Speaking To a group of participants of The 24th International Islamic Unity Conference held in Tehran , the Leader of Muslim Ummah Ayatullah Sayyed Ali Khamenei claimed that Egyptian uprising is Islamic but the enemies are trying to fade its religious nature. “The enemies seek to paint an un-Islamic picture of the popular movements in Egypt, Tunisia and other parts of the Muslim world, but these popular movements are definitely Islamic and should be reinforced,” Ayatollah Khamenei added. The Leader then singled out the United States as the “major problem the Muslim world is faced with.” “This problem should be removed from the Muslim world and the US should be weakened,” Ayatollah Khamenei highlighted.

At the meeting, His Eminence said that the enemy is making efforts to foment discord and to confront the wave of Islamic Awakening. He added that hajj is a very valuable opportunity to establish a relationship with the Islamic Ummah and to reap the spiritual benefits. Ayatollah Khamenei said that hajj is one of the most important elements behind the success of Islam. He further described hajj as a great divine celebration which takes place at the center of glory, power and magnificence. \"Regarding the general and international dimension of hajj, it is necessary to pay serious attention to solidarity and strengthening Islamic bonds without taking nationalities, ethnicities and denominations into consideration. This opportunity should be used to make hearts get closer to one another.\" The Supreme Leader of the Islamic Revolution stressed that Muslims are a unified entity and added: \"Iranian pilgrims should take part in hajj ceremonies with this general and global outlook and they should let the nations that have recently carried out a revolution benefit from their thirty years of experience in fighting the arrogant powers and the enemies.\" His Eminence called on hajj pilgrims to prepare themselves spiritually before taking part in hajj ceremonies and added: \"With their behavior during hajj, Iranian pilgrims should make the world hold the Iranian nation and the Islamic Republic of Iran in high regard.\" Elsewhere in his statements, Ayatollah Khamenei referred to the recent economic corruption and reminded government officials to combat economic corruption in a decisive way. \"Government officials welcomed confronting economic corruption, but if they had acted on my recommendations, we would never have had events like the recent banking embezzlement.\" The Supreme Leader of the Islamic Revolution stressed that it is necessary to prevent corruption from becoming deep-rooted and added that it becomes very difficult to uproot corruption once it becomes deep-rooted. He assured the people that the three branches of government are determined to confront the recent event and to prevent similar events and said that government officials in the executive, legislative and judiciary branches are doing their duty.\" The Supreme Leader of the Islamic Revolution said that it inadvisable to create uproar which may prompt others to take advantage of this issue. However, he assured the people that government officials will follow up the issue until the end and that they will cut off the treacherous hands. His Eminence emphatically urged the judiciary to keep the people updated about the case and stressed: \"The judiciary system must not have mercy on wrong-doers, vandals and corrupt individuals.\" Iran\'s judiciary is investigating the recent large embezzlement case and has issued arrest warrants for a number of suspects. Also a number of bank managers have been fired. Gholam Hossein Mohseni Ejei Iran\'s Prosecutor General, who has been put in charge of the embezzlement case by the Judiciary Chief, has announced that the case is being investigated swiftly and decisively. He has also said that the culprits will be severely punished. Iran\'s Judiciary Chief Sadeq Larijani has stressed that the judiciary system will follow up the issue decisively. He has also said that the judiciary has been investigating the embezzlement case for almost two months.

