The US Justice Department has clandestinely gained access to two months of telephone records of reporters and editors of The Associated Press in what the New York City-based news agency described as a \"massive and unprecedented intrusion.\" The records obtained by the Justice Department comprised outgoing calls for the work and personal phone numbers of individual reporters, for general AP office numbers in New York, Washington, and Hartford, Connecticut, and for the main number for the AP in the House of Representatives press gallery. In all, the US government obtained the records for more than 20 separate phone lines designated to AP and its correspondents in April and May of 2012. A Harsh Response by the IRGC to the United States of America | Maj. Gen. Husayn Salami On Thursday, June 20, 2019, an American unmanned spy drone violated the Iranian airspace. This illegal intrusion was met with a missile response by IRGC which blew up this expensive American drone into pieces. Iran\'s Islamic Revolution Guards Corps (IRGC) has captured a US ScanEagle drone over the Persian Gulf waters upon its intrusion into the Iranian airspace. IRGC Navy Commander Rear Admiral Ali Fadavi made the announcement on Tuesday, adding that the Iranian armed forces enjoy full intelligence command over foreign movements in the Persian Gulf region. Referring to the captured ScanEagle drone, the Iranian commander pointed out, \"Such drones are usually launched from large aircraft carriers.\" The ScanEagle drone, which has a 10ft (3m) wingspan, is a long-endurance aircraft built by Insitu, a subsidiary of Boeing.Iran has released footage of the captured drone. The records included calls from several AP bureaus and the personal phone lines of several staffers, AP President Gary Pruitt has called the subpoenas a \"massive and unprecedented intrusion\" into its reporting.\" These records potentially reveal communications with confidential sources across all of the newsgathering activities undertaken by the AP during a two-month period, provide a road map to AP\'s newsgathering operations and disclose information about AP\'s activities and operations that the government has no conceivable right to know,\" wrote Pruitt, the news agency\'s CEO. The AP reported that the government has not said why it wanted the records. But it noted that US officials have said they were probing how details of a foiled bomb plot that targeted a US-bound aircraft leaked in May 2012.
