Afghans have a date now for their next Presidential election. It is April 5th of 2014. And voter registration for it has already started. It is moving very smoothly so far. This comes as insecurity still remains a big challenge for the electoral people here but not for the political figures. It is much more the interference of the US that has made them worried. Belqis Roshan is one of them. She is a member of parliament here. But the US has a bigger plan in mind. President Karzai has told this to these tribal elders in his place. He said the Americans opened a political office for the Taliban in Qatar to create ethnic tensions and disintegrate Afghanistan.

Israel has approved 69 new settlements in East Jerusalem al Quds. The new plan seeks to expand the Har Homar Israeli settlement. However, Palestinian activist Daoud Hamoude says the move is part of a bigger plan to annex all settlements from the North of the West Bank to the E1 area in Bethlehem, ultimately turning the West Bank into a string of Palestinian ghettos. Jamal Jumaa of the Stop the Wall also told Press TV that Tel Aviv has no interest in peace talks and will not cease settlement activities under any conditions. The Palestinian activist also says he has serious doubts about the future of talks between the Palestinian Authority and Tel Aviv.

Communication satellite provider Intelsat has announced the suspension of its services to the channels launched from Iran. And based on a letter, they did ask for an extension from the US government to keep broadcasting Iranian channels, but were refused.
Why is the US government against this basic right as outlined in their own constitution, namely, freedom of speech?
Furthermore, why have European satellite providers cut the transmission of Iranian channels, while the EU has stated the media are not part of the US-led sanctions against Iran?

The town of Tafas links the eastern and western parts of Daraa along the Jordanian border. In another battlefield in the central province of Homs, insurgents and government troops are fighting for control of a highly-strategic arsenal in Mahin. Iranian President Hassan Rouhani says political solution is the only way to put an end to violence in Syria.
Rouhani also said the international community has reached the conclusion that military intervention is not a solution to the Syrian crisis, and THAT is a good sign. He made the remarks during a meeting with the visiting UN-Arab League Special Envoy for Syria. Lakhdar Brahimi for his part said that he always defends Iran\'s participation in the Geneva 2 talks. The UN-Arab League Special Envoy for Syria said yesterday that Iran\'s participation in the Geneva talks is QUOTE natural, necessary, and fruitful. Brahimi\'s visit to Tehran is part of his Middle East tour to lobby support for the meeting. The Geneva talks has been slated for November 23rd and 24th, to find a political solution to the Syrian conflict.

Israel approves the release of 26 Palestinian prisoners under the terms of the renewed so-called peace talks with the Palestinian Authority. The released inmates are considered the second group of prisoners discharged since August. Israeli prison authorities say the inmates will be released at least 48 hours after their names are published. Tel Aviv had said 104 Palestinians would be freed in stages following the start of negotiations on July 30. An Israeli official claimed last week that the move was linked to a deal with the Palestinian Authority in exchange for continued settlement construction in the occupied territories. But the PA has vehemently denied the allegation, saying the construction activities seriously threaten the so-called peace talks, that resumed in July after a three-year halt.

In Bangladesh, clashes between police and protesters during a nationwide strike have led to the death of at least five people. Police say they opened fire on opposition supporters in the western town of Nagarkanda after they attacked police forces with bricks. The opposition has launched a three-day strike, asking the government to step down before the upcoming general elections. The Bangladesh Nationalist Party-- B-N-P, led by Khaleda Zia says the ruling party should step aside ahead of the January polls. The opposition wants the elections to be held under a neutral caretaker government, to prevent vote rigging. Earlier attempts to cancel the strike failed. On Friday, clashes broke out between supporters of the opposition and the ruling party across the country, leaving several people dead and hundreds injured.

The Organization for the Prohibition of Chemical Weapons says Syria has submitted a detailed plan to destroy its chemical arsenal on time.
The OPCW said in a statement that Damascus has handed over its formal initial declaration covering its chemical weapons program. The declaration includes a general plan of destruction to be considered by the OPCW Executive Council. Damascus was required to submit the destruction plan under a US-Russian deal agreed last month. Syria has already handed over an inventory of its chemical weapons and international inspectors are probing its facilities. The team has until November 1 to inspect the chemical weapons arsenals declared by Damascus and supervise the destruction of the related facilities.