In the Name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful All praise belongs to Allah, the Lord of the Two Worlds, and peace and greetings be upon the Master of Messengers, the Master of all people, our Master and Prophet, Ab-al-Qassem Al-Mustafa Muhammad, and upon his immaculate household and chosen companions and upon those who follow him well until the Day of Judgment. I would like to welcome all the dear guests, the honorable youth, the bearers of great news for the future of the Islamic Ummah. Each and every one of you is a bearer of a great piece of news. When the youth of a country awaken, there will be increased hope of a general awakening in that country. Today Muslim youth have awakened throughout the world of Islam. So many traps have been set in the way of proud and determined Muslim youth, but they have managed to eliminate these problems. You see what has happened in Tunisia, in Egypt, in Libya, in Yemen and in Bahrain. You see the movement that has taken place in other Islamic countries. This is all good news. You dear youth should know that the history of the world and the history of humanity is at a great momentous juncture today. A new era is starting throughout the world. The great and clear sign of it is the attention to Allah the Exalted, the cries for assistance from the inexhaustible source of divine power and reliance on divine revelations. Humanity has passed through the days of materialistic ideologies and schools and thought. Today neither Marxism, nor western liberal democracy, nor secular nationalism has any appeal. You see what is going on in the cradle of western liberal democracy - in America, in Europe. They admit failure. Today among members of the Islamic Ummah, the greatest appeal belongs to Islam, the Holy Quran and the school of thought that is based on divine revelation. Allah the Exalted has promised that the divine and Islamic school of thought and the school of thought that is based on divine revelation can help humanity achieve happiness. This is a very sacred, very important and very significant phenomenon. Today Islamic countries have risen up against dependent dictatorships. This is a prelude to an uprising against global and international dictatorship, namely the tyranny of the corrupt and evil network of the Zionists and the arrogant powers. Today international autocracy and dictatorship is embodied by the tyranny of America, America\\\\\\\'s followers and the satanic and dangerous Zionist network. Today they are acting like a dictator throughout the world by using different methods and different means. What you did in Egypt, what you did in Tunisia, what you did in Libya, what you are doing in Yemen, what you are doing in Bahrain - and strong motivation has built up in other countries to do the same - is part of a battle against this dangerous and harmful dictatorship that has been pressuring humanity for two centuries. The momentous juncture that I spoke about is the transition from the hegemony of this dictatorship to national freedom and the rule of spiritual and divine values. This will happen: do not consider discount it. This is a divine promise: \\\\\\\"And surely Allah will help him who helps His cause.\\\\\\\" [The Holy Quran, 22: 40] Allah the Exalted stresses that if you help His cause, He will assist you. This might look unlikely from a materialistic perspective, a perspective that is based on material calculations. However, there were many things which used to look unlikely, yet they happened. Around fifteen months ago, would you have thought the Egyptian taghut would be humiliated and annihilated like that? At that time, if people had been told that Mubarak\\\\\\\'s corrupt and dependent regime would be overthrown, many of them would have rejected the claim as unlikely, but it happened. Two years ago, if somebody had claimed that those amazing events would happen