The Iraqi army has launched a major offensive against the Islamic State of Iraq and the Levant militants in the western province of Anbar. The military says its troops-- backed by helicopters, began the operation in Ramadi, banning all movement within the city. A police source says policemen and tribal fighters took part in the operation. In recent weeks, Ramadi has witnessed fierce clashes between the Iraqi government troops and the I-S-I-L militants. The Islamic State in Iraq and the Levant is an al-Qaeda-affiliated terrorist group active in both Iraq and Syria.

Al Qaeda linked group the Islamic State of Iraq and the Levant is making serious gains in Anbar province in Iraq. The same terrorist group has been involved in barbaric attacks on Iraqi civilians, as well as unknown savagery in Syria and other places. Who is the ISIL really, as they allegedly say their goals is to establish a pure Islamic state, however in the process they kill and torture Muslims and others and totally act against Islam\'s holy book the Holy Quran. The al-Qaeda-affiliated Islamic State of Iraq and the Levant is said to have taken the northern Syrian city of Raqqah following deadly clashes with rival insurgent groups. The extremists have been executing people, preventing the delivery of humanitarian aid and enforcing a strictly fundamental form of what they call Sharia law on areas they\'ve occupied. So how has all this affected the war against President Bashar al Assad and the international support it\'s been getting? Can the upcoming peace conference help resolve the crisis?

/Members of the al-Qaeda-linked group, the Islamic State of Iraq and the Levant have confessed to having direct links with Saudi Arabia. An Iraqi channel has aired confessions of members of the militant group, admitting to have relations with Riyadh. In the Afaq TV broadcast, ISIL insurgents also confess to Saudi Arabia\'s role in terrorist attacks in a number of Iraqi provinces. One of the members says a Saudi military official ordered him to carry out several attacks. Iraq has arrested a large number of insurgents during several operations recently. This comes as the Iraqi army and Sunni tribesmen continue their fight against ISIL militants. Iraq is experiencing its worst cycle of violence since 2008, with al-Qaeda-linked militants flexing their muscles on Baghdad\'s doorstep.

Iraqi officials say the al-Qaeda-linked group, the Islamic State of Iraq and the Levant, is trying to create a country comprising of Syrian and Iraqi territories. They say it is expected to be in Iraq\'s Anbar province, where the army and the militants have been fighting for over a month now. Press TV\'s Serena Shim has sent us this report from Baghdad.

The militant group known as the Islamic State of Iraq and the Levant continue targeting Iraqi security forces across the country. They attack army compounds, police stations and checkpoints, killing security officers. Some victims were even decapitated. Analysts say this is a new tactic by Al-Qaeda and its affiliates to undermine security in Iraq. In the most recent attack a policeman was killed in the city of Mosul, where identified gunmen opened fire on a police checkpoint belonging to the Seventh Emergency Police Regiment in Khaisrij area.

In Syria, insurgent groups continue to fight one another. A group calling itself the Islamic Front has killed and captured a number of the Islamic State of Iraq and the Levant insurgents in the town of Al-Nairab. The Islamic Front, which is the biggest insurgent alliance, had earlier announced that it would fight against the group. Earlier in the day, Al-Qaeda-linked militants killed at least 50 rival insurgents. The insurgents were killed in attacks, car bombings, and summary executions by militants loyal to the Islamic State of Iraq and the Levant, also known as the ISIL. It was the third day of infighting, which began when militants of the so-called Free Syrian Army attacked checkpoints and bases manned by the ISIL. Previously, the clashes were mostly in the northern provinces of Aleppo and Idlib, but opposition sources say the fighting has now spread to the east.

The Syrian army steps up its attacks against foreign-backed insurgents and their strongholds across the country. Army units ambushed militants of the Liwa\'a al-Islam, a brigade of the al-Qaeda-linked Nusra Front in Eastern Goutah, near the capital Damascus, killing scores of them. Syrian sources say many of the dead were foreign nationals. A large cache of weaponry including anti-tank missiles were also seized. Several militants of anther al-Qaeda-affiliated group known as Islamic State of Iraq and the Levant were also killed in clashes with Syrian forces near Aleppo. Meanwhile, people in several towns across the Aleppo Province demonstrated against armed groups, demanding their pullout from civilian areas. Elsewhere, Kurdish fighters engaged in battles with insurgents in a town near Iraqi border.

