US President Barack Obama is ending his fifth year in office matching the worst public approval ratings of his presidency. A new poll shows that Obama\'s approval rating has hit a new record low.
The poll, conducted by ABC News and the Washington Post, shows that just 43 percent of US citizens currently approve the president\'s job performance down 11 points from this time last year. The poll has put the US president\'s disapproval at 55 percent up from 42 percent last year. That\'s the highest unpopularity mark in Obama\'s presidency so far. Political analysts say the US president\'s controversial healthcare law, known as the Obamacare, and his weak national security strategies are some of the main reasons for his waning popularity

A newly-released poll shows many people in Arab states view Israel and the U-S as the greatest threats to their countries.
According to the survey by the French polling institute, Socio-vision, about forty percent of people in the Arab world view Israel as the most vicious threat against them. 15 percent of those polled said the US posed the greatest threat. This comes despite Washington and Tel Aviv\'s attempts to portray a negative image of Iran in the eyes of regional Arab nations. The poll was conducted in 12 Arab states in January.

US President Barack Obama\'s approval rating has declined to an all-time low.
According to a recent opinion poll conducted jointly by the NBC News and Wall Street Journal, only 42 percent of Americans approve of Obama\'s political performance. That\'s down 5 points from early October. Pollsters say a combination of issues including the N-S-A spying scandal, Washington\'s stance on Syria and the government shutdown is responsible for the decline. On an even more negative tone, only 22-percent of respondents think the nation\'s headed in the right direction.

A new opinion poll shows that most Americans disapprove of their country\'s invasion of Afghanistan.
According to the Associated Press poll, 57 percent of Americans said the U-S move was wrong in the first place. 53 percent of the respondents also said the pace of U-S withdrawal from Afghanistan is too slow. The United States and its allies invaded Afghanistan in the wake of the nine-eleven attacks of 2001 in New York. At least three-thousand-four-hundred and four foreign troops have so far been killed in the country, nearly 23-hundred of them are American. Other polls have also shown in recent years that the war is one of the most unpopular US military expeditions abroad in American history.

Opposition to the U-S assassination drone strikes is growing across the globe.
The Washington-based Pew Research Centre, which carried out a survey on the issue in 39 countries, has found out that half or more than half of the respondents in 31 of these countries disapprove of U-S drone attacks.
The research shows that in most of the countries polled, there continues to be an extensive opposition to the American drone campaign in countries such as Pakistan, Yemen and Somalia.

A new poll gives yet another grim assessment of US-led wars in Iraq and Afghanistan. A majority of Americans now say their country failed to achieve its goals in either country.
According to a joint USA Today-Pew Research survey, about 52 percent of Americans say their country has not succeeded in Iraq and Afghanistan. A majority of respondents also criticized the U-S military action in Iraq. Views on the failure in Iraq differ little across party lines. However, there\'s division over the Afghan war with more Republicans than Democrats calling it the right decision. The public\'s critical assessment stands in contrast to opinions in 2011 after al-Qaeda-leader Osama bin Laden was allegedly killed by the US in Pakistan.

Five more American soldiers have lost their lives in Afghanistan's volatile south, bringing to 12 the number of foreign soldiers killed over the past 48 hours.
NATO's International Security Assistance Force (ISAF) said on Wednesday that four of the soldiers lost their lives in a bomb attack, while the other one was killed in a gunfight with the Taliban in the volatile south.
The latest casualties come a day after seven NATO soldiers -- four British and three American -- were killed in the war-torn country.
Meanwhile, Taliban spokesman Qari Yousuf Ahmadi claimed that militants have killed 13 American troops and seven Afghan soldiers during an attack on a military outpost in Kandahar.
Over 350 foreign troops have been killed in Afghanistan so far this year.
Some 140,000 US-led troops are currently stationed Afghanistan. A further 10,000 are expected to be deployed there in the coming weeks.
NATO's mounting death toll has caused public support to plummet for the Afghan war across Europe and the US.
Meanwhile, results of a CBS poll show most Americans believe the war in Afghanistan is a no-win scenario.
The poll says 60 percent of American people think the war is being handled badly.
Fifty-one percent of Americans want the US government to set a date for the withdrawal of troops from Afghanistan.
