Iran, the European Union and the US hold talks on remaining issues related to implementing the Geneva deal between Tehran and the P5+1. The talks in Geneva come a few days after expert-level negotiations between representatives of Iran and the five permanent members of the UN Security Council plus Germany. The Iranian deputy foreign minister says there are still three technical points that need to be further discussed. Based on the Geneva deal between Iran and the P5+1, Tehran will limit some aspects of its nuclear energy program in return for the removal of some sanctions.

They show American soldiers burning the remains of dead Iraqis and then posing for pictures with their skeletons. According to the website, the photographs were turned over to the US Department of Defense last week. The Pentagon is currently investigating the authenticity of the photos and the identities of the servicemen involved. The US attacked Iraq under the pretext that the regime of former Iraqi dictator Saddam Hussein possessed weapons of mass destruction. WMDs were never found in the country and the war killed hundreds of thousands of people.

A US federal appeals court has rejected the plea by a Saudi national who\'s serving life in prison for trying to make a bomb. 23-year-old Khalid Ali Aldawsari, a former Texas college student, was convicted nearly two years ago of attempting to use a weapon of mass destruction. Prosecutors said he had collected bomb-making materials in his Lubbock apartment and researched possible targets -- including former President George W. Bush\'s Dallas home. In the appeal to the New Orleans-based court, Aldawsari\'s lawyers contended that the trial judge improperly allowed evidence and gave invalid jury instructions.

US President Barack Obama has renewed his presidential campaign vow to shut the notorious military jail at Guantanamo Bay. Obama said the U-S Congress should first lift the remaining restrictions on prisoners\' transfers. However, he stopped short of offering any proposal on how to close the jail, with its remaining one-hundred 55 inmates. Obama made the remarks during his State of the Union address at the U-S Capitol Hill. He also touched on America\'s foreign policy, promising to declare an end to the 12-year war in Afghanistan at the end of 20-14. On a different note, he spoke of Iran\'s nuclear energy program, and vowed to veto any new sanctions bill against Tehran. Obama urged the congress to give diplomacy a chance to succeed.

In the US, a camera crew from an Atlanta television station has filmed an incident that shows why Icy roads require their own kind of driving skills! The footage shows a vehicle sliding down a hill before hitting the side of the road. Moments later a passer-by in hi-visibility jacket comes to help the driver but only before another car spins out of control and slams into the stationary car. But that\'s not all. After bystanders call an ambulance for the drivers, a third car skids across the same part of the icy road and comes to an abrupt stop near the first two. The incident follows a snow storm that had nearly shut down Atlanta on Wednesday.

Iran\'s foreign minister says the US had an illusion that it could totally dismantle Tehran\'s nuclear facilities and this illusion had thwarted any possible deal. Zarif says there\'s still deep mistrust between the two sides and both need to work to build trust. At a meeting with the presence of the IAEA chief, Zarif also noted that it would be a big mistake to assume Iran has participated in talks because of sanctions. He says when sanctions were first imposed only 200 centrifuges were working, but now Tehran has 19-thousand centrifuges. Zarif says nuclear technology is now localized in Iran, and Tehran does not need the help of other countries. For his part, the Director General of the International Atomic Energy Agency Yukia Amano said Tehran is meeting its commitments within the framework of the Geneva agreement.

A Russian official accuses the US of arming Ukrainian anti-government militants

The US Secretary of State criticizes Russia for what he calls support for Syrian President Bashar al-Assad. John Kerry has said that with support from Moscow, Damascus stonewalled the second round of peace talks in Geneva. He added that such support would let the Syrian president continue destroying his own country. Kerry also blamed the Syrian government for the failure of the Geneva talks-- saying the government delegation refused to open up one moment of discussion during the meetings. Kerry made the remarks hours after Syrian Foreign Minister Walid al-Muallem accused Washington of trying to create a very negative climate for dialog in Geneva.

As International diplomacy with Iran over its nuclear program enters the next phase, Iranians talk of their demands from the six world powers for the upcoming talks in Vienna. Iranians on the streets told us of their concerns and the mistrust that has been built from the actions of the West, especially the US. Just three months ago in Geneva, optimism followed the interim deal between Iran and the so-called 5p+1, Britain, China, France, Russia and the U.S., plus Germany.

Russia has dismissed the US expansion of sanctions against Iran as illegitimate. Russia\'s Deputy Foreign Minister says the move has no legal ground, and could ruin a positive basis for progress in the upcoming nuclear talks between Tehran and the P-five-plus-one group. Julia Lyubova reports from Moscow.

Media reports say the US is re-visiting its options on Syria to step up pressure on the Arab nation. U-S paper The Wall Street Journal says the move means Washington will again consider military and intelligence options, that were previously presented to the White House but set aside in favor of pursuing international talks. The options reportedly range from expanding efforts to train and equip insurgents, to setting-up no-fly zones over Syria. This comes as the U-S is already funding and supplying arms to the militants fighting to topple the Syrian government. The arms supplies have however failed to make changes on the ground in Syria in favor of the insurgents.

NATO chief Anders Fogh Rasmussen says Afghan President Hamid Karzai will likely leave the signing of a security pact with the US to his successor. Rasmussen says he believes that Karzai will not sign the long-stalled pact until April\'s presidential election. The deal would allow American troops to stay in Afghanistan beyond the withdrawal deadline of the end of 2014. Rasmussen has acknowledged that NATO expects a separate pact with Kabul which would be impossible without a deal with the U-S. Back in November, Karzai told an assembly of elders known as the Loya Jirga that he will not sign the deal until certain conditions are met. He\'s demanded that the US immediately stop its military operations on Afghan homes.
