This is the story of Ahl e Kufa. This is the story of Shabath, who wrote a letter to Imam Husayn inviting him to Kufah, and then later became one of the commanders of Umar ibn Saad\'s army in Karbala. Shabath is an example of those people whose hypocrisy and disloyalty resulted, time and again, in the killing of the Ahl al-Bayt. Shabath is one of the reasons Imam Mahdi is in Occultation.

Does the leader of the Muslims always have to be a Ma’sum [infallible]? Ultimately, yes! How can one strive for perfection if ones’ ultimate leader is not a perfect servant of Allah? But how about in the time when the infallible Imam is in occultation? Shaykh Usama brilliantly presents the example of the Tawwabin- they ought to have followed Muslim Ibn Aqeel - a non-Ma’sum leader - but their failure to do so lead to the martyrdom of Imam Husayn [A]. The question for you now is: who is the Muslim Ibn Aqeel of today?

over a 1,000 people came together in front of the US Consulate Toronto, Canada to stand for international law, and against a Israeli-only Jerusalem. People from all walks of life, Jews, Christians, Muslims and other faiths, joined together to send the message “Hands Off Al Quds/Jerusalem.” Their message is that USA decision to name Jerusalem as the capital of Israel and to relocate the US embassy has innumerable serious consequences.
This emergency rally was one among a number happening across Canada including in Montreal, Ottawa, London, Calgary, Edmonton and Vancouver. All around the world, citizens are coming together in front of US diplomatic office to speak out against Trump\'s unilateral and illegal recognition of Jerusalem.
Trump administration’s plans run counter to longstanding international consensus. It is a major violation of many United Nations Security Council resolutions) and the principles of international law, which consider all Israeli actions and laws aimed at changing the legal and historical status of East Jerusalem null and void. These resolutions ban the establishment of diplomatic missions, the transfer of embassies or the recognition of Jerusalem as the capital of Israel.
These resolutions consider East Jerusalem as an integral part of the Palestinian territory occupied in 1967. Any recognition of the city of Jerusalem as the capital of the occupying power, the establishment of any diplomatic mission in Jerusalem or its transfer to the city is a violation of International law and the Fourth Geneva Convention
On November 30, 2017, the UN General Assembly last week voted overwhelmingly that “any actions taken by Israel, the occupying Power, to impose its laws, jurisdiction and administration on the Holy City of Jerusalem are illegal and therefore null and void and have no validity whatsoever.” The rally is important said organizers not only because of the Trump Administration decision, but because, Canada was one of just six countries that voted against this resolution on Jerusalem.
Canadians have clearly spoken that the Canadian government is out of line with public opinion when it comes to Palestine. In a March 2017 EKOS poll, Canadians indicated they believe overwhelmingly that sanctions are a reasonable way for Canada to censure countries violating international law and human rights, and a strong majority of Canadians believe that government sanctions on Israel would be reasonable.
The message is that the Canadian government’s decision not to follow the US example is not enough. Canada has an obligation to condemn the actions of the US government based on Article 1 of the Geneva Convention which requires that Canada \"ensure compliance\" with the Geneva Convention by other High Contracting Parties.\" This makes it essential that the Canadian government issue a clear statement condemning the action of the US government, and to publicly and diplomatically oppose all foreign embassies in Jerusalem.
Speakers were from the Palestinian and Arab communities, the United Church of Canada, the Muslim community, the Jewish community, labour, the Canadian Federation of Students (Ontario), the Christian Peacemaker Teams, Solidarity Against Fascism Everywhere, Canadian Peace Congress, and others who stand for justice and international law. Over 40 groups endorsed today’s emergency action to speak against the move for a Israeli exclusive Jerusalem, and for a universal city where all are welcome.

What\'s so different about the Basij Force of the Islamic Republic of Iran? Do we not have similar forces in other countries? Such popular resistance groups existed in the history of various struggles; take for example, France. What\'s so unique and special about the Basij force in Iran? Why is this an unprecedented phenomenon? The Leader explains.

