Courtesty nucleusanimation and Phelan8508 youtube. Animation by Harvard University. "In this clip Nuclei, proteins and lipids move with bug-like authority, slithering, gliding and twisting through 3D space. Each of the things in the animation are going on in every one of your cells in your body all the time. There are some surprising things. For instance, in the animation there's a motor protein that's sort of walking along a line, carrying this round sphere of lipids. It really does look like its out for a stroll, like a character in a science fiction film or animation. But based on all the data, it's pretty accurate rendering." FOLLOWING is a quote attributed to Imam Ali. Perhaps this clip may be considered as a material interpretation of that quote. The spiritual possibilities from within are said to be even greater and limitless -- "YOUR remedy is within you, but you do not sense it. Your sickness is from you, but you do not perceive it. You presume you are a small entity, but within you is enfolded the entire Universe. You are indeed the Evident Book, by whose alphabet the Hidden becomes Manifest. Therefore you have no need to look beyond yourself. What you seek is within you, if only you reflect." -- For technical description of what is going on in this video search with LIVING CELL on this site for another video with commentary. More of these kind of videos are available on youtube. Search with nucleusanimation

The energy problem is one of the most important issues that science and technology has to solve. Nobel laureate and Berkeley Lab Director Steven Chu proposes an aggressive research program to transform the existing and future energy systems of the world away from technologies that emit greenhouse gases. Berkeley Lab's Helios Project concentrates on renewable fuels, such as biofuels, and solar technologies, including a new generation of solar photovoltaic cells and the conversion of electricity into chemical storage to meet future demand. His talk was presented April 23, 2007

Bionic eyes were once thought to be the creation of science fiction, but now doctors in Germany have developed a computer chip that could help restore the sight of hundreds of thousands of blind people.
Retinal implants are able to partially restore the vision of people with particular forms of blindness caused by diseases such as macular degeneration or retinitis pigmentosa.
About 200,000 people worldwide have retinitis pigmentosa, and one in 10 people over the age of 55 have age-related macular degeneration.
The experimental chip has been tested on three men with astonishing results.

Brain-training computer games are a multimillion pound industry. But this week, a study published in Nature suggests they may not live up to their promise. Neuroscientist Adrian Owen teamed up with the BBC popular science programme 'Bang Goes The Theory' to recruit more than 11,000 volunteers for a massive online experiment. The results demolish the widely held belief that the regular use of brain-training games improves general cognitive function.

It's the New Years here in Iran, and as the whole nation celebrates either at home or on the road, here at "Iran Today" we're reviewing the country's scientific achievements throughout the last year.
From nuclear technology to space exploration, Iran's academic community has been working hard to do the nation proud by the start of the New Year.
On the 8th of April 2011, Iran put its Comprehensive Scientific Plan in motion. By definition this plan is "a coordinated and dynamic collection of goals polices and requisite for planning the strategic evolution of science technology and innovation systems, based on Islamic/Iranian values."
Toward the end of 1390, Iran's became the world's 17th country in scientific development. Its scientific growth was 20 percent more than the previous year, the highest in the world.

[19 June 2012] Russia supports Iran is nuclear program - English
A spokesman for the European Union's chief negotiator, Catherine Ashton, says multifaceted talks between Iran and the world powers in Moscow are progressing in a calm and positive atmosphere.
Michael Mann noted that today's talks between Iran and the P5+1 -- the US, Britain, France, Russia, China, and Germany -- are progressing in a calm and positive atmosphere and there is easy interaction between the two sides.
Iran and the P5+1 launched the third round of their new series of talks in the Russian capital of Moscow on Monday.
The two sides held three sessions of plenary talks in Baghdad in late May after an earlier round of negotiations in the Turkish city of Istanbul in mid-April.
Press TV has conducted an interview with Vladimir Sotnikov, senior researcher at the institute of oriental studies, Russian Academy of Science, from Moscow, to further discuss the issue.

[12 Aug 2012] Indian government slammed for joint research programs with Israel - English
Indian government has been criticized for its decision to start joint scientific research programmes with Israel.
Earlier this month, University Grant Commission in New Delhi signed a memorandum of understanding for a research programme with Israel Science Foundation. However, a group of Indian academicians, students and civil society members have opposed this move calling it an unholy alliance.

You won't believe your eyes when you see what happens to ordinary packing peanuts when they come in contact with a solvent called acetone. They seem to magically "disappear." In fact, the Styrofoam reacts with the solvent to reveal the fact that Styrofoam is made up of long strands of styrene molecules with lots of air pockets. This demonstration also reminds us about the importance of reducing our use of Styrofoam and replacing it with more Earth-friendly packing materials.
