The United Nations and Arab League special envoy to Syria say the Syrian crisis has become extremely dangerous for the the region and beyond. Addressing a news conference in Iraq, Brahimi said there\'s a new attempt to solve the Syrian crisis in the Geneva 2 peace conference. His comments come as the United States and Russia, who support opposing sides in the conflict, have been trying for months to bring the Damascus government and the divided opposition to the table for a peace conference. But with the war deadlocked, the opposition has shown no interest in compromise, forcing the meeting to be repeatedly postponed.

Lebanon\'s foreign minister says the Arab League made a big mistake by expelling Syria from the bloc. Adnan Mansour has told Press TV that the regional body can not deal with armed groups. In the exclusive interview, Mansour expressed hope that the Geneva Two Conference slated for November 23 and 24 could lead to a political solution to end the violence in Syria.

The UN-Arab League Special Envoy for Syria has arrived in Damascus as part of a tour aimed at garnering support for proposed peace talks. Lakhdar Brahimi was welcomed by Syrian deputy foreign minister Faisal Moqdad upon his arrival. Brahimi traveled to several countries in the Middle and Near East including Iran to prepare the grounds for the Geneva Two conference. The talks are aimed at ending Syria\'s two-and-a-half-year unrest. This is Brahimi\'s first visit to Syria since December.

Lebanon is said to have paid the heaviest price so far as a result of the war in neighboring Syria and is now hoping that the Geneva 2 Conference will be held soon to pave the way for a political solution to the crisis.

Iraqi prime minister, Nuri al-Maliki has blamed QUOTE \"diabolical and treacherous\" Arab states for the recent surge of violence in Iraq. Maliki says Iraq is a target for certain countries that support evil and terrorism. He warned that violence has started to expand and will ultimately reach the countries which are backing it. Maliki did not specify which countries support violence in Iraq. In the past, Iraqi authorities blamed Saudi Arabia and Qatar for fueling unrest in their country. Iraq has seen a surge in terrorist attacks over the past year. The army, in recent weeks, has been fighting militants from al-Qaeda-affiliated Islamic State of Iraq and the Levant in the western province of Anbar. On Sunday, it launched a major offensive against the militants in the provincial capital, Ramadi.
