Live in big cities because they are collective centres of the Muslims. Avoid places of neglectfulness and wickedness and places where there are paucity of supporters for the obedience of Allah. Confine your thinking to matters which are helpful to you. Do not sit in the marketing centres because they are the meeting-places of Satan, and targets of mischiefs. Frequently look at those over whom you enjoy superiority because this is a way of giving thanks. وَاسْكُنِ الاْمْصَارَ الْعِظَامَ فَإِنَّهَا جِمَاعُ الْمُسْلِمِينَ، وَاحْذَرْ مَنَازِلَ الْغَفْلَةِ وَالْجَفَاءِ وَقِلَّةَ الاْعْوَانِ عَلَى طَاعَةِ اللهِ، وَاقْصُرْ رَأْيَكَ عَلَى مَا يَعْنِيكَ، وَإِيَّاكَ وَمَقَاعِدَ الاْسْوَاقِ، فَإِنَّهَا مَحَاضِرُ الشَّيْطَانِ وَمَعَارِيضُ الْفِتَنِ. وَأَكْثِرْ أَنْ تَنْظُرَ إِلَى مَنْ فُضِّلْتَ عَلَيْهِ، فإِنَّ ذلِكَ مِنْ أَبْوَابِ الشُّكْرِ. Do not undertake a journey on Friday until you have attended the prayers, except when you are going in the way of Allah, or in an excusable matter. Obey Allah in all your affairs because Allah\'s obedience has precedence over all other things. Deceive your heart into worshipping, persuade it and do not force it. Engage it (in worshipping) when it is free and merry, except as regards the obligations enjoined upon you, for they should not be neglected and must be performed at the five times. Be on guard lest death comes down upon you while you have fled away from your Lord in search of worldly pleasure. Avoid the company of the wicked because vice adjoins vice. Regard Allah as great, and love His lovers. Keep off anger because it is one large army from Satan\'s armies; and that is an end to the matter. وَلاَ تُسَافِرْ فِي يَوْمِ جُمُعَة حَتّى تَشْهَدَ الصَّلاَةَ إِلاَّ فَاصِلاً فِي سَبِيلِ اللهِ، أَوْ فِي أَمْر تُعْذَرُ بِهِ. وَأَطِعِ اللهَ فِي جُمَلِ أُمُورِكَ، فَإِنَّ طَاعَةَ اللهِ فَاضِلَةٌ عَلَى مَا سِوَاهَا. وَخَادِعْ نَفْسَكَ فِي الْعِبَادَةِ، وَارْفُقْ بِهَا وَلاَ تَقْهَرْهَا، وَخُذْ عَفْوَهَا وَنَشَاطَهَا، إِلاَّ مَا كَانَ مَكْتُوباً عَلَيْكَ مِنَ الْفَرِيضَةِ، فَإِنَّهُ لاَ بُدَّ مِنْ قَضَائِهَا وتَعَاهُدِهَا عِنْدَ مَحَلِّها. وَإِيَّاكَ أَنْ يَنْزِلَ بِكَ الْمَوْتُ وَأَنْتَ آبِقٌ(1) مِنْ رَبِّكَ فِي طَلَبِ الدُّنْيَا، وَإِيَّاكَ وَمُصَاحَبَةَ الْفُسَّاقِ، فَإِنَّ الشَّرَّ بِالشَّرِّ مُلْحَقٌ. وَوَقِّرِ اللهَ، وَأَحْبِبْ أَحِبَّاءَهُ، وَاحْذَرِ الْغَضَبَ، فَإِنَّهُ جُنْدٌ عَظِيمٌ مِنْ جُنُودِ إِبْلِيسَ، وَالسَّلاَمُ.

