France has warned that the Central African Republic is on the verge of genocide. This comes as the U-N is considering sending African and French forces to intervene in the strife-torn country. French Foreign Minister Laurent Fabius has described the situation in France\'s former colony as total disorder. The Central Africa Republic has faced growing chaos since a coalition of rebels staged a coup in March, forcing president Francois Bozize to flee. Last year, France invaded Mali under the pretext of stopping what it called al-Qaeda-linked militants in the country. The invasion has caused a serious humanitarian crisis in the country, displacing thousands of people.

France says the European Union would likely lift some sanctions on Iran in December as part of a nuclear deal between Tehran and the five permanent members of the UN Security Council plus Germany. Foreign Minister Laurent Fabuius has said that in a few weeks time, the EU foreign ministers would sit down for talks over the partial removal of sanctions on Iran. He noted that the lifting of sanctions would be limited, targeted and reversible. France\'s top diplomat also described as unlikely any strike on Iran by Israel, saying no one would understand such an attack at this stage. On Sunday, Iran signed an agreement with the United States, Russia, China, Britain, France and Germany over its nuclear program in Geneva. Under the deal-- the first of its kind in a decade, Iran will limit its nuclear program in return for the loosening of sanctions.

French lawmakers approve burqa ban French lawmakers have ratified a legislation to prohibit women from wearing face-covering veils despite right activist saying such a law violates personal and religious freedoms. The Senate voted 246 to 1 in favor of the bill, which has already cleared the lower chamber, the National Assembly, reported AFP. The law will come into effect if the Constitutional Council does not question its legality. Muslims argue that the legislation is going to discriminates against France's Muslim population, which is already facing rising level of Islamophobia. Once in place, the law will allow authorities to arrest and fine those women who defy the ban. A woman who continues wearing veils will receive a fine of EUR 150 (USD 195) or a course of citizenship lessons. A man who forces a woman to go veiled will be fined EUR 30,000 and imprisonment. France is home to the largest Muslim population among the 27 European Union member states. Nearly 10 percent of the 62 million people living in French is Muslim. In June, members of the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe (PACE) unanimously voted against any general ban against burqa or niqab in Europe, saying Muslim women should be free to choose their clothing. When France surprisingly went to war in Mali last January they repeatedly promised their offensive was only temporary. But, in a declaration that\'s caused little surprise internationally, the French Defense Minister said France will keep around a thousand troops in Mali indefinitely, and that the force could \"intervene in neighboring countries...to intervene in any terrorist activity.\"

According to the International Labour Organisation, western countries like France are focusing too much on austerity and too little on creating jobs. The worst affected are those who have been out of the job market for more than six months. At state run job centers, the wait for jobs offers is getting longer. But a study shows, the centers are unable to handle fresh waves of job seekers. The study shows employment offices like the one right behind me are have such complicated administrations that they will need over three dozen reforms in order to serve the French and help them find jobs that are badly needed.
