A Salafist movement confirms that at least 77 Jordanian nationals have been killed in Syria since the beginning of the unrest in the Arab country. The Jordanian Salafist Movement has said the slain militants were fighting under the banner of the al-Nusra Front. It added that there are at least 15-hundred Jordanian nationals fighting in Syria, most of them members of the al-Nusra Front and the Islamic State of Iraq and the Levant. A very large number of the militants fighting against the Syrian government are reportedly foreign nationals. Latest reports also suggest that more than 210 extremists have traveled from Germany to Syria since the conflict started about three years ago. The Syrian government says the West and its regional allies, including Qatar, Saudi Arabia, and Turkey, are supporting the militants.

Video footage has surfaced online showing radical Salafist Sheikh Ahmad al-Aseer beating up a Lebanese abductee with his rifle. The hardline cleric, whose extremist group of Salafists had recently kidnapped Mohammad Abu Zahr in the Abra region of the city of Sidon in southern Lebanon, is shown with some of his companions hitting the man. Aseer had previously denied having attacked Abu Zahr. The radical Sheikh is on the run from the Lebanese military after his armed group launched a deadly attack on an army post last month, leading to the death of 20 soldiers and injuring a number of others in the ensuing confrontations. Al-Asir is notorious for his animosity towards the Lebanese Resistance Movement, Hezbollah, and his staunch support for the insurgents in Syria. But by attacking the Lebanese army, he has turned himself into a wanted outlaw.

At least 60 people have been killed in clashes between Houthi fighters and pro-Salafist tribal gunmen in northwestern Yemen. The fighting occurred in Amran province, near the border with Saudi Arabia. There have been battles between Houthi fighters and gunmen from the Hashid tribe in the area since early January. Hundreds of people have been killed in the clashes between Houthi fighters and Salafi militants since October.

Nasrallah defends Hezbollah fighting extremists in Syrian town of Qusayr Hezbollah Secretary-General Seyyed Hassan Nasrallah has defended the Lebanese resistance movement\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\'s decision to fight foreign-backed militants in the Syrian border town of al-Qusayr. Nasrallah made the remarks on Saturday during a ceremony marking the 13th anniversary of the withdrawal of Israeli troops from southern Lebanon, known as the Liberation Day. The Hezbollah leader said if foreign-backed militants win the war on Syria, they will turn their weapons on Lebanon. Nasrallah further pointed out that the extremist Salafist groups form the backbone of the unrest in Syria, adding that the US-backed armed groups are also a threat to all Lebanese communities. The Syrian army pressed ahead to liberate al-Qusayr in Homs Province fully from the foreign-backed militants on Saturday, seizing al-Daba\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\'a military airport north of the town. The army also regained control of the Ba\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\'ath Party headquarters in the strategic town that borders Lebanon, killing large numbers of foreign-backed militants. The government forces have inflicted losses on the militants and destroyed their weaponry and equipment. Nasrallah said the ongoing war in Syria is part of an American project to change the balance of power in the region in favor of the Israeli regime. He, however, promised victory against the Salafist groups in Syria. \\\\\\\\\\\\\\\"I say to all the honorable people, to the Mujahedeen, to the heroes: I have always promised you a victory and now I pledge to you a new one\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\" in Syria, he said. \\\\\\\\\\\\\\\"We will continue along the road ... bear the responsibilities and the sacrifices. Stand4Hussain.org celebratd the birthday of Imam Hussain (pbuh) in yet another innovative fashion by handing out free food and painting the faces of kids in a market place in Oslo. Comments by one of the volunteers: The program went very well and better than expected alhamdullilah :) There were almost exclusively positive people who talked to us, and we got a great deal of positive feedback. Not the least the neighbors (the stands), who were impressed with the job and were surprised that we handed out free food and that we were told that we must take good care of our neighbours, for it is part of Islam's principles and values. The questions we received during the stand were of different kinds such as "you are the good Muslims then?" due to the free distribution of food and we were quite happy throughout. Someone else asked if we followed Saudi Arabia's religion or operated the same way as IslamNet (Salafist org. in Norway). The majority also asked about why we celebrated the birthday of exactly this personality. There were also some others who had not known that the grandchildren of prophet Muhammad (saaw) played a big role in Islam and that they existed in Islam at all. Also there was a person who recognised Imam Hussain (as) through Mahatma Gandhi .... SubhanAllah A wonderful experience it was;)

As the war in Syria drags into its third year, a growing number of Takfiri and Salafist extremists affiliated to al-Qaeda are making their way into the ranks of militants fighting Bashar al-Assad. The secretary general of Hezbollah says these extremists are killing Shias, Sunnis, Christians and others in Iraq, Pakistan, Somalia, Yemen and elsewhere. Observers say the policy of support for insurgents in Syria is only giving extremists a stronger foothold and making their threat to the region and the world even more serious; like what happened in London where a serving solider was butchered to death.
