Palestinians in Gaza have staged yet another protest in support of prisoners held in Israeli jails. The protest was organized by Waed Society for Palestinian Prisoners as well as the Ministry of Awqaf and Religious Affairs. The Addameer Prisoner Support and Human Rights Association says, as of January 2014, there have been more than five-thousand Palestinian political prisoners in Israeli jails. The prisoners include 155 administrative detainees, 17 women and 154 children. Also, 10 Palestinian prisoners are now on a hunger strike in an attempt to end their sufferings and their administrative detention.

[13 April 2012] Bahrain uprising - Middle East Today - Presstv - English Rights activist Abdulhadi al-Khawaja's family is fear for his life in Bahraini jails. Khawaja, the co-founder and former president of the Bahrain Center for Human Rights, began a hunger strike in early February to protest against the life sentence he received last year and Manama's ongoing crackdown on peaceful protests. Amnesty International has also called for the 'immediate and unconditional release' of al-Khawaja, considering him a 'prisoner of conscience, detained solely for exercising his right to freedom of expression.' Hunger strikes seem to have an effect on the Israeli authorities who are holding thousands of Arabs and Palestinians in jails without trial. Why does it seem harder for Bahraini activists in jail with unjust sentences to get their rights? What are the humanitarian conditions which stipulate holding a UNSC meeting to discuss a crisis in a country?

[15 July 2012] Israel tortures Palestinian minors Maha Rezeq - English Israeli police officers continue their violence against Palestinian children, brutally attacking and mistreating them in Israeli jails. The Israeli authorities arrest around 700 Palestinian minors annually. Some 200 Palestinian children are arrested on a monthly basis. Press TV has conducted an interview with Maha Rezeq, child protection advocate, to hear her opinion on this issue.

A political analyst says there are currently 178 Palestinians on administrative detention in Israeli jails and this is against international law and international norms to illegally detain people without charge. The comments came after at least 150 people were injured after Israeli troops clashed with Palestinian protesters outside Ofer prison in the occupied West Bank. The protest was held to show solidarity with Palestinian prisoners who are on hunger strike in Israeli jails with protesters calling for their immediate release. Three journalists are reported to be among the injured. Press TV has conducted an interview with Adie Mormech, human rights activist, to further discuss the issue..

Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad says foreign forces orchestrated the post-election turmoil in the country and are thus responsible for its controversial aftermath, including alleged mistreatment of detainees in Iranian jails. In a pre-sermon speech to Friday prayers worshippers in Tehran University, President Ahmadinejad said he is in possession of evidence that exonerates "revolutionary, military, security and intelligence forces" from any allegations of detainee abuse
