Militancy on the rise in Egypt\'s northern Sinai. Eleven soldiers have been killed and nearly 40 others injured in an attack in the coastal city of el-Arish. The Egyptian soldiers were killed when a bomber rammed his explosive-laden car into their bus on its way to the capital Cairo. Officials say the soldiers belonged to the Second Field Army that\'s fighting militants in the Sinai Peninsula. No person or group has claimed responsibility for the deadly attack yet. Tensions in Sinai have been on the rise following the ouster of president Mohamed Morsi by the army in early July. Militants have mainly targeted policemen, soldiers and politicians. One of the deadliest attacks happened back in August when militants pulled 25 police recruits off a bus and shot them dead on the main road linking Rafah to el-Arish.

A day after the Iranian Embassy in Lebanon was rocked with brazen terrorist attacks; its doors have remained open to receive delegations of visitors who poured into the embassy to offer their condolences. Iran\'s Deputy FM Hossein Amir Abdollahian arrived late on Wednesday to receive condolences for the victims of the twin bombings. An estimated 5 and 65 kilograms of explosive each claimed the lives of 23 people - including Iran\'s Cultural Attache, Ebrahim Ansari and 5 other Iranians - and wounding scores others.

Meeting in the Turkish seaside resort of Bodrum under the auspices of the UJN the scholars, who represent all of Pakistan\\\'s major Islamic sects and tendencies, agreed to come together to tackle religious intolerance in the interests of Muslim unity. The signatories include Sahibzada Muhammad Hamid Raza of the Sunni Ittehad Council, Sahibzada Muhammad Hamid Raza of Jamiat Ahle Hadith and Allama Syed Niaz Hussain Shah of Hoza Ilmia Jamia Al Muntazar. The 11-point UJN Pakistan Unity Declaration commits the signatories and the UJN to sign statements in the upcoming Islamic month of Muharram denouncing the killing of fellow human beings on the basis of colour, creed, ethnicity or religion as haram. The statements will also declare excommunication or takfir against fellow Muslims and abusing the Prophet Muhammad\\\'s family and companions as against the Shariah. Also party to the accord were Allama Mohammad Sadiq Qureshi (Minhaj ul Quran International), Maulana Syed Ali Murtaza Zaidi (Jamay Imamia), Liaqat Baloch, MP (Jamaat-e-Islami) and Muhammad Sarwat Ejaz Qadri (Pakistan Sunni Tahreek). The accord is based on Charter 3:103, initiated by the Islamic Human Rights Commission in 1997 and now a UJN core project, and since adopted by scores of Muslim organisations, which calls for Muslims to be united in accordance with the 103rd verse of the third chapter of the Holy Quran. It also addresses the challenging problem of madrasas in Pakistan, believed to be a breeding ground of intolerance, recommending that syllabuses and curriculums under the signatories\\\' respective spheres of influence address the need for respect, harmony and peace between all members of Pakistani society. Chair of IHRC, and UJN co-ordinator, Massoud Shadjareh said: \\\"The signing of the declaration is a detrmined step out of the quagmire of murder and fear that has come to characterise the landscape in Pakistan. Egyptian security forces kill a student after storming the dormitory of al-Azhar University. Dozens others are injured. Security forces have also detained dozens of students who support ousted president Mohamed Morsi. One of the buildings inside the university campus was set on fire during the attack in the capital, Cairo. On Wednesday, Egyptians staged protests against military rule in different towns and cities, including Alexandria, Tanta and Helwan. The demonstrators chanted slogans against army chief Abdel Fattah el-Sisi. Egypt has been gripped by a political crisis and street protests since the army toppled President Morsi in early July. Thousands have been killed as the military cracks down on demonstrations across the country. Thousands of others have also been arrested.

Two weeks after the Lebanese Army set up checkpoints throughout Tripoli, the Lebanese Internal Security Forces erected additional checkpoints and launched new patrols as part of the second phase of the government\'s security plan to restore security in rival Tripoli neighborhoods of Bab al-Tabbaneh and Jabal Mohsen.

Shares in French automakers PSA Peugeot Citroen and Renault have soared after the landmark nuclear deal between Iran and the P5+1. Shares in Peugeot jumped nearly 4.5 percent while Renault shares rose to above one-percent in afternoon trade on Monday. The nuclear deal signed early Sunday fuels expectations that the two French car makers could quickly re-enter the Iranian market. Iran used to be Peugeot\'s second-biggest market in car sales volumes before Western sanctions against Tehran were toughened. Last year, the car-maker halted sales to Iran to comply with the sanctions, costing it nearly 10 percent of its global vehicle deliveries. Renault announced a nearly 700 million-dollar write-down because of damage to its business in Iran.

Syrian army has retaken control of a town near the capital Damascus after fierce battles with foreign-backed insurgents. The battles raged on around Deir Atiyah in Qalamoun area that links Damascus to the central city of Homs and east of the capital. The Syrian army has launched a new round of mop-up operations. Clashes are also underway in Marj area near the capital. Some reports say, the army forces have killed at least nine insurgents in the area. Syria has been gripped by deadly violence since March 2011. Damascus accuses the West and its regional allies of fueling tension by providing the insurgents with money and weapons.

Some members of Congress are pushing for a new list of sanctions against Iran. But the White House is calling on senators to hold off. It says new sanctions against Iran would make Washington appear to be acting in bad faith in its nuclear outreach to Tehran.

A U-S drone has crashed in Afghanistan\\\'s eastern Nangarhar province. Shortly after the incident, Taliban militants arrived at the site and took away the crashed aircraft with them. The militants have claimed that they shot down the unmanned aircraft. U-S forces have also been deployed in the area searching for the drone. The U-S uses drones both for air strikes and reconnaissance operations. The attacks frequently cause civilian deaths in the war-torn country.

A 14 year-old Palestinian boy has been killed after being run over by an Israeli settler near Jerusalem al-Quds. Amin Musa al-Fakeer was critically wounded on Saturday and transferred to hospital where he was pronounced dead. According to his family, Amin was on his way to buy goods and was travelling with his donkey when he was run over by an Israeli from the Maale Adumim settlement. Amin\'s family is still awaiting the Israelis to return his body to Bedouin camp Anata where they live.

After months-long training, Iran\\\'s Imam Khomeini Relief Foundation and the Iranian embassy in Somalia held the graduation ceremony of more than fifty women and girls in Mogadishu on Wednesday. Through its training centers in Mogadishu, Iran has assisted Somali women by offering them training in the fields of tailoring and use of computers. The women and girls were issued with sewing machines and certificates upon completion of their respective courses in a colorful event that was held in capital city\\\'s Hamar Weyne district.

Thousands of Yemeni demonstrators pour into the streets of the capital Sana\'a after Friday prayers, calling for the downfall of the government. The protesters criticized the government\'s failure to end the violence in the country which has risen in the month of December, following a number of politically motivated assassinations and the attack on Yemen\'s defense ministry which killed over 56 people .

After a week of bloody clashes in southern Yemen, negotiations have resumed in Sana\'a at the national dialogue conference, where the country\'s political factions have been meeting for over the past 8 months to find solutions for the pressing issues. One of the main issues is the southern case which remains unresolved. A new proposal was put forward last week which insists on the creation of a federal system. Southern representatives in the NDC however say justice must first be served for the years of repression sustained in the south under the previous regime.