in North Africa, the majority of the people would have rejected it. If somebody had claimed that in a country like Lebanon, a group of faithful youth would manage to defeat the well-equipped Zionist army, nobody would have believed him. But these things happened. If somebody had said that the Islamic Republic would manage to resist for 32 years and achieve more power and progress on a daily basis in spite of all the enmity by the east and the west, nobody would have believed him, but it happened. \\\\\\\"Allah promised you many acquisitions which you will take, then He hastened on this one for you and held back the hands of men from you, and that it may be a sign for the believers and that He may guide you on a right path.\\\\\\\" [The Holy Quran, 48: 20] These victories are divine signs. They are signs of God\\\\\\\'s overwhelming power. Whenever the people step into the arena, whenever we enter the arena with all our heart and soul, there will definitely be divine assistance. Allah the Exalted shows us the path: \\\\\\\"And (as for) those who strive hard for Us, We will most certainly guide them in Our ways.\\\\\\\" [The Holy Quran, 29: 69] God will guide and assist. He will help people achieve their goals. The condition is that we should be present in the arena. What has happened so far is very significant. For two hundred years, westerners ruled the Islamic Ummah by making use of their scientific advances. They occupied Islamic countries: some of them directly, some of them indirectly with the help of local dictatorships. England, France and finally America - which is the Great Satan - spread their hegemony over the Islamic Ummah. They humiliated the Islamic Ummah as much as they could. They planted the cancerous tumor of Zionism at the heart of the strategic Middle East region and they strengthened it in every way. They were sure that their interests and policies had been safeguarded in this critical part of the world. But the Islamic resolve of Muslim people and their presence wiped out all these impossible dreams and put an end to all these goals. Today the arrogant powers of the world feel helpless in the face of Islamic Awakening. You are dominant. You will win. The future belongs to you. What has been done is a great achievement. But the important point is that this is not the end. This is only the beginning. Muslim nations must continue their struggle so that they can eliminate the enemy in different arenas. The battle is a battle of wills. Any side whose will is stronger has the upper hand. A person whose heart depends on Allah the Exalted has the upper hand. \\\\\\\"If Allah assists you, then there is none that can overcome you.\\\\\\\" [The Holy Quran, 3: 160] If you get divine assistance, nobody will overpower you and you will move forward. We want Muslim nations that make up the great Islamic Ummah to be free. We want them to be independent. We want them to be honorable. We want them to avoid humiliation. We want them to organize their life with the lofty and progressive rules of Islam. And Islam can help them to do so. They kept us scientifically backward for many years. They trampled on our culture. They destroyed our independence. Today we have awakened and we will conquer the arenas of science one after the other. Thirty years ago, when the Islamic Republic was established, the enemies used to say that although the Islamic Revolution had achieved victory, it would not be able to manage different areas of life. They used to say that the Islamic Revolution would back down. Thanks to Islam, today our youth have managed to make great achievements in scientific areas, achievement that would not have occurred to the enemies themselves in the past. Thanks to reliance on Allah the Exalted, today Iranian youth achieve great scientific accomplishments. They produce enriched uranium. They produce stem cells. They make great