In this edition of the show George talks about the unrest which rocked Britain in a scale unprecedented in 30 years following the police's killing of black male Mark Duggan in a shooting spree in the London suburb of Tottenham last Thursday. The security forces fatally shot the 26-year-old after stopping his minicab to make an arrest as part of a preplanned operation. Tension erupted on Saturday, when a few hundred people gathered outside a police station in Tottenham to protest the killing. The protests have spread to major cities like Birmingham, Liverpool, and Bristol.

Sister Salma Yaqoob is the vice-chair of Respect - the Unity Coalition - and a Birmingham City Councillor. She also is the head of the Birmingham Stop the War Coalition and a spokesperson for Birmingham Central Mosque.

The unrest that swept England's streets over the last 10 days or so has stilled at least for the moment. But the reverberations of that unrest are threatening the very fabric of Britain as a civilized country. Courts in England are meeting through the night. Condign punishment of a kind touching on the absurd is being handed out. In this edition of the show George talks about the aftermath of Britain unrest.

Part two of show looked at the case of Sheikh Raed Salah, leader of the Northern branch of the Islamic Movement in Israel, has been in Britain, either in prison or on bail since his arrest 3 months ago. UK authorities have sought to deport him but Salah has challenged both his arrest and pending deportation. He's currently appealing his deportation before an immigration and asylum tribunal in Birmingham. Separately, the High Court in London ruled last week that part of Salah's dention in June was unlawful. Salah is accused of anti Semitism and Home Secretary Theresa May has sought to exclude him from the UK on the grounds that his presence in the UK isn't conducive to the public good. To discuss the case was Shamiul Joarder of Friends of al Aqsa, Sarah Colborne, who's Director of The Palestine Solidarity Campaign and on the phone Dr Hanan Chehata of the Middle East Monitor

During times of deep trial, despair, and sadness, Muslims must seek comfort and guidance in the words of god in the Qur'an. God reminds Muslims that all people will be tried and tested in life, and calls upon Muslims to bear these trials with patient perseverance and prayer. But believers are called to put their trust in their Lord, and not to fall into despair or hopelessness. In the Qur'an, God has described Himself as: "The one who created death and life to test you as to which of you is best in deed." The Holy Qur'an, (67:2) There are many versus that guide Muslims on how to respond to difficult situations when their faith and their belief are tested such as: Seek Allah's help with patient perseverance and prayer. It is indeed hard except for those who are humble." (2:45) 'To Allah we belong, and to Him is our return.' They are those on whom descend blessings from their Lord, and mercy. They are the ones who receive guidance." (2:155-157) "Be patient, for your patience is with the help of Allah." (16:127) The killing of three Muslim men in Britain's recent unrest, revealed how a Muslim family uses these Islamic principles to overcome such a tragedy. Looking at Britain's unrest, and the Birmingham tragedy in this edition of the show we ask the following question: How can Muslims remain calm, forgiving, but determined to defend unjustified attacks?

[2] Plight of Rohingya Muslims in Myanmar with George Galloway - 27 july 2012 - English The government of Myanmar refuses to recognize Rohingyas, who it claims are not natives and classifies them as illegal migrants, although they have lived in the country for generations. Myanmar's President Thein Sein said on July 19 that the "only solution" to the plight of Rohingya Muslims is to send the country's nearly one million Muslims -- which the UN says is one of the world's most persecuted minorities -- to refugee camps run by United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR). However, the UN refugee agency has snubbed the idea of setting up refugee camps to accommodate the Rohingyas. "We will send them away if any third country would accept them," Sein added. "This is what we are thinking is the solution to the issue." The UN says decades of discrimination have left the Rohingyas stateless, with Myanmar implementing restrictions on their movement and withholding land rights, education and public services.
