Alevi inancında Hz. Alinin doğum tarihi 21 Marttır ve bugün Nevroz (Nevruz) Bayramı kabul edilir. Aleviler arıca bugünün başka kudsiyetlerine de inanırlar. Nevruz da kimi yörelerde 9 güne kadar oruç tutulur, kurbanlar kesilir, kabirler ziyaret edilir ve sadakalar dağıtılır. Ateşler yakılır, halaylar çekilir, türküler söylenir, yaşama coşku ile bağlanarak umutlar yinelenir. Nevruz Alevilikte bir neşe ve Barış bayramıdır. Hz. Ali, İslam Peygamberi Hz. Muhammedin amcasının oğludur. Onun yanında büyümüş ve eğitimini önemli ölçüde ondan almıştır. İslamiyeti ilk kabul eden kişidir. Ayrıca Hz. Muhammedin kızı Hz. Fatima ile evlenmesi vasıtası ile onun damadıdır. Hz. Muhammedin Ehl-i Beytim yani ailem dediği kişilerden biridir. Hz. Fatimadan doğan çocukları vasıtası ile Peygamber soyunun sürdürücüsüdür. Hz. Muhammedin Halifelik makamını Hz. Aliye layık görmesi ve onu önermesi elbette sıradan bir akrabalık ilişkisi olamazdı. Böyle olsa Hz. Muhammedin kendi diğer bazı akrabalarını da bu mantıkla gözetmesi gerekirdi. Hz. Muhammed bir Hadislerinde Hz. Aliyi kast ederek ‚Alinin on sekiz özelliği var ki, bunların hiç biri bu ümmetten hiç kimsede yoktur buyurmuşlardır. In the light of this all-embracing spiritual and intellectual resurrection, dispersion turned into unity, unchastity into chastity and virtue, idleness into hard work and industry, selfishness to altruism, and Arab arrogance to modesty and affection. Men and women were thus trained to become models of good moral behaviour and have altruistic manners forever. The morals of the Prophet were so sublime and praiseworthy that God has regarded them as great. `And truly you (Muhammad) possess great morals' (68:4).
