The reality is that while the majority of Shia Muslims do have a different understanding to Sunnis when it comes to historical figures, most Shia Muslims have the common sense to avoid expressing such sentiments which will brew hatred. Most Muslims, both Sunni and Shia alike, want unity despite their differences - which are small in comparison to the vast similarities shared by the two Islamic Schools of Thought.

October 22 occupies a prominent place in Kashmir\'s chequered history. On this day, twenty years ago, more than 40 unarmed civilians were mowed down by Indian forces in south Kashmir\'s Bij-behara town. they were part of a protest demonstration against the siege of Kashmir\'s revered Hazratbal shrine by Indian army. The deadliest attack took place on Baqubah where a bomb blast left eleven people dead. The explosion also left 19 people injured. Earlier, gunmen shot dead seven shepherds northeast of the city. Nearly a thousand people were killed in terrorist attacks countrywide in November alone. Iraqi officials blame the attacks on al-Qaeda and the remnants of the former Ba\'athist regime.

According to a newly released report by the Press Freedom Watchdog, 2013 was one of the hardest years for media personnel in Egypt -- both under former president Mohamed Morsi and months that followed his removal. Violations against the press ranged from physical attacks to legal persecution under the pretext of spreading false information Last year, six journalists were killed while on the job. Another danger faced by journalists in Egypt is a growing distrust of the public against foreign news organizations.