Complete Sermon of Prophet Muhammad SAWW at Ghadeer Khum by Agha Hassan Mujtaba Rizvi - English The Ghadir event and its significance Seventy days before his demise, when Prophet Muhammad (PBUH&HF) 1 was returning to Medina after his last pilgrimage to Mecca, he reached the pond of Khum (Ghadir Khum) near Juhfa. It was the 18th of the month of Dhul-Hijja of the year 10 AH (March 15, 632 AD). By this time, the Prophet (PBUH&HF) had conveyed all of the divine commandments to his nation except for the formal and explicit public announcement of his divinely appointed successors as the leaders, guardians, and guides for the believers for all days to come. By the order of Allah, the Prophet (PBUH&HF) stopped at the pond of Khum, gathered the crowd of pilgrims, and delivered his last universal speech. In this sermon, he presented his last religious instruction which finalized the last divine religion and made Islam the perfect religion in the sight of Allah. Imam Muhammad al-Baqir (PBUH), the fifth Imam and successor of the Prophet (PBUH&HF) said: “The last obligatory duty that Allah sent down was al-Walaya(adherence to the guardian assigned by Allah). Then, He sent down the verse: ‘Today, I completed your religion…’1 once the Messenger of Allah established it in Juhfa area.” This message was the most unique in the entire mission of the Prophet (PBUH&HF) due to the revelation of Verse 67, Chapter 5 of the Holy Quran before his speech. In this revelation, Allah warned His Messenger that failing to deliver this last message would nullify his entire mission. This unprecedented warning proves that this last message contained the most important religious commandment of Allah for the Muslim nation. Moreover, the contents of this last message were so crucial to the faith that the Prophet (PBUH&HF) emphatically required all those who directly or indirectly heard the sermon of Ghadir Khum to convey it to people who were not aware of its details, and parents to convey it to their children for all generations to come. Hence, this sermon addresses all Muslim generations of the world until the Day of Judgement. This emphasis naturally implies that the content of this message has a vital role in the future of the Muslims, their spiritual health, and their felicity in the Hereafter. The main issue that the Prophet (PBUH&HF) addressed in his speech in Ghadir Khum was that Allah appointed Ali Ibn Abi Talib (PBUH) as the guardian (Wali), the master (Mawla), the leader (Imam), and the commander (Amir) of all believing men and women, the deputy and the executor of his affairs (Wasi), and his successor (Khalifa). His sayings and commands should be preferred over the opinions of all others in every matter. Obeying him is obeying Allah, and disobeying him is disobeying Allah. Whoever follows him (and his sayings) is a believer under the guardianship of Allah, and whoever turns away from him (or his sayings) is a disbeliever under the guardianship of Satan. Guardianship (al-Walaya) expresses a bilateral relation between the guardian and the people. Observing al-Walaya by people means adhering to the guardian and acknowledging his authority by heart, tongue, and action. On the other hand, the action of al-Walaya by the guardian means offering protection from evil, spiritual assistance, care, support, and guidance for his adherents. A divinely appointed guardian guards his adherents from misguidance, spiritual destruction, wrongdoing, and sin as much as they adhere to him and his commands. Establishing al-Walaya has been the ultimate goal of religion and the fruit of the entire efforts of Prophet Muhammad (PBUH&HF) during his mission. One who submits to Allah’s representative and adheres to him has indeed acknowledged Allah’s authority and guardianship and is a true monotheist in obeying Allah. Acknowledging the guardianship of the leaders that Allah appointed and submitting to them is the greatest pillar of faith. It safeguards the followers from the wrath and punishment of Allah. Imam Muhammad al-Baqir (PBUH) said: “Islam is established by five things: prayer, charity, fasting, pilgrimage, and al-Walaya (adhering to the guardians authorized by Allah). None (among them) was called for as (emphatically as) al-Walaya was called for. However, people accepted the first four and abandoned al-Walaya. People who refused to submit to the leaders that Allah appointed resemble the