A great interview with Israeli academic IIan Pappe on the situation of Israeli denial, and propaganda about the Palestinian situation. He puts it into perspective from the eye's of an Israeli academic just how much the Israeli people don't see about this situation, and just how hard it is for an academic in Israel to put out the truth. More brave Israeli's like himself need to to start standing up for the situation, and showing the true face of Judaism that is peaceful, and loving of other humans. Not the Zionist face of hate.

Laila El-Haddad is a talented blogger, journalist, social media activist, and parent-of-two from Gaza. She is author of the recently published book Gaza Mom: Palestine Politics, Parenting, and Everything in Between, based on the award-winning blog she has written since 2004, and contributing author to The Goldstone Report: The landmark Investigation of the Gaza Conflict.
She received her B.A. from Duke University and her MPP from Harvard's Kennedy School of Government.
From 2003-2006, El-Haddad was the Gaza stringer for the Al-Jazeera English website and contributed regularly to the BBC and the Guardian. She has also been published in the Washington Post, the Baltimore Sun, the International Herald Tribune, and The New Statesman, among others, and has appeared on CNN and NPR. In 2007, she co-directed the award-winning Gaza-based documentary Tunnel Trade.
A running theme in El-Haddad's writing is the personalization of the situation of Gazans and Palestinians, a topic to which she brings her characteristic wry humor and introspective humanity about her daily life and those of other Gazans.

Gunfire broke out on as Palestinians marched to mark the 63rd anniversary of "Nakba Day" or the day of catastrophe.
Marching towards the Erez crossing, over 1000 Palestinians faced Israeli soldiers opening fire on them. Dozens of marchers were injured including a journalist who is in critical condition as they tried to return to their original homes in historical Palestine. In a prayer sermon, Hamas Prime Minister Ismail Haniyah continued to stress the importance of resistance against the Zionist regime.
Meanwhile, thousands of Palestinians held a big rally in northern Gaza to protest the events in 1948 when their ancestors were pushed into exile and driven out of their towns and villages by Israel. These annual marches serve to remind and unite Palestinians as they struggle to cope with six decades of suffering.
Israel has prevented the return of Palestinian refugees, who were either displaced or dispossessed in 1948. After 63 years of displacement, Palestinians say they want the world to know that they will never give up the right of return to their homeland.

Ever since the war on Gaza in late 2008, Turks have openly sided with Palestinians and have been extremely critical of Israeli military operations and it's blockade on Gaza.
Turkish protesters marched to the Israeli consulate in Istanbul to mark "Nakba Day", the annual commemoration of the displacement of Palestinian people after Israel evicted them from their territories and homes in 1948.
In that year, an estimated 700,000 Palestinians were displaced as hundreds of villages were destroyed, something these protesters say can not be ignored.

Miko Peled is a peace activist who dares to say in public what others still choose to deny. Born in Jerusalem in 1961 into a well known Zionist family, his grandfather, Dr. Avraham Katsnelson was a Zionist leader and signer of the Israeli Declaration of Independence. His Father, Matti Peled, was a young officer in the war of 1948 and a general in the war of 1967 when Israel conquered the West Bank, Gaza, Golan Heights and Sinai.
Miko's unlikely opinions reflect his father's legacy. General Peled was a war hero turned peacemaker.
Miko grew up in Jerusalem, a multi-ethnic city, but had to leave Israel before he made his first Palestinian friend, the result of his participation in a dialogue group in California. He was 39.
On September 4, 1997 the beloved Smadar, 13, the daughter of Miko's sister Nurit and her husband Rami Elhanan was killed in a suicide attack.
Peled insists that Israel/Palestine is one state—the separation wall notwithstanding, massive investment in infrastructure, towns and highways that bisect and connect settlements on the West Bank, have destroyed the possibility for a viable Palestinian state. The result, Peled says is that Israelis and Palestinians are governed by the same government but live under different sets of laws.
At the heart of Peled's conclusion lies the realization that Israelis and Palestinians can live in peace as equals in their shared homeland.

The United Nations is warning of a looming catastrophe in Somalia, where every third child is suffering from acute malnutrition because of drought and hunger.
The countryside is barren, and thousands of nomads are crossing the country on foot to get aid in Mogadishu, the capital, as the Horn of Africa region faces its worst drought in six decades.
Al Jazeera's Mohammed Adow reports from Mogadishu as part of Al Jazeera's State of Somalia series.