Disturbing LGBT messages in Children\\\'s Books | The Makinations 1
Introducing the disturbing new series from Islamic Pulse, presenters Brother Muzaffer Abbas Hyder and Sister Zaynab Thani show some examples of the kind of children’s books which are actively and openly promoting LGBT themes. This series is based on the research of Dr. Kate Godfrey-Faussett, who has bravely taken up the task of exposing the agenda of the mainstream education system, which has crept into the schools across the world promoting its sexuality agenda.

The Western Liberal Democracy | Sayyid Hashim al-Haidari
Which democracy do you claim to have?! What is the reality of this democracy?! It is nothing but a false perception, hoax and fluff created by the so-called superpowers. Unfortunately, today, many who don\\\'t even know how to spell democracy are beating drums of establishing democracy around the globe!
Sayyid Hashim boldly quotes Fukuyama, uses United States of America as a prime example, and dismantles this false perception of western liberal democracy.

Many – if not most – human beings go through life without ever truly undergoing the necessary transformation into the best that we can be. We come to this world as caterpillars, and it is our aim to develop into butterflies. But we often remain as crawling creatures of this lowly dimension, devouring our way through the dunya (worldly life), blind, deaf and dumb. When do we truly contemplate and make the conscious decision to be better? Brother Khalil Jafar beautifully sets forth an example of our existence in this world as something essentially alien. Do we really belong here? Is there a precedence within the Holy Quran which indicates that we were sent down from a higher realm of existence? What now is our aim in regards to life, the universe and everything?

A must watch clip. What is that core principle that becomes the foundation of divine assistance? Quran talks about Prophet Musa (A) and gave us his example. Today, we see the practical manifestation of that when we look at Imam Khomeini, Imam Khamanei, and the likes of Shaheed Soleimani and Shaheed Hojaji.

We think we are alive. Is that right? Have we looked at the teachings of Quran and Ahlulbayt (A). Do we match up with the traits of the living ones they highlight?
Agha Panahian explains this using the example of Martyr Qasem Soleimani. Imam Sayyid Ali Khamenei raises a few fundamental questions after quoting an amazing statement of Martyr Baqeri. And our beloved Martyr General Qasem Soleimani informs us of some realities.

- Discussing France, who has the largest Muslim population in the Western world, 8.8% of the national population
- Recent events in France and the reaction of President Macron are a matter of concern for Muslims, especially since whatever happens in France, has ripple effects in Canada\'s province of Quebec
- Anti-Muslim sentiments lead to the control and curbing of the freedom of thought of Muslims, exploiting the beheading incident related to the cartoons of the Prophet
- Islam isn\'t against freedom of expression, however there are limitations and responsibilities
- Violent reactions to cartoons are not acceptable, however the same values that allow the cartoon, also allow Muslims the right to express objection to the cartoons
- Publishing them and then using them in a middle school setting as an example of freedom of expression was an unwise decision because it adds to xenophobia and Islamophobia.
- On the pretext of fighting extremism, President Marcon has asked Muslim leaders to accept a “charter of republican values”. He has given the French Council of the Muslim Faith, a 15-day ultimatum to accept the charter.
- For the Muslims who become over-emotional in these matters and do things that harm the overall image of Islam, I ask them to remember Surah al-Hijr, verse 95

- With the surging second wave of the COVID-9 pandemic, the reality of death is a clear and present reality in front of us
- What can we do to remember family and friends who have passed away?
- In Islamic literature, there is a concept of \'isale sawab\' - sending gifts to those who have passed
- Covering the 3 forms of gifts: praying for forgiveness, reciting the Qur\'an, and charity
- The two forms of charity, singular and perpetual
- The need to innovate on charitable actions for the deceased, especially looking at the aspect of constant reprinting of Qur\'ans
- The importance of visiting graves
- Narrating a story told by the Prophet regarding charity
\"When someone passes, the family prints Sura Yasin booklets for distribution hoping it\'s recited, & the thawab will go to the deceased. Tell me which Muslim household doesn\'t already have a Qur\'an? Which Qur\'an doesn\'t already have Sura Yasin? Be creative with your charity, look for something that will both help your community & generate thawab for the deceased, such as children\'s education for example. If you really want to print something, then select a dua from Sahifa Sajjadiyyah, or a sermon from Nahjul Balagha so more people may benefit.\"

