President Hassan Rouhani says Iran is determined to continue uranium enrichment for civilian purposes.
Rouhani gave assurances however that nuclear weapons have NO place in Iran\'s defense doctrine. He made the comments in an interview with the British daily The Financial Times. Rouhani also ruled out the possibility of dismantling Iran\'s nuclear installations. The president said the size of Iran\'s uranium enrichment will be determined by Iran\'s domestic needs for nuclear power.

More violence in Afghanistan. A roadside bomb blast has claimed the lives of several people in Afghanistan\'s western province of Farah. Also on Monday, nearly two dozen civilians including women and children died in separate explosions in eastern provinces of Laghman and Paktia.
The afghan president Hamid Karzai has strongly condemned the incidents. In a statement Karzai said such attacks were carried out by Quote \"the enemies of the people of Afghanistan\".
Taliban militants usually take the blame for the attacks in the war-torn country. Also foreign troops as well as their military operations and airstrikes are held responsible for the rising civilian casualties in the country.
According to a UN report released in February, more than 2,750 people were killed and over 4,800 injured in conflict-related violence in Afghanistan in 2012 alone.

[29 April 2012] US Drone War - News Analysis - Presstv - English
Some of the mainstream media in the US are reporting it as "US relaxes drone rules in Yemen." In reality, the US has approved a new authority that allows US assassination drones to fire on targets in Yemen even when their identities aren't known: it's called signature airstrikes. How could these drones, which have been described as targeted killings, not that they have hit their targets all the time, to have resulted in many civilian deaths, now fire at targets whose identities are not known? In this news analysis, we will ask our guests whether this is another way for the US to okay civilian deaths as collateral damage, and whether it is a sign to spread this to other countries in order to keep America in a perpetual state of war.

[21 June 2012] Should world be worried about emerging total war ideology" against Islam - Islam And Life - English
It is revealed by American magazine Wired in May 2012, that the American Army teaches its officers to "Use 'Hiroshima' tactics for a 'total war' on Islam". The course teaches officers there is no such thing as moderate Islam and that they should consider Islam their enemy. It advocated taking war to civilian populations using similar tactics as used in Dresden, Tokyo, Hiroshima and Nagasaki, as well possible nuclear attacks on the holy cities of Mecca and Medina and the wiping out civilian populations. The teaching material also suggests that there is no such thing as the moderate Islam and concludes "It is therefore time for the United States to make our true intentions clear. This barbaric ideology will no longer be tolerated. Islam must change or we will facilitate its self-destruction."
The Pentagon has confirmed the course material obtained by the magazine is authentic. The report says the officer who delivered the lectures, still maintains his position at the Norfolk, Virginia College, pending an investigation. It is not clear that how much of the similar material has been taught in the US Army. What is alarming according to BBC is that all those commanders, captains and colonels must have sat through the course and not felt anything unusual. It brings into question the validity of claims that killing at least 16 Afghan civilians by a US soldier was an isolated incident. This week's Islam and Life asks: Should the world be worried about the emerging "total war ideology" against Islam
