Reports say the ring-leader of the al-Qaeda-linked group, Abdullah Azzam Brigades, was a high-ranking official of Saudi Arabia\'s intelligence service.
Media reports also say that Riyadh put heavy pressure on Lebanon to extradite Majed al-Majed before his death in detention on Saturday. Meanwhile, Iran\'s Intelligence Minister Mahmoud Alavi has said that Tehran doesn\'t have much information about the death of Majed, but it knows he died under suspicious circumstances. Majed was the man behind the recent terrorist attack on the Iranian Embassy in Beirut. His group launched the attack outside the embassy on November 19, killing 23 people including an Iranian diplomat. Over a hundred 60 others were also injured. A US federal appeals court has rejected the plea by a Saudi national who\'s serving life in prison for trying to make a bomb.
23-year-old Khalid Ali Aldawsari, a former Texas college student, was convicted nearly two years ago of attempting to use a weapon of mass destruction. Prosecutors said he had collected bomb-making materials in his Lubbock apartment and researched possible targets -- including former President George W. Bush\'s Dallas home. In the appeal to the New Orleans-based court, Aldawsari\'s lawyers contended that the trial judge improperly allowed evidence and gave invalid jury instructions.

The leader of the Lebanese resistance movement Hezbollah says Israel and the United States have infiltrated terrorist Takfiri groups operating in the Middle East region and are using them to promote their own interests.
Nasrallah, speaking at a ceremony held to commemorate the martyrdom of resistance commanders, noted that the Saudi-backed Takfiri groups are seeking to sow sectarian discord throughout the entire region. He described the al-Nusrah Front and the militants associated with the group called the Islamic State of Iraq and Syria -- or ISIL -- as the best examples of the Saudi-backed Takfiri mindset. Nasrallah defended the fact that Hezbollah members are fighting against Takfiri groups in Syria, saying that the Lebanese resistance movement has not changed its policy in this regard.
