[09 Oct 2013] Sudan president: Recent violent protests aim to topple Govt - English

The main aim of this exhibition is to tell the truth about the armed conflict in Syria. Several journalists, taking part in the event, have recently visited the crisis-hit Arab nation and collected exclusive photographs and videos. They\'ve also brought back various objects with them which give the audience a feeling of being there. Among them is this wrecked car. It was loaded with over a ton of explosives. It is part of the evidence of a suicide bomb attack carried out in Damascus on 21 February just outside the Russian Embassy in which dozens of people were killed. This car was travelling behind a truck which was exploded on that fateful day. Its driver got injured before he could detonate the explosives. The car itself was badly damaged but police managed to removed the explosives safely. The photographers also managed to visit areas targeted by chemical weapons. They saw ruined buildings - including hospitals, schools and churches. They weren\'t allowed to film the actual army operations against militants. However, their main aim was to capture its devastating impacts. The organizers of the exhibition say the people they met in Syria remain hopeful that the conflict will end soon. However, this unique exhibition allows people elsewhere to take a glimpse of deadly carnage and devastations in Syria.

Many – if not most – human beings go through life without ever truly undergoing the necessary transformation into the best that we can be. We come to this world as caterpillars, and it is our aim to develop into butterflies. But we often remain as crawling creatures of this lowly dimension, devouring our way through the dunya (worldly life), blind, deaf and dumb. Several government officials from China including its Deputy Min. of Culture, Dong Wei, are visiting Tehran. The aim of the visit is to increase bilateral and economic ties especially in the field of culture. Saturday the Chinese delegation visited the capital\\\'s Islamic Culture & Relations organization (ICRO). There they met the deputy of the ICRO, Masnur Ehtesami, to sign several agreements to enhance cultural ties between the two nations. Both officials explained how one way of increasing culture is through the historic Silk Road.

US Defense Secretary Chuck Hagel is in Pakistan with an aim to defuse tensions over Washington\'s controversial drone strikes in the country. Hagel flew from Kabul to Islamabad to meet with Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif and other top officials-- including the new army chief. Ties between Washington and Islamabad have been seriously strained over Washington\'s deadly drone campaign in Pakistan\'s tribal areas. Human rights groups and Pakistani politicians say the missile attacks often claim civilian lives and must be stopped. In recent weeks, opposition activists in northwestern Pakistan have disrupted war supplies to US-led foreign forces in neighboring Afghanistan. The rising anti-US sentiment has prompted American officials to halt the shipments.

Russia says the aim of the Geneva Two conference is NOT seeking regime change in Syria. According to Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov, the main objective of the conference is in fact to launch an inter-Syrian dialog. He added that the issue of the ouster of the Syrian government is not part of the original US-Russian initiative. Lavrov also lashed out at the UN decision to withdraw Iran\'s invitation to Syria talks as a mistake. He made it clear that the decision however will not affect Iran\'s efforts in fighting terrorism. The Russian foreign minister said the future of Syria must be determined by both the government and the opposition.
