Canadians pack Nathan Philip Square in Toronto to express solidarity with the oppressed people of Kashmir Sunday August 18 (Toronto) – thousands of Canadians packed Toronto’s iconic Nathan Philip Square in Toronto to raise their voices in support of the oppressed people of Kashmir. Organized by Friends of Kashmir Canada, people from all walks of life and belonging to all faiths attended. They included Muslims, Christians, Sikhs and people of other faiths. Iraqi Prime Minister Adil Abdul-Mahdi has declared a curfew in the capital, Baghdad, until further notice as protests continue against alleged economic problems. In a statement released on Thursday, Abdul-Mahdi said “all vehicles and individuals are totally forbidden to move” in Baghdad from 05:00 a.m. local time (02:00 GMT). Travelers to and from the city’s airport, and ambulances, government employees in hospitals and in electricity and water departments, as well as religious pilgrims are exempt from the curfew, the statement added. Hezbollah’s secretary-general says the United Arab Emirates (UAE)’s move earlier this month to normalize relations with Israel was a “free-of-charge service” provided by Abu Dhabi to the politically-embattled officials in Israel and the United States. “The Emirates’ move was service given free of charge to Donald Trump, the president of the United States, and Benjamin Netanyahu, the prime minister of the Zionist regime,” Sayyed Hassan Nasrallah said during his annual address marking Ashura, the martyrdom anniversary of the third Shia Imam, Imam Hussein (PBUH).
