The fresh round of violence started at border posts along the frontier on Thursday. Pakistani officials have accused Indian troops of initiating the violence by firing along the frontier and injuring two people. More tension between India and Pakistan as border guards on both sides continue to exchange fire in the Kashmiri region. This has forced panic-stricken civilians to leave border villages.

550 Palestinians were released from Israeli prisons on Sunday evening in the second and final phase of a prisoner swap deal between Hamas and Israel where 1,027 Palestinian prisoners were released by Israel in exchange for captured Israeli soldier Gilad Shalit. The freed prisoners were received by thousands of cheering family members and friends gathered in Ramallah to receive them. Out of the 550 freed prisoners, two are from Jerusalem al-Quds, 506 are from other parts of the West Bank, 40 from Gaza, and 2 are Jordanian. Also, Israel released 55 out of the 164 under-the-age-of-18-years-old Palestinian prisoners and 6 out of the 11 female prisoners. Before the release of the prisoners, confrontations broke out between anticipating Palestinian youth and the Israeli occupation forces in front of the Israeli Ofar prison, where the West bank prisoners were released from. 25 Palestinians and 1 Israeli soldier were wounded. 400 out of the 550 prisoners released on Sunday have finished two-thirds of their sentences. Since the first phase of the prisoner exchange, Israel has detained approximately the same number of Palestinians that it freed 2 months ago. Now The Palestinians have concerns that Israel will replace the 550 prisoners freed today with the same number of Palestinians in their prisons within the next few months.

A group of defiant US lawmakers will introduce a bill to impose more sanctions on Iran despite Washington\'s efforts to hold off new measures. Senate aides say a vote on the bipartisan plan is expected in January. The bill aims to target Iran\'s remaining oil exports and foreign exchange. The administration of President Barack Obama has been calling on lawmakers to delay any more sanctions as a diplomatic path with Tehran is pursued. Iran and the P5+1 group reached a nuclear deal in Geneva last month. Tehran agreed to limit its nuclear energy program in exchange for some sanctions relief. The sides have agreed to work to reach a comprehensive deal in six months. Tehran has warned that new US sanctions will kill the Geneva deal.

Iran tests radars on 3rd day of drills Iran's military has entered the third day of its biggest ever nationwide air drills, with testing radar capabilities in defending the country's territory. The anti-air defense units from Iran's Armed Forces and the Islamic Revolution Guards Corps (IRGC) are taking part in the five-day air defense maneuvers dubbed Defenders of Velayat Skies, which began on Tuesday. According to the spokesman for the military drills Brigadier Hamid Arzhangi, various kinds of fixed and mobile radars that have been domestically manufactured or refurbished would be tested during the third day of the drills on Thursday. He further explained that radars would be used to detect and identify objects and pass relevant data to the operational units. The military official added that all types of the country's radar systems, which would relay intelligence to the unified command and control network of the central headquarters, would be utilized and examined during the third day of the maneuvers. He pointed out that reconnaissance missions to detect state-of-the-art systems of theatrical enemies using radars were also on the agenda of the third day of drills. During the second day of the maneuvers on Wednesday, advanced equipment used for communication and exchange of intelligence along with modern electro-optical systems were successfully tested and utilized. The air maneuvers are being held near Iran's strategic sights and landmarks, aiming to assess performance of new air defense systems and enhance rapid response capabilities in countering potential aerial attacks. Iranian military officials say the drills convey a message of peace and friendship to neighboring countries and a fierce warning against enemies. Iran simulates Electronic Warfare in drills An Iranian commander says the Air Force has "analyzed and conducted" Electronic Warfare (EW) missions during the first three days of its biggest defense drills. "EW means jamming the enemies' electronic systems, equipment, and capabilities and the mission of this war is to seize and control electromagnetic fields," Colonel Moharam Qolizadeh said on Thursday. "We have analyzed and conducted EW missions in the drills [dubbed] 'Modafean Aseman Velayt 3' (Guardians of Velayati Skies)," he added. The colonel said the maneuvers were aimed at "spotting [the enemy] without being spotted" and tapping the enemy communications lines without compromising transmissions by Iranian forces. Earlier on Thursday, the spokesman for the military drills Brigadier General Hamid Arzhangi said Iran had successfully tested a new generation of its first domestically-manufactured air defense system during the third day of the nationwide air drills. The Mersad (Ambush) modern medium-range system is capable of spotting and destroying advanced aircraft at low and high altitudes. In addition to its high mobility, Mersad's new generation can be used in electronic warfare and can be networked with other radar and defense systems, Arzhangi added. The forces were also set to test various models of fixed and mobile radars that have been domestically manufactured or refurbished. A young Bahraini pro-democracy poetess just released from jail and placed under house arrest says she was mentally and physically tortured by male and female officers while in jail. “They beat me [for] nine days, morning and afternoon and at night… they beat me a lot, a lot, a lot. More than one person beat me at the same time, man and woman,” said Ayat al-Qurmezi in an exclusive phone interview with Press TV on Friday. Recounting her bitter experience while jailed by the Saudi-backed Bahraini regime, Qurmezi, hailed as 'freedom poet,' told Press TV that her interrogator and prison guards did not allow her to use a bathroom and used very offensive and derogatory language against herself and her parents. She confirmed that her jailers also threatened to kill her and to hurt her family, adding that she was forced to make confessions, as the only way for “the king to forgive me” and to be saved from the beatings, verbal abuse and other forms of torture. Qurmezi, however, stated that despite repeated threats by Bahraini authorities that she would be returned to jail if she speaks to any media outlets, she was not afraid and would continue to speak the words of the Bahraini people. Al-Qurmezi was arrested on March 30 for reciting anti-government poetry in the capital of Manama's Pearl Square. She was then charged with incitement and insulting members of the royal family and handed a one-year jail term. On Thursday, the 20-year-old said she had faced house arrest in exchange for freedom, but vowed to continue her freedom-seeking campaign. “And I won't be afraid because of a paper I signed,” Qurmezi said, referring to a pledge she had signed not to violate the terms of her arrest, join protests and speak to the media. Further, her family says she was forced by her jailors to clean filthy lavatories with her bare hands. In a popular uprising, tens of thousands of Bahraini protesters have been holding peaceful anti-regime rallies throughout the country since February, demanding an end to the rule of the Al Khalifa family. The royals have governed the oil-rich Persian Gulf island for over 40 years with major backing from the United States, Britain and the neighboring Saudi Arabia. There children on the scene who all saw it al infold and had disturbing reaction. Child - No I'm not scared of nothing. So far no suspects in the shootings." At first, a viewer might think the children were hardened soon to be street criminals. But someone at Chicago's WBBM leaked the entire interview to journalism watchdog groups Again we apologize for what you see but listen to what the reporter and the child actually said. "Reporter - when you get older you gonna stay away fromall these guns Child - No Reporter - No Child - No Reporter - What are you going to do when you get older? Child - I'm gonna have me a gun Reporter - You are ( child nods) Why do you want to do that? Child - I'm gonna be the police Reporter - OK then I guess you can have one" The exchange was sent all over the internet as bloggers and media groups blasted the TV Station for editing the story in a way that made the community look more violent. The US Civil rights group the NAACP wants action taken against the reporter and the editor. In American communities of color, civic groups have long complained about how they are portrayed on television and in newspapers. While many now say this is proof positive of a pervasive and long standing trend in American media, others who watch the industry say its is and isolated incident.
