The U-S spying scandal continues to cause outrage among Washington\'s allies. Now, Madrid has opened a preliminary inquiry into allegations the U-S spied on Spanish citizens.
The prosecutor\'s office will investigate whether a crime was committed and if Spain should consider opening a formal investigation. The announcement comes a day after Spanish media published documents revealing that the U-S National Security Agency monitored over 60 million phone calls in the country within one month. Spain has warned that mutual trust between Madrid and Washington could be damaged if the allegations prove to be true. Spain is among several other countries who\'ve summoned U-S ambassadors to demand an explanation. European countries have also announced they will send a nine-member delegation to Washington to seek answers regarding the N-S-A\'s spying activities against European citizens and officials.

The death toll among foreign soldiers in Afghanistan is rising. According to the latest count of US war dead in Afghanistan, Soldier deaths now is above 2120
At least 52 of them were killed this year in \"insider attacks\" by Afghan government forces or Taliban forces.
The southern provinces of Kandahar and Helmand have proven to be the most deadly areas for US troops. About half of US soldiers have died in those regions. Experts say even strategic areas such as key highways in the region are still not secure.
It\'s very clear that they can\'t hold on to that highway and prevent Taliban from planting IEDs and prevent severe consequences for US troops.
Although it is Afghan civilians who are the number one victims of the US so-called war on terror, US troop casualties are persistent. This is despite the 33,000 additional U.S. troops that withdrew from Afghanistan after troop size was increased after the surge.
The rising casualty rate has not been lost on the American public. The call for troops to come home grows louder from Congress to the internet.
This letter urging for the immediate withdrawal of US troops was posted over the weekend saying:
During his monthly press conference in Brussels, NATO Secretary General Anders Fogh Rasmussen commented on recent \"insider attacks\" in Afghanistan.
Rasmussen says that insider attacks are forcing US-led troops to rethink their system of training Afghans-- as the Taliban have adapted their strategy to weaken western forces.
Military officials say they have made broad improvements in fighting the Taliban. However, the rising death toll of US troops and the increase of insider attacks has many left thinking that the time for US troops complete withdrawal is well overdue.

A woman was among the dead in the attacks in Nuristan province. Two other civilians including a child were also injured. Officials say the victims had no links to militants. Earlier in the day, a U-S drone strike killed two people in eastern Kunar province. Police say those killed were Taliban members. However in many other similar cases, civilians were found to be the main victims. Civilian killings at the hands of foreign forces have been a source of friction between Kabul and Washington since the US-led invasion of Afghanistan.

Some say it\'s an important milestone pushing Egypt towards a new political era but others, notably among them the Muslim Brotherhood say the new draft constitution to be put to a referendum within months, is a step backwards especially since the new draft is seen as giving sweeping powers to the military and banning political parties based on religions. Is Egypt headed to a new era of democracy or further rallies and violent crackdowns?

Takfiri groups fighting the Syrian government forces have abducted more than 50 Kurds, among them children in the past three days.
The kidnapping took place in the towns of Minbej and Jarablus in the northern province of Aleppo. This comes weeks after Kurdish fighters pushed out the Takfiri groups from the region. There has been a fierce battle between the two sides over the control of the region in the past three months. In July, the militants kidnapped some 200 Kurdish civilians in the town of Tal Aran and Tal Hassel in Aleppo. Only a few of the hostages have been released since then.

In December 1961, South Africa\'s anti-Apartheid movement entered a new-phase of resistance; it took up arms... Among the key minds behind this militant response was Nelson Mandela.
Advil November was a personal body guard of Mandela after his release and is a former member of the ANC\'s Military wing Umkhonto we Sizwe or Spear of the Nation... MK targets included petrol stations, railway lines and in one of its most successful attacks a power substation. Now MK had also planned an attack on one of the main fuel refineries here in Cape Town. And the hope was that had that attack been successful, it would not only have brought the SA economy to a standstill, but it would also have allowed prisoners on Robben Island about 7 km offshore an opportunity to see the attack as the refinery went up in flames.November remembers Mandela as a particularly revolutionary figure. When South Africa became a democracy in 1994, most MK soldiers were incorporated into the army. November argues that suggestions that SA will descend into anarchy now that Mandela has died is a construct of the imperialists, saying that those who fought for their freedom understand peace best.

Al-Qaeda-linked militants in Syria have killed at least 50 rival insurgents amid continued infighting among militant groups.
Opposition sources say the insurgents were killed in attacks, car bombings and summary executions by militants loyal to the Islamic State of Iraq and the Levant or I-S-I-L. Sunday\'s deaths came on the third day of infighting that began when militants of the so-called Free Syrian Army attacked checkpoints and bases manned by the I-S-I-L. The clashes have mostly centered in the northern provinces of Aleppo and Idlib. Opposition sources say the I-S-I-L militants summarily executed thirty of their civilian and non-civilian hostages after their base was surrounded by rival insurgents in the Harem district of Idlib province. Meanwhile, a group calling itself the Islamic Front, which is the biggest insurgent alliance in Syria, issued a strong warning to the ISIL militants, vowing to fight against the group.
