Syria\\\\\\\'s military has gained the upper hand over the foreign-backed insurgents in the northeast of the country. Army units have re-taken over a dozen villages on the road between the two cities of Qamishli and Tal Hamis. The victory came after fierce fighting which ended with several militants killed and their weapons seized. Tal Hamis, which is located near the Turkish border, was re-captured earlier in the day by local Kurdish fighters who have been battling insurgency alongside government forces.

Another act of atrocity at the hands of foreign-backed insurgents in Syria. Militants execute an Iraqi cameraman in Syria\'s northeast. Reports say Yasser Faysal al-Joumaili was killed in Idlib province after insurgents stopped him at a checkpoint and shot him without asking any questions. The militants are said to be members of the notorious al-Qaeda-linked group, the Islamic State of Iraq and the Levant. The slain reporter of Al-Jazeera International and Reuters was on an assignment for a Spanish media outlet. Many journalists have lost their lives in the Syrian conflict which began in 20-11.

Another day of bloodshed in Iraq. At least 21 people have been killed as a car bomb went off in the country\'s northeast. The blast hit a café in the town of Buhriz some 60 kilometers north of Baghdad. Nearly two-dozen people have reportedly been injured. Just yesterday, about 40 Iraqis were killed in blasts in and around Baghdad. The attacks targeted mostly Shia areas. Violence has been surging across Iraq in recent months. According to UN estimates, more than six-thousand people have lost their lives this year alone. Monday\'s attack brings to more than 130 the death toll since the beginning of December.

Reports from Syria say Kurdish fighters have managed to recapture a key town in the country\'s north-east. Press TV sources say the Kurdish People\'s Protection Units, known as YPG, have regained control of Tall Hamis town near the Turkish border. The Kurdish fighters retook the town following fierce fighting with the Al-Qaeda linked militants, who were heavily occupying the area. Reports say the YPG forces have also advanced in al-Husseinia village which is located near Tal Hamis. The victory is not the first for the YPG, as the group has previously taken control over several areas in the region.

At least three people have been killed as a blast rips through the Lebanese town of Hermel in the northeast. Medical sources say over 30 others have also been injured, with the number of casualties likely to rise. The car bomb detonated at the town\'s main square, in front of a state building. Hermel is located 10 kilometers from the Syrian border. The town has a pro-Hezbollah majority population and has witnessed numerous rocket attacks by foreign-backed insurgents in Syria. Thursday\'s blast comes barely two weeks after another explosion hit a southern neighborhood of Beirut. Several people were killed and scores wounded in that attack, for which an al-Qaeda-related group claimed responsibility.

According to Israeli daily Ha'aretz, the Israeli occupation confiscated Palestinian lands northeast of the Jordan valley and gave it to Kibbutz Merav, inhabited by Israeli settlers. The Israeli occupation is systematically confiscating land and expelling Palestinians in the Jordan Valley, known as al-Aghwar. The route of Israel's apartheid wall was altered to secure the takeover of 375 acres Palestinian lands. This annexation have come during the same week as Israel plans to invite tenders for the construction of 2,230 settlement units in East Jerusalem al-Quds and other parts of the West Bank. The Palestinian Authority has condemned these Israeli plans. According to experts, a large part of the occupied land belongs to Palestinians who were driven out of the land by the Israeli occupation forces during the 1967 war. These Palestinians are considered "absentee" by Israel and under the Israeli so-called Absentee Property Law, their lands can be used for settlement activities. Thousands of acres of privately-owned Palestinian lands were given to Israeli settlers in the Jordan Valley in the 1960s and 1970s, and the confiscation of Palestinian land in the area is still ongoing by the Israeli occupation, regardless of International laws and resolutions. In most cases, Israel confiscates lands near illegally-built settlements in the West Bank under the pretext of security reasons, but in this case, they have officially annexed these occupied lands.

Two rockets hit the southern district of Zahyieh in Lebanon\\\'s capital, Beirut, on May 26, injuring several people. In another incident on the same day, four mortars slammed into the heart of Hermel, which is situated about 100 kilometers (62 miles) northeast of Beirut. The incidents in Lebanon came amid recent deadly clashes between supporters and opponents of the Syrian government in the country\\\'s northern city of Tripoli. All of the Indo-China border falls in the high Himalayas. The two countries have a longstanding border dispute. It led to a bloody battle between them in 1962. India accuses China of occupying 38,000 square kilometers of its territory in the disputed region of Jammu and Kashmir, while the government in Beijing lays claim to 90,000 square kilometers of land in the state of Arunachal Pradesh in northeast India.

The deadliest attack took place on Baqubah where a bomb blast left eleven people dead. The explosion also left 19 people injured. Earlier, gunmen shot dead seven shepherds northeast of the city. Nearly a thousand people were killed in terrorist attacks countrywide in November alone. Iraqi officials blame the attacks on al-Qaeda and the remnants of the former Ba\'athist regime.

Foreign-backed militants continue their attacks on residential areas in Syria. The insurgent shelling of the Meridian district of the northern city of Aleppo killed several civilians on Wednesday. They also captured the area of Adra, northeast of the capital Damascus. More than 20 civilians, mostly Alawites, are said to have been killed in the militant attack there. This is while, Kurdish People\'s Protection Units have recaptured the north-eastern village of Tweineh, near al-Hasakah city, following clashes with militants of the al-Qaeda-linked al-Nusra Front. In recent days, some regional and international leaders have warned of growing extremism in Syria. This, as insurgents fighting the Syrian government enjoy the logistical and financial supports of Western and some regional Arab countries.

Syrian media reports say 22 Saudi terrorists have been killed in an attack by the army on the al-Nusrah front and the Jaysh al-Islam insurgents in Adra. The Syrian army launched a heavy crackdown against militants in Adra after they seized control of the town two days ago. The al-Qaeda-linked insurgents reportedly beheaded 50 civilians-- including the town\'s mayor, and hung up their heads in a market. Adra which is located northeast of Damascus, has a population of about 100-thousand including Alawites, Druze, Christians and Sunni Muslims. Syria has been gripped by a deadly war since 2011.