Satan who refused to submit to the viceregent of Allah, Adam (PBUH), and consequently, became an outcast and went under the curse of Allah forever as mentioned in the Holy Quran.1 It is narrated that Imam al-Ridha (PBUH) said: “The similitude of the believers in accepting the guardianship of the Commander of the Believers (Ali) on the day of Ghadir Khum is that of the angels in prostrating before Adam (i.e., submitting to him), and the similitude of those who turned away from the guardianship of the Commander of the Believers on the day of Ghadir is that of the devil (Iblis). In one of his speeches on the anniversary of the day of Ghadir, Imam Ali (PBUH) said: “Allah does not accept the faith (of an individual) except after he acknowledges the guardianship of whom He required. He does not arrange the means of His obedience (for an individual) except after he adheres to His ropes and the ropes of His authorized people. Thus, Allah sent down to His Prophet (PBUH&HF) on the day of the large trees1 that which explained His will for His sincere and chosen servants. Allah commanded him to convey (the message) without being concerned about the hypocrites or the deviants, and guaranteed him protection against their evil... By that, Allah completed His religion, and delighted the eyes of His Prophet (PBUH&HF), and the believers. Some of you witnessed this event and some received its news. This (appointment) concluded the beautiful word of Allah for those who observe patience… ”

Allah the All-Wise said: \\\\\\\\\\\\\\\"Permission (to fight) is given to those upon whom war is made because they are oppressed and most surely Allah is well able to assist them. Those who have been expelled from their homes without a just cause only because they say our Lord is Allah. And had there not been Allah\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\'s repelling some people by others, certainly there would have been pulled down cloisters and churches and synagogues and mosques in which Allah\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\'s name is much remembered. And surely Allah will help him who helps His cause. Most surely Allah is Strong, Mighty.\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\" [The Holy Quran, Sura al-Hajj, Ayahs 39-40] I would like to welcome the all dear guests and the honorable audience. Among all the issues that deserve to be discussed by religious and political figures from across the world of Islam, the issue of Palestine enjoys special importance. Palestine is the primary issue among all common issues of Islamic countries. This issue has unique characteristics. The first characteristic is that a Muslim country has been taken away from its people and entrusted to foreigners who have come together from different countries and formed a fake and mosaic-like society. The second characteristic is that this historically unprecedented event has been accompanied by constant killings, crimes, oppression and humiliation. The third characteristic is that Muslims\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\' original qiblah and many respected religious centers which exist in that country have been threatened with destruction, sacrilege and decline. The fourth characteristic is that at the most sensitive spot of the world of Islam, this fake government and society has played the role of a military, security and political base for the arrogant governments since the beginning up until today. And the pivot of the colonialist west - which has been opposed to the unity, development and progress of Islamic countries for various reasons - has always used it like a dagger in the heart of the Islamic Ummah. The fifth characteristic is that Zionism - which is a great ethical, political and economic threat to the human community - has used this foothold as a tool and stepping stone to spread its influence and hegemony in the world. Other points that can be added include: heavy financial and human costs that Islamic countries have paid so far, preoccupation of Muslim governments and people, the sufferings of millions of displaced Palestinians many of whom still live in refugee camps after the passage of six decades and putting an end to the history of an important civilizational center in the world of Islam. Today another key point has been added to these causes and this key point is the wave of Islamic Awakening which has engulfed