A Salafist movement confirms that at least 77 Jordanian nationals have been killed in Syria since the beginning of the unrest in the Arab country. The Jordanian Salafist Movement has said the slain militants were fighting under the banner of the al-Nusra Front. It added that there are at least 15-hundred Jordanian nationals fighting in Syria, most of them members of the al-Nusra Front and the Islamic State of Iraq and the Levant. A very large number of the militants fighting against the Syrian government are reportedly foreign nationals. Latest reports also suggest that more than 210 extremists have traveled from Germany to Syria since the conflict started about three years ago. The Syrian government says the West and its regional allies, including Qatar, Saudi Arabia, and Turkey, are supporting the militants.

Locals say they\'ve seen some people vomiting after the shelling-- in what could be a sign of a chemical attack.

Foreign-backed insurgents in Syria are increasingly using kidnapping as a means to fund their activities in the northern city of Aleppo. Militants from the Islamic State of Iraq and the Levant have been named as the main culprits in insurgent-controlled areas. A London-based opposition group says that 80-percent of kidnappings target activists and journalists. Only this week, two Swedish journalists were abducted by insurgents. The missing are a combination of foreign and Syrian journalists. 30 journalists are currently being held and 52 have been killed in the country since early 2011.

The head of the so-called Free Syrian Army says his forces are ready to join the Syrian army and drive out al-Qaeda-linked terrorists who have taken over militant-held areas. General Salim Idris has described as very dangerous the militant group calling itself as the Islamic State of Iraq and the Levant, or the I-S-I-S. Thousands of foreign militants have in recent months joined its ranks. General Idris also claimed that besides fighting with Syrian forces, the F-S-A forces have fought another war with al-Qaeda at dozens of different locations over the past six months. The so-called Free Syrian Army also says that it has dropped the precondition for President Bashar al-Assad to leave power before the upcoming Geneva peace conference.

Another act of atrocity at the hands of foreign-backed insurgents in Syria. Militants execute an Iraqi cameraman in Syria\'s northeast. Reports say Yasser Faysal al-Joumaili was killed in Idlib province after insurgents stopped him at a checkpoint and shot him without asking any questions. The militants are said to be members of the notorious al-Qaeda-linked group, the Islamic State of Iraq and the Levant. The slain reporter of Al-Jazeera International and Reuters was on an assignment for a Spanish media outlet. Many journalists have lost their lives in the Syrian conflict which began in 20-11.

Reports coming out of Syria say al-Qaeda-linked militants have kidnapped about 120 Kurdish civilians from a village in the northern province of Aleppo, near the border with Turkey. The Syrian Observatory for Human Rights says Takfiri militants from a group called the Islamic State of Iraq and the Levant entered the village of Ihras, seized the people, and then took the hostages to an unknown location. Sources in Syria say several of the hostages are women. Over the past few months, there have been a number of armed clashes between al-Qaeda insurgents and Kurdish fighters in northern Syria.

At least 62 al-Qaeda-linked militants have been killed in clashes with Iraqi security forces backed by local tribesmen in the western province of Anbar. A tribal leader says the militants from the Islamic State of Iraq and the Levant were killed in Ramadi and a district east of the city. Earlier reports said the security forces were in control of most of the areas in Ramadi. They also managed to gain control of some more areas in the nearby city of Fallujah. The two cities in Anbar province have witnessed clashes between security forces and al-Qaeda-affiliated militants over the past several days. The violence broke out after the army removed an anti-government protest camp in Ramadi on Monday. Authorities said the camp was used by al-Qaeda-linked militants.

Iraqi security forces backed by local tribesmen have killed at least 71 al-Qaeda-linked militants in the western province of Anbar. A tribal leader says the militants from the Islamic State of Iraq and the Levant were killed during clashes in and near Ramadi. Clashes also took place in the nearby city of Fallujah. Officials say 32 civilians also died during battles in both cities in Anbar province. The security forces have managed to take control of more areas which had earlier fallen into the hands of militants. The unrest came after the removal of an anti-government protest camp in Ramadi on Monday. Authorities said the camp had been used by al-Qaeda-affiliated militants.

