In the US, the House Armed Services Committee has approved an additional funding in military aid to Israel. The committee has approved that nearly half a billion dollars be given to Israel this year. The approval has not yet been finalized but, it\'s expected to get the final okay by the House Appropriations Committee and Senate. The money is in addition to over three billion dollars in military aid that Washington is already planning to send to Tel Aviv in the coming fiscal year. This comes as the US government has made cuts in food assistance program. The cuts have forced nearly forty-eight million Americans to see their food stamps slashed.

Israel\\\'s espionage activities have increasingly become a concern for Lebanon. Beirut is now calling for equipment to block Tel Aviv\\\'s intelligence gatherings.
Reports say Lebanese lawmakers as well as foreign, defense and communication ministers will meet with ambassadors of five permanent members of the UN Security Council next week. The European Union\\\'s high representative in Lebanon will also attend the meeting. Lebanese officials are expected ask European countries to sell Beirut anti-spying equipment that it needs to counter Israel\\\'s intelligence activities. Tel Aviv has increased its espionage by installing eaves-dropping stations across Lebanon\\\'s southern border. Beirut says Tel Aviv\\\'s spying activities have negatively affected not only Lebanon but also UN peace-keeping forces.

UN officials are calling on Israel to end the blockade of the Gaza Strip. They\'re warning that the situation in the Palestinian territory may get even worse.
The head of the UN agency for Palestinian refugees says the Israeli blockade has paralyzed Gaza\'s construction industry. Robert Turner also said that the demolition of tunnels used by Gazans to transfer goods and construction materials to the enclave has put U-N projects on hold. This, after Egyptian authorities also stepped up the destruction of the tunnels in recent months. Meanwhile, another U-N official, James Rawley has also waned about the humanitarian situation in the Palestinian territory over a lack of fuel there. Gaza\'s fuel crisis has led to the closure of its main power plant in recent months. Israel imposed its all-out land, aerial, and naval blockade on Gaza in June 2007 after the victory of Hamas in elections there.

Iran\'s president says the problems in the Middle East have doubled since the creation of israel.
Hassan Rouhani says over the past 65 years, the trace of Zionists has been seen in every single problem in the region. Rouhani says unity among the regional states is the only way to help rescue the Middle East. The president made the comments in a meeting with visiting Lebanese parliament speaker Nabih Berri. The Lebanese official also held a separate meeting with Iran\'s foreign minister, Mohammad Javad Zarif. Zarif says Israel\'s pressure to derail the recent deal on Iran\'s nuclear deal is in fact aimed at diverting attention from its aggression against Palestinians.

The former head of the Bank of Israel is about to become the Vice-Chairman of America\'s Federal Reserve. Stanley Fischer, who led the Bank of Israel for eight years, has been asked to take over Janet Yellen\'s position at the US Fed. Yellen is set to take the top job from current boss Ben Bernanke whose term ends in January. Fischer, who was born in Zambia, holds both Israeli and American citizenships. Palestinians insist that they will not accept a security plan proposed by the US, regarding their conflict with Israelis.A member from the Fatah Party of acting Palestinian chief Mahmud Abbas has told Press TV that anything detracting the sovereignty of a Palestinian state is rejected.
The plan was proposed by US secretary of state, John Kerry during his latest trip to occupied territories on Thursday and Friday ---- the second such visit in less than a week. Under the proposed plan, Israel will keep military presence in a future Palestinian state along its strategic border with Jordan. Acting Palestinian chief, Mahmud Abbas has rejected the US-proposed plan. Sources say he\\\'s also presented Kerry a letter laying down what Palestinians have called red lines. Yet, Abbas is facing growing criticism over the continuation of talks with Israelis. Critics say the talks must be halted, as long as Israel pushes ahead with its settlement projects on occupied Palestinian lands and continues aggressions against Palestinians. Although Abbas has rejected the security proposals outlined by the US, political factions are calling on him to end the negotiations and take other methods against the occupation, as they see the US taking Israel\\\'s side.

The Israeli interior minister says a settlement in the strategic Jordan Valley must not be given to Palestinians.
Gideon Saar said the settlement along the Jordanian border must belong to Israel forever. The area is a main focus of a new round of talks between the Palestinian Authority and Israel. This, as US Secretary of State John Kerry has arrived in Israel to mediate the so-called peace negotiations. The top US diplomat had given both sides a nine-month deadline to reach a deal, but they\'re now four months into the deadline, with little progress. Meanwhile, people of the Gaza city have held a rally against the resumption of the direct talks. The Palestinians have slammed Tel Aviv\'s settlement constructions as one of the main obstacles to peace.

The United Nations has censured Israel for demolishing more Palestinian homes.
The UN humanitarian coordinator for the Palestinian territories criticized Israel\'s demolition of three dozen homes in the occupied Jordan Valley. James Rawley urged Tel Aviv to halt its violations of international law in the occupied West Bank. The demolitions in the community of Ain el-Helwe on Thursday displaced over sixty people, including 36 children. The UN humanitarian coordinator\'s office said that Israeli demolitions in the occupied West Bank and east Jerusalem al-Quds displaced 1,000 Palestinians in 2013 alone.

Israel refuses to allow many Palestinian patients from Gaza to seek medical treatment in the occupied territories.
According to Palestinian sources, sick people whose transfer documents are marked \"State of Palestine\" are barred from entering Israel. The logo was added to medical transfer documents by Palestinian officials in December. This came after the Palestinian Authority won recognition as a UN observer state despite U-S and Israeli opposition. 70 Palestinian patients who need to go to Israeli hospitals have already been denied entry. Israeli officials are yet to comment on the issue.

A newly-released poll shows many people in Arab states view Israel and the U-S as the greatest threats to their countries.
According to the survey by the French polling institute, Socio-vision, about forty percent of people in the Arab world view Israel as the most vicious threat against them. 15 percent of those polled said the US posed the greatest threat. This comes despite Washington and Tel Aviv\'s attempts to portray a negative image of Iran in the eyes of regional Arab nations. The poll was conducted in 12 Arab states in January.