the entire region and has opened a new and determining chapter in the history of the Islamic Ummah. This massive movement - which can undoubtedly lead to a powerful, advanced and coherent Islamic alliance in this sensitive part of the world and can put an end to the era of backwardness, weakness and humiliation of Muslim nations relying on Allah\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\'s favor and the firm determination of the followers of this movement - has borrowed an important portion of its force and courage from the issue of Palestine. The Zionist regime\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\'s increasing oppression and bullying and the cooperation of certain autocratic, corrupt and mercenary rulers on the one hand and the spirited Palestinian and Lebanese resistance and the miraculous victories of faithful youth in the 33-day war on Lebanon and in the 22-day war on Gaza on the other hand - were among the important factors which made turbulent the seemingly calm ocean of the Egyptian, Tunisian and Libyan nations as well as other regional nations. It is a fact that the Zionist regime, which is armed to the teeth and claims to be invincible, suffered a decisive and humiliating defeat in Lebanon during an unequal war against the clenched fist of faithful and brave mujahids. Later on it re-tested its blunt sword against the innocent and determined resistance of Gaza and it failed. Serious attention should be paid to these points when analyzing current conditions of the region and the appropriateness of every decision should be evaluated against these points. Therefore, it is an accurate judgment to say that today the issue of Palestine has gained increased importance and urgency and the Palestinian nation has the right to expect more from Muslims countries in the current regional conditions. Let us take a look at the past and the present and prepare a road map for the future. I will discuss certain topics in this regard. More than six decades have passed since the tragic occupation of Palestine. All the main causes of this bloody tragedy have been identified and the colonialist English government is the most important cause. The policies, weapons and military, security, economic and cultural power of the English government and other arrogant western and eastern governments were put to the service of this great oppression. Under the ruthless clutches of the occupiers, the defenseless people of Palestine were massacred and forced out of their homes. Until today even one percent of the human and civil tragedy - which was carried out at that time by the claimants of civilization and ethics - has not been properly portrayed and this tragedy has not had its fair share in the media and visual arts. The owners of visual and cinematic arts and western movie mafias have not been willing to allow this to happen. An entire nation was massacred and displaced in silence. Certain instances of resistance emerged at the beginning, which were harshly and ruthlessly crushed. From outside Palestinian borders and mainly from Egypt, a number of men with Islamic motives made certain efforts which were not sufficiently supported and could not have an effect on the scene. Afterwards there were full-scale and classical wars between a few Arab countries and the Zionist army. Egypt, Syria and Jordan mobilized their military forces, but the unconditional, massive and increasing military and financial support of America, England and France for the Zionist regime overwhelmed Arab armies. Not only did they fail to help the Palestinian nation, but they also lost an important portion of their territories during these wars. After the weakness of Palestine\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\'s Arab neighbors was revealed, cells of organized resistance were gradually established in the form of armed Palestinian groups and after a while they came together to form the Palestinian Liberation Organization. This was a spark of hope which shone brightly, but it did not last long. This failure can be attributed to many factors, but the essential factor was their separation from the people and from their Islamic beliefs and faith. Leftist ideology or mere nationalistic sentiments were not what the complicated and difficult issue of Palestine required. Islam, jihad and martyrdom were the factors that could have encouraged an entire