In its fresh round of investigations the association of parents of disappeared persons, an independent rights group, has come up with shocking numbers of presence of mass graves in 5 districts out of the total 22 districts in Jammu and Kashmir. The research investigation has documented the existence of 7000 unmarked mass graves and they expect it to go as high as 10000 mark.

Anger is brewing up in Indian-controlled Kashmir following the killing of seven people by Indian forces in Ramban district on Jammu-Srinagar highway, about 150 kms away from capital Srinagar. Massive protests broke out at Dadam village in district Ramban early Thursday after Border Security Force (BSF) personnel allegedly roughed up a local religious figure and desecrated Quran, the holy book of Muslims.

India is expanding its fighting capability against China. 50,000 additional troops will be deployed on the Chinese border. They will be specially trained and equipped for mountain warfare. All of the Indo-China border falls in the high Himalayas. The two countries have a longstanding border dispute. It led to a bloody battle between them in 1962. India accuses China of occupying 38,000 square kilometers of its territory in the disputed region of Jammu and Kashmir, while the government in Beijing lays claim to 90,000 square kilometers of land in the state of Arunachal Pradesh in northeast India.

Following the recent killing of four unarmed civilians by Indian security forces in the Rambhan district of Jammu and Kashmir, the disturbed Himalayan region has witnessed a fresh spate of violence. The killings have drawn outrage from rights groups. Amnesty International has urged India to avoid excessive use of force against the civilians while policing demonstrations. It is also calling for an immediate and thorough investigation into the killings in the region.

In August 1979, the late founder of the Islamic Republic of Iran Grand Ayatollah Ruhollah Khomeini r.a declared the last Friday of the Muslim holy month of Ramadan as Quds Day, calling on Muslims to mark the annual occasion by holding street rallies under the banner of imam e Jumma the Leader of the Friday Prayer. In Kargil The Procession of Quds day was taken out after the friday prayer from Houza Elimiya Madrasa Asna Asharia Kargil under the banner of imam e Jumma wal jama\'t the Leader of the Friday Prayer Hojjatul Islam walmuslimeen aqa Sheikh Hussain Moqaddas organised by Youth Wing I.S.K under the supervsion of Anjuman Jamiatul Ulama Asna Asharia Kargil in which thousands of people around Kargil take to the streets on this day in a show of support for the people of Palestine, and to call for an end to Israeli occupation of Palestinian lands .

These are the rare scenes-Pakistani and Indian military officials smiling and shaking hands with each other.The director general military operations from the two neighbors held talks at the Wagha crossing point in Pakistan to discuss the recent hostilities in the disputed region of Jammu and Kashmir. This is for the first time in 14 years that senior military officials from Pakistan and India held face-to-face talks. Their discussion is part of efforts on both sides to restore ceasefire along the Line of Control, a temporary border that divides Kashmir.
