Is the commemoration of Imam Husayn (A) limited to just the first ten days of Muharram? And has the commemoration of Imam Husayn (A) merely become a habit or ritual for some people? What happens if we merely stick to the rituals of the commemoration of Imam Husayn (A)? What must every single Shia remind themselves of as they commemorate the martyrdom of Imam Husayn (A)? Why, at times, are we not able to make fundamental changes in ourselves or our societies despite attending countless mourning gatherings for Imam Husayn (A)? What are the signs of being a companion of the Messenger of Allah (S) as stated by the holy Quran? Can you be a superficially religious person, but still be in the camp of Yazid? This Du`a is taught by the Imam Sajjad (a) and is a clear indication of the loftiness of moral virtues expected of a believer. Islam believes in the elevation of the human beings, that a human is a great and dignified creation, far above the animal world. One of the signs of this dignity is the possession of noble and magnanimous qualities. In order to achieve this behavioral excellence, man needs to overcome his base and selfish attributes, and cultivate noble qualities. In this Du`a the Imam (a) specifies these qualities and shows how we can try to inculcate them in ourselves. Taken as a lesson is Akhlaq, the Du`a is a wonderful program for those who wish to excel in good akhlaq. The most complete in faith among the believers is he who has best manners Holy Prophet (s) Habituate yourself to magnanimity and choose for yourself the most excellent of all etiquettes, for virtuous behavior is a habit.