advances in biotechnology. They venture into space. And all of these things are due to reliance on Allah the Exalted and the slogan of \\\\\\\"Allahu Akbar\\\\\\\". [Audience shout \\\\\\\"Allahu Akbar\\\\\\\"] We must not underestimate our own capabilities. Among the biggest problems that western culture has imposed on Islamic countries is two wrong and misguided conceptions. First, they instilled a sense of incompetence into Muslim nations. They made Muslim nations believe that they were not capable of doing anything - neither in the political arena, nor in the economic arena, nor in the scientific arena. They told Muslim nations, \\\\\\\"You are weak.\\\\\\\" We Muslim nations suffered from this misconception for decades and we stayed backward. The second misconception that they instilled into our mind was that our enemies were invincible and that their power was overwhelming. They convinced us that America could not be defeated, that it was impossible to force the west to retreat, that we had to tolerate them. Today it has become clear to Muslim nations that both of these conceptions are completely wrong. Muslim nations can move forward. They can restore their Islamic glory - Muslims used to be at the peak of honor, at the peak of scientific, political and social brilliance. And the enemy has to retreat in different arenas. This century is the century of Islam. This century is the century of spirituality. Islam offers rationality, spirituality and justice to nations. The kind of Islam that is based on rationality, Islam that is based on thinking, Islam that is based on spirituality, Islam that is based on attention to God and reliance on Him, Islam that is based on jihad, Islam that is based on hard work, Islam that is based on action - these are divine and Islamic teachings for us. Today the important point is that the enemy is designing plots to compensate for the blows he has received in Egypt, Tunisia and other regional countries. We must pay attention to the machinations of the enemy. We must take care not to let them hijack popular revolutions from the people. We must take care not to let them derail these revolutions. Make use of the experiences of others. The enemy does many things in order to derail popular revolutions and neutralize popular movements. The enemy does many things in order to counteract selfless efforts and the blood that has been shed. It is necessary to be careful. It is necessary to be vigilant. You dear youth are the driving force behind these movements. Be vigilant. Be careful. We have gained a lot of experience over the past 32 years. It is 32 years that we have been countering hostilities. We have resisted and overpowered the enemy. [Audience shout \\\\\\\"Allahu Akbar\\\\\\\" and pledge allegiance to the Supreme Leader] The west and America have never refused to hatch plots against the Islamic Republic. If there was something they did not do, it was because they could not do it. They did whatever they could and they have been kicked in the mouth and defeated at every stage. [Audience shout \\\\\\\"death to America\\\\\\\"] The same thing will happen in the future as well. The Islamic Republic will continue foiling all their plots in the future as well. This is something that God has promised us and we do not have any doubts in this regard. We do not doubt the truthfulness of God\\\\\\\'s promise. We do not doubt Allah the Exalted. Allah the Exalted admonishes those who doubt Him. \\\\\\\"And (that) He may punish the hypocritical men and the hypocritical women, and the polytheistic men and the polytheistic women, the entertainers of evil thoughts about Allah. On them is the evil turn, and Allah is wroth with them and has cursed them and prepared hell for them, and evil is the resort.