nation to step into the arena of resistance and turned it into an invincible force. They did not understand this properly. After the people have stepped into the arena and shouted slogans against the Zionist regime in a powerful way, on what logical basis do Muslim governments continue their relations with the usurping Zionist regime? The proof of Muslim governments\' honesty lies in their support for the Palestinian nation and in their decision to break off their overt and secret political and economic relations with the Zionist regime. The governments that host Zionist embassies or economic offices cannot claim to defend Palestine and no anti-Zionist slogan on their part will be considered serious and genuine. Today Islamic resistance organizations, which have been shouldering the heavy burden of jihad over the past years, are confronted with the same great responsibility. Their organized resistance is an active arm that can help the Palestinian nation move towards the ultimate goal. Brave resistance of the people whose homes and country have been occupied has been recognized in all international conventions and it has been praised. In the meantime, it is appropriate for western countries to evaluate the situation from a realistic perspective. Today the west is at a crossroads. It should either stop bullying and acknowledge the right of the Palestinian nation and refuse to follow the plan of the bullying and anti-human Zionists, or they should wait for stronger blows in the not so distant future. These crippling blows are not limited to the continual collapse of their puppet governments in the Islamic region. Rather the day when European and American peoples realize that the majority of their economic, social and ethical problems result from the octopus-like hegemony of international Zionism over their governments and that their statesmen give in to the bullying of parasitic Zionists who own companies in America and Europe for the sake of their personal and partisan interests, they will create a such hell for them in which no salvation will be imaginable. The US President says that Israel\'s security is his red line. What factor has determined this red line? Is it the interests of the American nation or Obama\'s personal need for the money and support of Zionist companies to ensure his second term as US President? How long do you think you will be able to deceive your own nation? O Allah! Send blessing on Muhammad and on the children of Muhammad. In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful. (All) praise is for Allah (only) who, through His omnipotence, strips the night of darkness, and, through His mercy, brings in the visible light of the day, wrapped me in its brightness, and filled me with its benefits. O my Allah, just as Thou kept me alive (till) this day, let me live through many such days; bless (Thy) Prophet, Muhammad and his children, and do not bring loss upon me in any part of its duration, and also in other nights and days, (by way of not preventing myself from) going in for anything unlawful, and making progress through wrongful means; give me its good, good that is there in it now, and good that it shall have, keep me aloof from its evil, evil that is there in it now, and evil that it shall have. O my Allah, I, totally committed to Islam, seek nearness to Thee; fully learning and grasping (the meanings of) the (Holy) Quran, resolve firmly to rely upon obedience unto Thee; and through the medium of Muhammad Al Mustafaa (the chosen), peace and blessings of Allah be on him and his children, I ask Thee for my rescue, therefore know well, acknowledge, and accept, O my Allah, the commitment and alliance on which I rely to receive satisfaction of my desires, O the Most Merciful. O my Allah, in the hours of this Thursday, fulfil my five desires, do not set in motion anything except Thy generous kindness, do not make possible and promote interest of any thing except Thy favour; (give me) sound health and wholesome security which I shall use to obey Thy commands, (confidence) to do good deeds which put me in a position to deserve more and more rewards from Thee, sufficient means of livelihood through fair and lawful employment, be my escort in the hour of fright to afford security, and in the hours of difficulties and sorrows keep me under Thy fortified stronghold; send blessings on Muhammad and on the children of Muhammad, and let my alliance with them be a means of recommendation on the Day of Judgement, because verily Thou art the the Most Merciful. O Allah! Send blessing on Muhammad and on the children of Muhammad.

