Iran\\\'s Interior Ministry has hosted the first meeting of the Central Executive Board of the country\\\'s upcoming presidential election. The Thursday meeting was attended by members of the election board and chaired by Interior Minister Mostafa Mohammad-Najjar in the Iranian capital city, Tehran. The meeting came after the Guardian Council (GC) (Iran\\\\\\\'s top election supervisory body) spokesman Abbas-Ali Kadkhodaei said on Wednesday that the GC has approved 30 people as members of the Central Executive Board.
The board comprises the interior minister, intelligence minister, attorney-general, a lawmaker, and a number of religious, political, cultural and social figures. Based on the amendments made by Iran\\\'s Majlis to the election law last year, the Interior Ministry is tasked with holding the presidential election under the supervision of the Central Executive Board. More than 20 presidential hopefuls have so far declared their presidential bids. Iran\\\'s 11th presidential election will be held on June 14. Presidential hopefuls can register from May 7 to 11. The president of Iran is elected for a four-year term in a national election.

While there are few issues that have bipartisan support in Washington these days, a mix of conservative and liberal speakers at an American Enterprise Institute discussion all agree that the 2010 law - commonly known as \"Dodd-Frank\" has failed in its purpose of reducing the systemic risk posed by large financial institutions.

In 1947, Israelis began a process of ethnic cleansing in Palestine, which still goes on today. Sixty-five years after the first forced exodus of Palestinians from their homes, their many French supporters gathered on Nakba Day to make sure the world never forgets their suffering. Today, Israel continues to ignore international law, grab more land, build new settlements and commit further crimes against Palestinians. While many Israelis maintain that some 800,000 Palestinians left willingly, history does not support it. The truth is that, with British troops still in Palestine, a Western-armed Israeli force spent several months wiping dozens of villages off the map and executing at least 10,000 people, most of them unarmed civilians.

In Iran, the spotlight is on the June 14 presidential election. The crucial vote will determine the path the country will be taking for the next four years.
This has to great extent undermined the city and village council elections which are set to be held on the same day as the presidential election.
Since the victory of the Islamic revolution Iranians have gone to the polls three times to vote for the city and village councils. A fourth round was to be held in June 2010 but was postponed for three years according to a decision made by the parliament.
This year 352 thousand hopefuls have registered to compete for 207 thousand seats around the country. Unlike other elections held in Iran, the Guardian Council is not responsible for the vetting process. Instead a parliamentary committee has to decide which of the candidates are qualified to run.
Since the 1979 Islamic revolution, on average one election has been held each year but the fourth round of city and village council elections is different in many ways.
First and foremost it is going be the biggest election ever held in the history of Iran in terms of the number of candidates and the number of seats at stake.
According to law any village with a population of over 100 should have its own council tasked with paving the way for the social, economic, and cultural development of the community that it represents.
In this edition of the show we will be taking a closer look at the preparations made for this round of city and village council elections and the role these councils have played in the development of cities and villages and the services that they provide.

The Israeli authorities have cancelled a U-N fact-finding mission aimed at investigating the damage caused by Israeli demolitions and archeological digs to Islamic sites in Jerusalem al Quds. They are also attempting to introduce a new law that will enable Jews to pray with Muslims in al Aqsa mosque. Islamic figures have protested against Israel\'s plans to continue its excavations under the mosque and its attempts to Judaicize the region.

Father\\\\\\\'s Day is a national holiday in Iran, which is celebrated annually on the birthday of Imam Ali, the first Shiite Imam. Imam Ali was the cousin and son-in-law of Prophet Muhammad (PBUH). The reason that Father\\\\\\\'s Day is celebrated on this day is that, when Prophet Muhammad (PHUB) received his divine revelation, Imam Ali was the first male to accept his message. He then dedicated his life to the cause of Islam. On this day many Iranians gather in various mosques in Tehran to honor his memory.
Many people are finding ways to thank and honor their fathers on this day for influencing their upbringing. They take the opportunity to spend more time with their fathers and grandfathers. They often express their gratitude and pay their respects with a small gift.
Iranians believe the father is someone who is always there to trust and depend on, regardless of one\\\\\\\'s age.