\\\\\\\" [The Holy Quran, 48: 6] God\\\\\\\'s promise is truthful. The Iranian nation has brought all its facilities into the arena and because we are in the battlefield, God will definitely assist us and the same is true of all other countries as well. But we must be vigilant. All of us must be vigilant. All of us must watch out for the machinations designed by the enemies. The enemy tries to counteract our movements and to foment discord. Today the Islamic movement throughout the world of Islam is independent of Shia and Sunni. It is independent of Shafi\\\\\\\'i, Hanafi, Ja\\\\\\\'fari, Maliki, Hanbali and Zeidi schools. It is independent of Arabs, Persians and other ethnicities. Everybody is present in this vast arena. We must try not to let the enemy foment discord among us. There must be a sense of brotherhood among us. We must try to specify our goal. The goal is Islam. The goal is Quranic and Islamic rule. Of course, there are certain differences and similarities among Muslim countries. There is no single paradigm that fits all Islamic countries. In different countries, there are different geographic, historical and social conditions, but there are also certain shared principles: all of us are opposed to the arrogant powers, all of us are opposed to the evil hegemony of the west, all of us are opposed to the cancerous tumor, Israel. [Audience shout \\\\\\\"death to Israel] Wherever it is felt that something is being done which would benefit Israel and America, we must be vigilant. We must know that it is a foreign move. We must know that it is not an insider move. Wherever there is an Islamic, anti-Zionist, anti-arrogance, anti-tyranny and anti-corruption move, that move would be a correct move and all of us would be insiders. Then it would not matter whether we are Shia or Sunni, or whether we are from this or that country. All of us must think in the same way. As an obvious example, notice that today all media companies of the world are trying to isolate the people of Bahrain and their movement. What is the reason? The reason is that the issue is a Shia-Sunni issue: they want to foment discord. They want to draw lines and separate Muslims. There is no difference between pious Muslims who have a tendency towards this or that Islamic denomination. Islam is the aspect that all of these denominations have in common. Unity of Islamic Ummah is the aspect that all of them have in common. [Audience shout \\\\\\\"Allahu Akbar\\\\\\\" and \\\\\\\"unity, Islamic unity\\\\\\\"] The secret behind victory and the continuation of the movement is reliance on God, trust in Him and maintaining unity and cohesion. My dear children, take care not to let the enemy stop your movement. In two different parts of the Holy Quran, Allah the Exalted tells His Messenger to be steadfast. \\\\\\\"Then stand firm in the right way as you are commanded.\\\\\\\" [The Holy Quran, 11: 112] \\\\\\\"And stand firm in the right way as you are commanded.\\\\\\\" [The Holy Quran, 42: 15] God tells the Holy Prophet (s.w.a.) to be steadfast. Being steadfast means continuing one\\\\\\\'s path in a determined way without stopping. This is the secret behind success. We must move forward. This movement is a successful movement because the prospects are bright. The future prospects are bright. By Allah\\\\\\\'s favor, there will be a day when the Islamic Ummah will reach the peak of power and independence. [Audience shout \\\\\\\"humiliation is far from us\\\\\\\"] While preserving their characteristics and differences, Muslim nations should come together under the banner of the call to God and the call to Islam. Then the Islamic Ummah will regain its dignity. We have natural resources in Muslim countries. We have strategic regions. We have numerous natural resources. We have outstanding figures. We have highly skilled and talented manpower. We must make efforts and Allah the Exalted will bless our efforts. I would tell you dear youth that the future belongs to you. By Allah\\\\\\\'s favor, you dear youth will see that day and you will hand down your sources of pride to the future generations. Greetings be upon you and Allah\\\\\\\'s mercy and blessings