In the Name of Allah, the All-beneficent, the All-merciful. الْحَمْدُ لِلَّهِ ٱلاوَّلِ قَبْلَ ٱلإِنْشَاءِ وَٱلإِحْيَاءِ al¦amdu lill¡hi al-awwali qabla al-insh¡\\\'i wal-i¦y¡\\\'i All praise be to Allah, the First before the bringing forth and the giving of life, وَٱلآخِرِ بَعْدَ فَنَاءِ ٱلاشْيَاءِ wal-¡khiri ba`da fan¡\\\'i al-ashy¡\\\'i and the Last after the annihilation of all things, ٱلْعَلِيمِ ٱلَّذِي لاَ يَنْسَىٰ مَنْ ذَكَرَهُ al`al¢mi alladh¢ l¡ yans¡ man dhakarah£ the All-knowing Who forgets not him who remembers Him, وَلاَ يَنْقُصُ مَنْ شَكَرَهُ wa l¡ yanqu¥u man shakarah£ decreases not him who thanks Him, وَلاَ يُخَيِّبُ مَنْ دَعَاهُ wa l¡ yukhayyibu man da`¡hu disappoints not him who supplicates Him, وَلاَ يَقْطَعُ رَجَاءَ مَنْ رَجَاهُ wa l¡ yaq§a`u raj¡\\\'a man raj¡hu and cuts not off the hope of him who hopes in Him! اَللَّهُمَّ إِنِّي اشْهِدُكَ all¡humma inn¢ ush-hiduka O Allah, I call You to witness وَكَفَىٰ بِكَ شَهيداً wa kaf¡ bika shah¢dan and You are sufficient Witness وَاشْهِدُ جَمِيعَ مَلائِكَتِكَ wa ush-hidu jam¢`a mal¡\\\'ikatika and I call to witness all Your angels, وَسُكَّانَ سَموَاتِكَ wa sukk¡na sam¡w¡tika the inhabitants of Your heavens, وَحَمَلَةَ عَرْشِكَ wa ¦amalata `arshika the bearers of Your Throne, وَمَنْ بَعَثْتَ مِنْ انْبيَائِكَ وَرُسُلِكَ wa man ba`athta min anbiy¡\\\'ika wa rusulika Your prophets and Your messengers whom You have sent out, وَ انْشَاْتَ مِنْ اصْنَافِ خَلْقِكَ wa ansha\\\'ta min a¥n¡fi khalqika and the various kinds of creatures You have brought forth, انِّي اشْهَدُ انَّكَ انْتَ ٱللَّهُ ann¢ ash-hadu annaka anta all¡hu that I bear witness that You are Allah; لاَ إِلٰهَ إِلاَّ انْتَ وَحْدَكَ l¡ il¡ha ill¡ anta wa¦daka there is no god but You, You alone, لاَ شَرِيكَ لَكَ وَلاَ عَدِيلَ l¡ shar¢ka laka wa l¡ `ad¢la Who have no associate nor any equal, وَلاَ خُلْفَ لِقَوْلِكَ وَلاَ تَبْدِيلَ wa l¡ khulfa liqawlika wa l¡ tabd¢la and Your word has no failing, nor any change; وَ انَّ مُحَمَّداً صَلَّىٰ ٱللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَآلِهِ عَبْدُكَ وَرَسُولُكَ wa anna mu¦ammadan ¥all¡ all¡hu `alayhi wa ¡lih¢ `abduka wa ras£luka and that Mu¦ammad, Allah bless him and his Household, is Your servant and Your messenger; ادَّىٰ مَا حَمَّلْتَهُ إِلَىٰ ٱلْعِبَادِ add¡ m¡ ¦ammaltah£ il¡ al`ib¡di he delivered to the servants that with which You charged him, وَجَاهَدَ فِي ٱللَّهِ عَزَّ وَجَلَّ حَقَّ ٱلْجِهَادِ wa j¡hada f¢ all¡hi `azza wa jalla ¦aqqa aljih¡di struggled for Allah as is His due, وَ انَّهُ بَشَّرَ بِما هُوَ حَقُّ مِنَ ٱلثَّوابِ wa annah£ bashshara bim¡ huwa ¦aqqun min alththaw¡bi gave the good news of the truth of reward, وَ انْذَرَ بِما هُوَ صِدْقٌ مِنَ ٱلعِقَابِ wa andhara bim¡ huwa ¥idqun min al`iq¡bi and warned of the veracity of punishment. اَللَّهُمَّ ثَبِّتْنِي عَلَىٰ دِينِكَ مَا احْيَيْتَنِي all¡humma thabbitn¢ `al¡ d¢nika m¡ a¦yaytan¢ O Allah, make me firm in Your religion as long as You keep me alive, وَلاَ تُزِغْ قَلْبِي بَعْدَ إِذْ هَدَيْتَنِي wa l¡ tuzigh qalb¢ ba`da idh hadaytan¢ make not my heart swerve after You have guided me, وَهَبْ لِي مِنْ لَدُنْكَ رَحْمَةً wa hab l¢ min ladunka ra¦matan and give me mercy from You, إِنَّكَ انْتَ ٱلْوَهَّابُ innaka anta alwahh¡bu surely, You are the All-bestower. صَلِّ عَلَىٰ مُحَمَّدٍ وآلِ مُحَمَّدٍ ¥alli `al¡ mu¦ammadin wa ¡li mu¦ammadin Bless Mu¦ammad and the Household of Mu¦ammad, وَٱجْعَلْنِي مِنْ اتْبَاعِهِ وَشِيعَتِهِ waj`aln¢ min atb¡`ih¢ wa sh¢`atih¢ make me one of his followers and his partisans, وَٱحْشُرْنِي فِي زُمْرَتِهِ wa¦shurn¢ f¢ zumratih¢ muster me in his band, وَوَفِّقْنِي لادَاءِ فَرْضِ ٱلْجُمُعَاتِ wa waffiqn¢ li-ad¡\\\'i far¤i aljumu`¡ti and give me the success of accomplishing the obligatory observance of Fridays, وَمَا اوْجَبْتَ عَلَيَّ فِيهَا مِنَ ٱلطَّاعَاتِ wa m¡ awjabta `alayya f¢h¡ min a§§¡`¡ti performing the acts of obedience which You have made incumbent upon me within it, وَقَسَمْتَ لاهْلِهَا مِنَ ٱلعَطَاءِ wa qasamta li-ahlih¡ min al`a§¡\\\'i and receiving the bestowal which You have apportioned for its people فِي يَوْمِ ٱلْجزَاءِ f¢ yawmi aljaz¡\\\'i on the Day of Recompense! إِنَّكَ انْتَ ٱلْعَزِيزُ ٱلْحَكِيمُ innaka anta al`az¢zu al¦ak¢mu Surely, You are the Almighty, the All-wise!