- Humans are complex creatures, both physically and psychologically
- God mentions knowledge as the second most precious blessing, however he also emphasizes our rebellious nature in Sura 96
- Our challenge is to control and channel that rebellious nature
- Looking at the example of the drama that unfolded at Capitol Hill in Washington DC, following the incitement from US President Donald Trump
- Ignorance or poverty were not the causes for this destruction and disturbance of the final verification of the presidential election which found Biden as the winner
- Rather it was ego, and greed for power which pushed the President to urge his followers to riot
- The way this rebellious crowd was able to gain access to the Capitol without much resistance shows the double standard when you compare with the firm attitude of the police against rallies for black lives matters.
- In the Muslim world, we see some religious leaders who exploit the sentiments of their followers and create a hype against Shi‘a minorities in Pakistan in the name of honouring the ṣaḥābah
- In Baluchistan province, 11 Shi‘a coal miners from the Hazara tribe were kidnapped from their campsite, taken to the mountains with their hands tied at their backs and then brutally killed
- The inaction by the authorities is a deafening statement
- Shi‘as have challenged the Salafi extremists to come and talk about the differences by using books and not bullets

- Importance of pondering over why Allah(s.w.t) wants us to go all the way to Makkah for hajj.
- Explanation of Aayat 97 of Surah Aale Imran where Allah(s.w.t) mentions how it is a duty for a Muslim to go for hajj if he has the ability to do so.
- Once the Kaaba’s walls were erected, Allah(s.w.t) asked Prophet Ibrahim to call people for hajj so that they could witness the benefits for themselves.
- There are many benefits when we go for Hajj.
- Getting to network and meet other business traders from around the world.
- The most important benefits are the spiritual and social dimensions of Hajj.
- Hajj is a powerful way of recognizing who we are.
- We shed away all the artificial identities that we have whether it applies to our clothing or political and economic status.
- Everyone is dressed in 2 pieces of Ehram (white cloth) which is a dress that does not belong to any other nation.
- Realizing that no matter what race, colour, ethnicity background or status in society we come from, we are all just servants of Allah(s.w.t) and nothing else.
- Islam does not say that you should not love people of your own tribe, culture or language. Infact, that is part of our innate nature.
- Islam is against discrimination and prejudice amongst the believers on the basis of race, colour, culture or language.
- According to the 4th Imam we will be accountable in the eyes of Allah (s.w.t) when we start preferring our own kind even if they are evil over the righteous ones from another tribe.
- “Asabiya” (discrimanation/bias) is when you support your own people even if they are unjust and wrong.
- Mention of the words of Malcom X, on the impact that hajj had on him from a letter that he wrote to his wife.
- Islam is a religion that is colour-blind and is our identity as part of a global Ummah (nation).
- Inspite of millions of Muslims going for hajj, we don’t see any changes when it comes to unity and equality amongst believers.
- Example of the way the rich gulf state treats Muslims from other nations.
- This attitude still present amongst those known as the custodians of the “haramayn”.
- “Mawali” is the plural of the word “mawla” which means slave or client.
- In the pre Islamic era, a foreigner would not have security for himself, his life and his property unless he would be affiliated with a local tribe. He would be a “mawla” of the tribe.
- Islam abolished this but it was later revived again. Only the school of the Ahlulbayt opposed this concept.
- The “mawalis” were attracted to the Ahlulbayt because they did not differentiate between Arab or non Arab, master or slave and rich or poor.
- Narration of a story from the life of Imam Ali Raza (a.s) of when he asked all the workers and slaves to join him and eat dinner together.
- Mention of all the Imams whose mothers were from different parts of the world. 4 of them being from the African continent.
- Molana Sayyid Saeed Akhtar Rizvi was the pioneer in tabligh among the African people.
- Today Bilal Muslim mission is the pride of the community while it was not the case in the early days.

