruelty, we find Christian authorities and scholars to be quiet! Is it not ironic? Where is that love and passion for the needy and the oppressed? Where is your support for the dying kids of Yemen; where is your support for the innocent Palestinians; where is your support for all the oppressed people of the world who are waiting for your love, affection, and care! What would Jesus do to stop the oppression?!
