Ukraine\'s political crisis has dominated the summit between the European Union and Russia, with Russian President Vladimir Putin assuring Ukrainians that Moscow would honor a loan deal whatever government emerges in Kiev. Despite that, trade talks between the EU and former soviet states continue to create tensions. The EU blames pressure from Moscow for the breakdown in trade negotiations between the EU and Ukraine. The EU also claims this has led to the current crisis in Ukraine. The EU and Russia have been negotiating a \'new basic agreement\', as it is called, for years.

The European Union has decided to bar all 28 member states from using any EU funds for projects in Israel\'s illegal settlements. Also beginning in 2014, all bilateral contracts must include a clause stating that East Jerusalem al-Quds, the Gaza Strip, the West Bank and Golan Heights are not a part of Israel. The directive will primarily affect research projects and financial grants. The declaration isn\'t a boycott of the colonies\' private sector, meaning the EU will continue to be Israel\'s number one trading partner, with some €30 billion in annual trade. But many are commending Brussels for finally introducing some accountability for the criminal theft of Palestinian land and resources. Analysts say that with the EU stuck in recession, Brussels is becoming more selective about their financial assistance for Israel. Pro-EU demonstrators are holding a new rally in Ukraine\'s capital Kiev against the government of President Viktor Yanukovych. They want Yanukovych to resign. This, after he withdrew from an agreement which would have paved the way for Kiev to join the European Union. Pro-EU demonstrators accuse Yanukovych of shelving the deal under Russia\'s Pressure. Out of anger at Russia, they have torn down a statue of Vladimir Lenin, the late founder of the former Soviet Union, of which Ukraine used to be a republic. Meanwhile, the security service has begun investigating alleged attempts by the opposition to topple the government. The investigation is said to be targeting opposition figures who demand Yanukovych step down.

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has condemned the European Union for summoning Israeli envoys over Tel Aviv\\\'s settlement plans. Netanyahu has slammed the EU\\\'s latest move, saying the bloc should end its quote hypocrisy over condemning Israeli settlements. Earlier in the day, Israel\\\'s ambassadors in Britain, France, Italy and Spain were summoned over Tel Aviv\\\'s latest settlement plans. A senior European diplomat says EU officials have made clear the settlement announcements have negative impacts on the so-called peace talks. The bloc\\\'s urged Israel to refrain from such moves and use the unique opportunity of talks to end the conflict between the two sides. The EU\\\'s latest move follows Tel Aviv\\\'s recent unveiling of a plan for more than 18-thousand new settler units in east Jerusalem al-Quds and the West Bank.

Members of the European Parliament call on US President Donald Trump not to impose 7.5 billion dollars\' worth of tariffs on EU goods. Once again, the highly controversial US president has been the focus of heavy criticism in the European Parliament over his unilateralism. Dealing in cash only is the traditional method used by tax dodgers to avoid paying the state a portion of their incomes. Now, though the digital era has taken centre stage and money can be shifted electronically right around the globe using any number of accounts. The European Commission says forcing institutions to become more transparent is the key to curtailing the problem. The Commission says it is vital that governments around the world co-operate with the EU on this issue. We asked ordinary EU citizens about their views on these latest measures which are designed to curtail illegal tax evasion within the union estimated to be worth one trillion euro annually. The annual European Union Budget is worth hundreds of billions of euro and now those in charge of administering it are admitting that huge amounts of taxpayers\' cash are being siphoned off by fraudsters. Member states are failing to adequately deal with the fraud problem so the EU Commission says it is setting up a European Public Prosecutor\'s Office which apparently will take a zero tolerance approach. The Commission estimates that €500m is lost each year through crimes against the EU Budget. At present only 42% of suspected cases are prosecuted. The Commission says the new prosecutor\'s office will pursue approximately 2,500 new cases each year. The office will commence work on the 1st of January 2015. Jerome Hughes, Press TV, Brussels

After months of intense Israeli and US lobbying the EU has finally taken action against Lebanon\\\'s resistance movement Hezbollah. During an EU foreign ministers meeting in Brussels, the European body announced its anti-Hezbollah measure by placing what they called Hezbollah\\\'s military wing on the E-U terrorism list.

Moroccan police clash with protesters in the Western Sahara who were demonstrating against the planned renewal of an EU fishing accord. The protesters, most of them women, carried signs reading stop taking our resources. Police attacked protesters using batons, beating and injuring many of them. Many of the injured were women and children. No arrests have been reported. The European Parliament is scheduled to vote Tuesday on a new four-year fishing agreement with Morocco that would allow more than 120 EU fishing boats to use the waters of Morocco and the Western Sahara. Western Sahara is a disputed territory in North Africa. Most of the territory has been controlled by Morocco since 1991.

Italians have held nationwide protests against their government and the EU\'s economic policies. Traffic was halted and shops were closed in fear of attacks in a number of Italian cities. Press TV\'s correspondent in Italy, Max Civili has the story.

The European Union says it\'s ready to suspend some sanctions against Iran as soon as experts check that Tehran is implementing the terms of the Geneva deal. The bloc says it backs the deal as a sign of the commitment of all sides to build trust over Iran\'s nuclear activities. A statement from EU foreign ministers says a swift implementation of the voluntary measures by all sides is now key. The statement also adds that Iran has to implement its commitments in good faith and the EU is committed to suspending sanctions as set out in the deal. The bloc says sanctions will be suspended after inspectors from the International Atomic Energy Agency verify the implementation of nuclear-related measures by Iran.