Dua Abu Hamza Thumali - Arabic with English subtitles

Abū Ḥamza al-Thumali was a prominent student of of Imam Ali Zainul Abidīn (as) , as well as a companion of Imam Jafar as Sadiq (as) . Al-Thumālī narrated this supplication from Imam Sajjad (as), and is cited by various scholars, such as Shaykh Tusi in Misbah al-Mutahajjid, Sayyid ibn Tawus in Iqbal al-A’mal, Ibrahim ibn Ali al-Kaf’ami in Al-Balad al-Amin, and Allama Majlisi in Bihar Al-Anwar. It is known to be one of the longest Dua’s and is meant to be read in the Month of Ramadan before sunrise.
This supplication is beautiful in its eloquence as it holds many spiritual teachings, such as finding the balance between hope and fear, death, and gratitude. For example, we know that as humans we are greatly flawed and bound to sin, in which we may fear that we are not worthy of mercy and forgiveness of Allah swt. This path towards wrongdoings can lead one to hopelessness, however, the Dua teaches us that we must
remember Allah swt is All Forgiving and All Merciful, and by these virtues of Allah swt that we should remain hopeful, and to not be fearful of Allah swt, but rather to be cautious and scared of our own actions.
The Dua of Abu Hamza also contains supplications for our needs and wants for this world, as well as the hereafter. It is said that if the whole of this supplication is read then the
supplications of our needs have been sufficiently covered, as this Dua mentions a variety of wishes that one may ask for. This
includes the wellbeing of our families, the whole of society, and ourselves. As this Dua is mainly recited in the month of
Ramadan, there is also the request to be amongst those who
receive the chance to perform Hajj, as it is narrated that on
Laylatul Qadr, the names of those who will be given such a chance are written. With the many needs that this Dua
addresses, Imam Sajjad (as) has also included in it the
bounties of Allah, so that we may practice gratitude and be grateful for that which Allah has blessed us with. Lastly as all of us must face death at one point or another, in this supplication, the Imam (as) prepares us for what will come after death, and reminds us to strive for the Hereafter.

Talking Properly: Politeness or Honesty?
“Pious people have superior virtues. Their words are proper.” [Imam Ali (as), The Muttaqin Sermon] At the top of the list of moral virtues, which Imam Ali (as) lists for pious people, are controlling one’s tongue and speaking correctly.
“Pious people have superior virtues. Their words are proper.” “Their words are proper” tells us a few things. Being proper does not mean being honest. You can talk honestly and ruin a nation. You can talk honestly and ruin a person. Backbiting is saying something that is true. [One says,] “I’m saying the truth [about him].” You are wrong to say this truth! You shouldn’t say all true things. You shouldn’t talk about a person’s fault when he is absent. Don’t say that. It is even said that when a person backbites you should defend the one who is absent. You shouldn’t say all truths. Proper doesn’t mean honesty. Talking properly is different from talking honestly.
Sometimes people talk honestly in order to relieve themselves, but they shouldn’t. They tell others about their sufferings, but they shouldn’t. People sometimes talk honestly and tell others about the good deeds they have done, and that is hypocrisy. People sometimes talk honestly and show their hatred toward others. I can tell you numerous examples of honest words that are not “proper.”
But I have to tell you one thing. Speaking the truth, in any area, reduces a person’s mental pressures. When you tell other people’s secrets, you release yourself. When you talk about your own pains, you release yourself. When you talk about your hatred, you release yourself.
It’s interesting that some people say any truth and say, “My conscience is at ease this way.” That is not their conscious. They have relieved themselves in a way that God didn’t want. Releasing yourself like this ruins you and makes you cheap. Not all ways of finding ease are good. In the past, some psychologists used to say that if a person’s father has passed away and he has inherited money, since an obstacle has been removed from his life, why should he act like he is upset? He can easily go, have fun and say that he’s happy.
Such a society will gradually lose its modesty. Do you know what happens when there is no modesty? When there is no modesty and people relieve themselves by talking honestly, they become weak. When you control your honesty due to your modesty and other boundaries, you will feel a pressure. This pressure makes a person grow and strengthens him. For example, when one gets angry, he shouldn’t curse. This brings a pressure. [One says,] “I honestly ask God to make you wretched! I wish you didn’t exist on this earth!” You should have controlled this! The result of some kinds of honesty is weakness. This pressure makes a person grow. It strengthens him.
Should we push children to be honest or polite? Politeness. What is politeness? It’s basically modesty. Politeness tells a person what he shouldn’t say. Is politeness more valuable or honesty? If you don’t attack me, I’ll say politeness. A child likes to say many things honestly. But you should tell him, “You should observe these rules when you talk. This is politeness.”
“Pious people have superior virtues. Their words are proper.”