The fifth of June marks Naksa day or the setback during 1967 six-day war. At that time Israel launched a hostile war against Syria, Egypt and Jordan. After defeating Arab forces, Israel completed the occupation of the rest of the Palestinian territories and occupied vast areas of the Syria and Egypt.
Forty six years later, a war veteran said Palestinians were betrayed by Arab forces. Palestinian resistance groups forced Israeli forces to withdraw from Gaza in 2005. Israel now says that it no longer occupies Gaza but facts on the ground prove otherwise.
However this place under international law is occupied. You only have to be here to see the Israeli warplanes that dominate the sky and still fly over.

Amid the massive turnout of voters in Friday\'s elections, Iranian presidential candidates have joined the rest of the nation in casting their ballots. Shortly after the polls opened, independent candidate Mohammad Gharazi showed up at a polling station in southeast Tehran and cast his vote. Describing June 14 as a national day, Gharazi said the real winner of the elections is the Iranian people and stressed that whoever wins the race bears a great responsibility.
Presidential candidate Hassan Rohani also cast his ballot on Friday morning. He urged all Iranians to make their presence felt on the political arena and further reinforce the Islamic Republic by turning out in force in the elections. After casting his ballot, Principlist candidate Mohammad Baqer Qalibaf also emphasized that popular vote is tantamount to law, adding that the candidate who emerges victorious should be respected by all.
Ali Akbar Velayati, another Principlist candidate, also urged Iranians to take part in the election fervidly, saying people\'s vote was the reaffirmation of the Islamic Republic. Independent candidate Mohsen Rezaei, for his part, urged a massive turnout in the elections. He called upon all Iranians to play an active role in determining their fate. Principlist candidate Saeed Jalili also called for a high voter turnout and stressed that all people should respect he who is elected.
Polls officially opened in Iran for presidential, and city and rural council elections at 8:00 am (0330 GMT) on Friday and are scheduled to remain open for ten hours. The time can be extended if necessary. Leader of the Islamic Revolution Ayatollah Seyyed Ali Khamenei cast his ballot minutes into the polls. Nearly 50.5 Iranians are eligible to vote in the June 14 election. More than 1.6 million of those eligible are first-time voters. The president of Iran is elected for a four-year term in a national election. Over 200,000 candidates are also running for city and rural council elections.

A Bahraini opposition group says the British government has a negative attitude to the revolution in the Persian Gulf state and rather supports the suppressive al-Khalifa regime in the country.
Bahrain National Democratic Society’s Secretary General Fazel Abbas told Al-Alam news channel that London’s position is clear from comments by the British ambassador to Bahrain and the change in the al-Khalifa approach to protesters after the Bahraini ruler’s meeting with British Prime Minister David Cameron “raise questions about Britain’s role in Bahrain”.
“We are extremely displeased with the British government’s stance,” Abbas added.
Last week, Cameron hosted talks with Bahraini ruler King Hamad al-Khalifa in London but no details of the meeting were made public except a brief statement by the British PM’s office.
“Cameron reiterated Britain’s support for ongoing political reform in Bahrain. The Prime Minister also encouraged His Majesty to continue to demonstrate substantive progress in all areas,” the statement said.
Ahead of his visit to London, the Bahraini dictator amended a law on public gatherings to “ban organizing protests, rallies, gatherings or sit-ins in Manama, with the exception of sit-ins outside (offices of) international organizations\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\".
Ahead of Hamad’s visit on Tuesday, human rights group Amnesty International warned Cameron that Bahrain is displaying “a façade of supposed reform” though the reality is that “critics and dissenting voices are just locked up and silenced”.
Fazel said the Bahraini opposition groups will surely continue peaceful protests, especially the Tamarod demonstration planned for August 14, despite the regime being fully geared up to suppress public rallies in the coming days.

