Indian troops kill dozens in Kashmir At least 18 people have been killed and over 100 injured in Indian-controlled Kashmir as soldiers open fire on pro-independence rallies in disputed Himalayan region. Security forces opened fire on tens of thousands of protesters in the Budgam and Tangmarg areas. An Indian soldier was also killed in the violence. The protests were particularly intense following the news of the desecration of the Quran in the US. On Sunday, India imposed a curfew in many areas of Kashmir. However, people have been pouring out to the streets across Kashmir to protest against Indian rule despite the curfews. However, reports say more and more people in Kashmir continue to get their news from Press TV via internet services or direct broadcast satellites. Massive anti-US rallies held in Pakistan Thousands of people have held anti-US demonstrations across Pakistan to protest an American court's verdict against a female Pakistani scientist. The protests on Friday come after a New York court sentenced 38-year-old Aafia Siddiqui to 86 years in prison. Hundreds of police officers were deployed across the capital Islamabad to stop angry protesters from marching into the US Embassy. In Siddiqui's hometown of Karachi, police fired tear gas to prevent protesters from moving towards the US consulate. In Multan, scores of activists including lawyers blocked traffic. Siddiqui has been found guilty of allegedly trying to kill FBI agents and US military service members in Afghanistan. Human rights groups argue that she was kidnapped and held in secret US prisons abroad. Political activists and Siddiqui's relatives have strongly criticized the US justice system for its handling of the case. Press TV has conducted an interview with Intifad Qanbar, political analyst from Beirut about the issue of the desecration of Islamic shrines in Syria by foreign-backed extremist groups.

The militants have reportedly attacked the mausoleum and exhumed the grave of Hujr ibn Adi in the Damascus suburb of Adra, and took his remains to an unknown location. Press TV has conducted an interview with Intifad Qanbar, political analyst from Beirut about the issue of the desecration of Islamic shrines in Syria by foreign-backed extremist groups.

Kashmir, an area caught in between India and Pakistan, is claimed by both countries. It has once again witnessed violence as protesters were demonstrating against what they say was a desecration of the Holy Quran by Indian troops.

State organizations in Saudi Arabia have desecrated the Holy Qur\'an by discarding over fifty copies in Taif city\'s street sewerage canals. According to a Saudi official in the Commission for the Promotion of Virtue and Prevention of Vice, the incident was reported by a local student, who saw the holy books on his way home in Al-Salama district of Taif. The service company that specializes in opening drainage inlets was then called, and dozens of copies of the Quran were retrieved. A photo that shows desecrated books has now gone viral on the internet and social media websites. This is not the first time the Holy Quran has been desecrated in Saudi Arabia. Earlier this year, the move by prison officials in Al-Haer province to insult the Holy Book led to protests in different parts of the Kingdom. The desecration of the holy Quran in a country, which is the birthplace of Islam, has raised eyebrows in the Muslim world. Jannat al-Baqi is the oldest and the first Islamic cemetery located in the city of Medina. It is the resting place of many companions, friends, and relatives of the holy Prophet Muhammad (S), including his grandchildren and great children, namely Imam Hasan ibn Ali al-Mujtaba (A), Imam Ali ibn Husayn al-Sajjad (A), Imam Muhammad ibn Ali al-Baqir (A), and Imam Ja\'far ibn Muhammad al-Sadiq (A). According to some traditions, it is also said to contain the grave of the holy Prophet\'s daughter, lady Fatima Zahra (A). Other traditions say that lady Fatime Zahra (A)\'s grave is in the vicinity of Al-Baqi cemetery - unidentified. The iconic and revered cemetery was demolished by the Saudi-Wahhabi coalition once in 1806 and a second time in 1925. Both Sunnis and Shias have protested against the demolition and desecration of this holy heritage site. This latmiyya by Haj Mahmoud Karimi describes the land of sand, full of grief and sorrow, next to the green dome of the holy Prophet Muhammad (S). But worry not, for soon will come a voice that will announce the rising of the son of Fatima (A) and he will rebuild the shrines and mausoleums of Jannat al-Baqi.