Rival insurgent groups continue to fight each other in syria. In the latest development, the so-called Free syrian Army has seized a compound held by al-Qaeda-linked militants in syria\'s northwest. Opposition sources say the F-S-A insurgents seized the compound after chasing fighters loyal to the Islamic State of Iraq and the Levant in Aleppo\'s Manjib town. The I-S-I-S militants reportedly used car bombs for the first time to defend the compound. The foreign-backed battle against the syrian government has turned into full-scale infighting in recent days. The al-Qaeda-linked group has suffered huge losses in two days of fighting against an alliance of militant groups in Aleppo and Idlib provinces. Dozens from both sides have been killed in clashes since Friday.

Opposition sources say the insurgents were killed in attacks, car bombings and summary executions by militants loyal to the Islamic State of Iraq and the Levant or I-S-I-L. Sunday\'s deaths came on the third day of infighting that began when militants of the so-called Free Syrian Army attacked checkpoints and bases manned by the I-S-I-L. The clashes have mostly centered in the northern provinces of Aleppo and Idlib. Opposition sources say the I-S-I-L militants summarily executed thirty of their civilian and non-civilian hostages after their base was surrounded by rival insurgents in the Harem district of Idlib province. Meanwhile, a group calling itself the Islamic Front, which is the biggest insurgent alliance in Syria, issued a strong warning to the ISIL militants, vowing to fight against the group.

The group has pledged not to cave in under attacks similar to last week\\\'s car bombing in Beirut\\\'s southern suburbs. The comments came after the al-Qaeda-linked Islamic State of Iraq and the Levant-- ISIL, claimed responsibility for that attack. Infighting between rival insurgent groups is raging on in Syria. Opposition sources say that foreign-backed militants have seized the headquarters of al-Qaeda-linked insurgents in the northern city of Aleppo. The sources added that members from several insurgent groups have taken control of a children\'s hospital in Qadi Askar district that is the headquarters of the Islamic State of Iraq and the Levant in Aleppo. Meanwhile, other reports from Syria say at least 20 militants have been killed in a car bomb near the northern city of Dakoush. The attack was reportedly carried out by militants from the I-S-I-L. The recent tension among militant groups fighting the Syrian government has been the deadliest since the conflict began in the war-torn country back in March 20-11.

Syrian opposition sources say that hardly any insurgents from the al-Qaeda-affiliated group, the Islamic State of Iraq and the Levant are left in the northern city of Aleppo. The UK based Observatory for Human Rights says ISIL militants withdrew from the Inzarat neighborhood of Aleppo after clashes with militants from the so-called Free Syrian Army and other insurgent groups. The Observatory says the foreign-backed F-S-A had earlier overrun the I-S-I-L\'s headquarters in the city. The bodies of at least 42 people executed by I-S-I-L were reportedly found at the base. Meanwhile, some reports suggest that the ISIL has taken the upper hand against the FSA in the city of Raqqah. The al-Qaeda-linked group is said to be in control of several key positions in the city. A large number of people, including civilians, have been killed during the infighting.

Zarif made the remarks in a joint press conference with his Iraqi counterpart Hoshyar Zebari in Baghdad. Hundreds of Syrian refugees, fleeing insurgent infighting, have entered the Turkish border town of Akcakale. The residents of the Syrian border town of Tel Abyad in the northeastern province of Raqqah fled their homes after fierce infighting between al-Qaeda-linked militant groups. Turkish authorities closed the border crossing in Tel Abyad after the Islamic State of Iraq and the Levant captured the town earlier this week. Up to 100 insurgents from another al-Qaeda-linked group, the Nusra Front, have been captured and shot dead by ISIL militants in the town. The rise of infighting between rival militant groups in Syria comes in the run-up to an international peace conference on Syria, known as Geneva two.

Iraqi prime minister, Nuri al-Maliki has blamed QUOTE \"diabolical and treacherous\" Arab states for the recent surge of violence in Iraq. Maliki says Iraq is a target for certain countries that support evil and terrorism. He warned that violence has started to expand and will ultimately reach the countries which are backing it. Maliki did not specify which countries support violence in Iraq. In the past, Iraqi authorities blamed Saudi Arabia and Qatar for fueling unrest in their country. Iraq has seen a surge in terrorist attacks over the past year.
