Shaheed Aitizaz Hassan: A Pakistani school boy from Hangu District in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province who sacrificed his life while preventing a suicide bomber from entering his school on January 6, 2014. The school is located at the Ibrahimzai village of Hangu and it is the primary source of education for 2000 students. Aitzaz\\\\\\\'s action to save his classmates captured the hearts of many in Pakistan; he was hailed as a national hero and awarded with the high civil award of Pakistan Sitara-e-Shujaat (Star of Bravery). Amidst the existing paralysis of action and amidst the purposeful ambiguity being created in Pakistan to not only exonerate Taliban but to make them out into Islamic heroes , the likes of Shaheed Aitizaz Hassan must proudly be raised as a flag under which the forces of correction gather together to assert its will against the gathering Khariji and Takfiri storm. It is not only a way to remember the great sacrifice of our martyrs but it is also a practical step to gain center stage in the battle of wills that is unfolding; the narrative must be won before the war is won. International women\'s day has been celebrated for over a century, and since then it has manifested itself in different ways in each and every culture. In some countries it has morphed into a sort of Valentine\'s Day. In others the day highlights points that the United Nations intended by creating the occasion. Light is shed on human rights, women\'s rights, and the ongoing struggles of women worldwide. In Iran woman\'s day means all that and a little more. Many husbands choose this day to show their appreciation for their wives, and the ongoing efforts to assert women\'s rights are highlighted. But the occasion has added significance in Iran, because of the people\'s Islamic faith, which emphasizes the holy status of women in society. That might be news for someone with little information about the Islamic faith, but Muslims have numerous laws designed specifically to assert women\'s rights, written in a time when baby girls were such a disgrace for their family, they were buried alive at birth. The role of women in any society is a subject of much controversy and debate. In Iran that debate is very much alive as well, with its own specific aspects. In recent months talks of strife between Lebanon\\\'s two largest Muslim sects - Sunnis and Shiites - have been brought to the limelight. These talks were backed by several attacks carried out against the two sides. The last of which was an explosion which rocked the Lebanese Southern suburb - a pre-dominantly Shiite region - earlier this week. It was preceded by the attempted assassination of two Sunni clerics in June as well. As international media outlets been employing such incidents to report on what they describe as Sunni-Shiite tensions in Lebanon, Lebanese scholars assert that such a divide does not exist and that these attacks have the fingerprints of extremist affiliates trying to turn the two sides against one another.