Resolutions - International Day of Al-Quds:
The following Resolutions are intended to be read out at your event.
This peaceful representative gathering of freedom and justice-loving individuals from various faiths passes the following twelve resolutions:
1. We demand an immediate end to the 60 year occupation of Palestinian land by the criminal barbaric and terrorist Zionist regime and we support the return of millions of Palestinians who have been forced to live in refugee camps.
2. We support the Palestinians right of self-determination and to be governed by whoever they choose in a free and fair election.
3. We announce our boycott of corporations that support the Apartheid Zionist Regime and its heinous crimes, through their investments.
4. We demand an immediate release of over 10,000 political prisoners, the innocent being held in Zionist jails, especially women and children.
5. We respect Judaism but denounce Zionism as a racist, hateful and oppressive philosophy based on expulsion, oppression and occupation of the native population of Palestine.
6. We demand an immediate end to the siege of Gaza where innocent civilians, men, women and children, are living in poverty and suffering from malnutrition and disease, due to lack of employment, food, medicines and electricity.
7. We denounce the mainstream media for its biased coverage of the conflict, and for depicting the oppressive, criminal Zionist Regime as the victim; and the true owners of the land as \\\\\\\"oppressors\\\\\\\".
8. We completely reject: the effort to equate Zionism with Judaism. We also reject: the effort to equate condemnation of the Zionist state with anti-Semitism. We will not be intimidated by this bogus spin. This effort has been opposed and rejected by the truly religious Torah-abiding Jews.
9. We completely reject the Zionist justification of settlement and occupation, in the name of racial superiority, and we support the right of all victims of the Zionist Regime, including the injured, the prisoners and the refugees, to bring the Zionists war criminals to justice in a just court of Law.
10. We demand an immediate end to the biased and prejudiced attitude of the US administration in supporting the Apartheid regime under the influence of the Zionist lobbies in politics and media. We demand that our tax dollars and resources be focused on resolving the issues in our countries rather than funding the occupation and the war crimes of the Zionist Apartheid regime.
11. We demand an immediate and peaceful dismantling of the Zionist Regime, and call for a referendum with participation from the Christians, Jews and Muslims within the present day illegal borders of the Zionist Regime, as well as participation from Palestinians within the occupied territories and refugee camps scattered across the entire region, in order that they can decide their own fate. Without this dismantling of the cancerous Apartheid system of the Zionist Regime, there can be no peace in the region.
12. We demand that the Great Al-Aqsa Mosque be freed from the clutches of the Zionist Regime, and furthermore, we completely reject any and all Zionist claims made on Al-Quds Jerusalem.
Despite the influence of Zionist lobbies around the world, especially in US, today the Zionist Regime is recognized as a criminal, barbaric, racist and apartheid state by the masses around the world. The number of people standing up for the oppressed people of Palestine continues to grow and all of us promise to continue to raise awareness and stand in solidarity with the innocent Palestinians.

7. We denounce the mainstream media for its biased coverage of the conflict, and for depicting the oppressive, criminal Zionist Regime as the victim; and the true owners of the land as \\\"oppressors\\\".
8. We completely reject: the effort to equate Zionism with Judaism. We also reject: the effort to equate condemnation of the Zionist state with anti-Semitism. We will not be intimidated by this bogus spin. This effort has been opposed and rejected by the truly religious Torah-abiding Jews.

Al-Ghadir Day has been commemorated in the Yemeni capital by Shia community, who believe that on this day Prophet Muhammed (PBUH) appointed his cousin and son-in-law Ali Ibn Abi Taleb (AS) as the leader of Muslims more than fourteen centuries ago in the prophet\'s farewell speech.
Prominent members of the Houthi community who spoke at the podium, said, that Al-Ghadir day is one of the most important events to occur in Islamic history- in which Ali ibn Abi Taleb (AS) was dignified and givev elevated status by God, the Almighty.
The Houthi religious leader Abdul-Malik al Houthi also addressed the gathering via video conferencing from the north province of Sa\'ada. In his 40 minute speech, the Houthi leader highlighted the pressing issues facing the Muslim world. He said he believes the reason for chaos across the Islamic world- is their leaders who often seek protection and assistance from those he referred to as enemies of Islam.
Houthis in Yemen say they look to commemorate Al-Ghadir Day every year by calling on all Muslim nations to relinquish dependency on the West.
The Day of Al-Ghadir is significant in the Islamic history which is commemorated every year by Shia Muslims in Yemen. This is an auspicious day which many believe brought about the completion of the holy religion of Islam more than fourteen centuries ago.

Israel has approved 3,500 new settler homes in the occupied East Jerusalem Al-Quds and the West Bank, a move that the EU said it \\\"deplored\\\", recalling that settlements were illegal under international law. The UN has voiced the same, and the PA has said Israel intends to wreck the so called peace talks. In this debate, we will discuss why this repeated scenario, along with Israel\\\'s illegal actions exercised on Palestinians on occupied lands continues, with impunity.