ایک عظیم بشارت کا حامل ہے۔ جب کسی ملک میں نوجوان بیدار ہو جاتا ہے تو اس ملک میں عوامی بیداری کی امیدیں بڑھ جاتی ہیں۔ آج پورے عالم اسلام میں ہمارے نوجوان بیدار ہو چکے ہیں۔ نوجوانوں کے لئے کتنے جال بچھائے گئے لیکن غیور اور بلند ہمت مسلم نوجوان نے خود کو ہر جال سے نجات دلائی۔ آپ دیکھ رہے ہیں کہ تیونس میں، مصر میں، لیبیا میں، یمن میں، بحرین میں کیا ہوا۔ دیگر اسلامی ممالک میں کیسی تحریک اٹھی۔ یہ سب نوید اور خوش خبری ہے۔ میں آپ عزیز نوجوانوں، اپنے بچوں سے یہ عرض کروں گا کہ آپ یقین جانئے کہ آج تاریخ عالم اور تاریخ بشریت ایک عظیم تاریخی موڑ پر پہنچ گئی ہے۔ پوری دنیا میں ایک نئے دور کا آغاز ہو رہا ہے۔ اس دور کی واضح اور بڑی نشانیوں میں اللہ تعالی کی طرف توجہات کا مرکوز ہو جانا، اللہ تعالی کی لا متناہی قدرت سے مدد طلب کرنا اور وحی الہی پر تکیہ کرنا ہے۔ انسانیت مادی مکاتب فکر کو عبور کرکے آگے بڑھ آئی ہے۔ اب نہ مارکسزم میں کشش باقی رہ گئی ہے، نہ مغرب کی لبرل ڈیموکریسی میں جاذبیت کی کوئی رمق ہے۔ آپ خود دیکھ رہے ہیں کہ لبرل ڈیموکریسی کے گہوارے کے اندر، امریکہ اور یورپ کے اندر کیا حالات ہیں؟! شکست کا اعتراف کیا جا رہا ہے۔ اسی طرح سیکولر نیشنلزم میں بھی کوئی جاذبیت نہیں رہ گئی ہے۔ اس وقت امت اسلامیہ کی سطح پر سب سے زیادہ کشش اسلام میں نظر آ رہی ہے، قرآن میں نظر آ رہی ہے، وحی الہی پر استوار مکتب فکر میں نظر آ رہی ہے، اللہ تعالی نے یقین دلایا ہے کہ الہی مکتب فکر، وحی پر استوار مکتب فکر اور عزیز دین اسلام میں انسان کو سعادت اور کامرانی کی منزل تک پہنچنے کی پوری صلاحیت موجود ہے۔ یہ ایک نہایت اہم، بامعنی اور مبارک راستہ ہے۔ آج اسلامی ممالک میں اغیار پر منحصر آمریتوں کے لوگ اٹھ کھڑے ہوئے ہیں۔ یہ اس عالمی آمریت اور بین الاقوامی ڈکٹیٹر شپ کے خلاف علم بغاوت بلند ہونے کا مقدمہ ہے جو استکباری طاقتوں اور صیہونیوں کی ڈکٹیٹر شپ کے خبیث اور بدعنوان نیٹ ورک سے عبارت ہے۔ آج بین الاقوامی استبداد اور بین الاقوامی ڈکٹیٹر شپ امریکہ اور اس کے پیروؤں کی ڈکٹیٹر شپ اور صیہونیوں کے خطرناک شیطانی نیٹ ورک کی صورت میں مجسم ہو گئي ہے۔ اس وقت یہ عناصر مختلف چالوں سے اور گوناگوں حربوں کے ذریعے پوری دنیا میں اپنی آمریت چلا رہے ہیں۔ آپ نے جو کارنامہ مصر میں انجام دیا، تیونس میں انجام دیا، لیبیا میں انجام دیا، اور جو کچھ یمن میں انجام دے رہے ہیں، بحرین میں انجام دے رہے ہیں، بعض دیگر ممالک میں اس کے جذبات و احساسات برانگیختہ ہو چکے ہیں، یہ سب اس خطرناک اور زیاں بار ڈکٹیٹرشپ کے خلاف جدوجہد کا ایک جز ہے جو دو صدیوں سے انسانیت کو اپنے چنگل میں جکڑے ہوئے ہے۔ میں نے جس تاریخی موڑ کی بات کی وہ، اسی آمریت کے تسلط سے قوموں کی آزادی اور الہی و معنوی اقدار کی بالادستی کی صورت میں رونما ہونے والی تبدیلی سے عبارت ہے۔ یہ تبدیلی آکر رہے گی، آپ اسے بعید نہ سمجھئے! یہ اللہ کا وعدہ ہے«ولينصرنّ اللَّه من ينصره»(1) اللہ تعالی تاکید کے ساتھ ارشاد فرماتا ہے کہ اگر آپ نے اللہ کی مدد کی تو وہ آپ کی ضرور مدد فرمائے گا۔ ممکن ہے کہ عام نظر سے دیکھا جائے اور مادی اندازوں کی بنیاد پر پرکھا جائے تو یہ چیز بعید دکھائی دے لیکن بہت سی چیزیں ہیں جو بعید معلوم ہوتی تھیں مگر رونما ہو گئیں۔ کیا آپ ایک سال اور دو تین مہینے قبل یہ سوچ سکتے تھے کہ مصر کا طاغوت (ڈکٹیٹر حسنی مبارک کا اقتدار) اس طرح ذلت و رسوائی کے ساتھ ختم ہو جائے گا؟ اگر اس وقت لوگوں سے کہا جاتا کہ مبارک کی بدعنوان اور (بیرونی طاقتوں پر) منحصر حکومت ختم ہو جائے گی تو بہت سے لوگ اس کا یقین نہ کرتے، لیکن ایسا ہوا۔ اگر کوئی دو سال قبل یہ دعوی کرتا کہ شمالی افریقا میں یہ عجیب قسم کے واقعات رونما ہونے والے ہیں تو لوگوں کی اکثریت کو یقین نہ آتا۔ اگر کوئی لبنان جیسے ملک کے بارے میں کہتا کہ مومن نوجوانوں کی ایک تنظیم صیہونی حکومت اور پوری طرح مسلح صیہونی فوج کو شکست دیدے گی تو کوئی بھی اس پر یقین نہ کرتا، لیکن یہ ہوا۔ اگر کوئی کہتا کہ اسلامی جمہوری نظام مشرق و مغرب سے جاری مخاصمتوں اور دشمنیوں کے مقابلے میں بتیس سال تک ڈٹا رہے گا اور روز بروز زیادہ طاقتور اور زیادہ پیشرفتہ ہوتا جائے گا تو کوئی بھی یقین نہ کرتا، لیکن ایسا ہوا۔ «وعدكم اللَّه مغانم كثيرة تأخذونها فعجّل لكم هذه و كفّ ايدى النّاس عنكم و لتكون ءاية للمؤمنين و يهديكم صراطا مستقيما»(2) یہ کامیابیاں اللہ تعالی کی نشانیاں ہیں۔ یہ سب پر غالب رہنے والی حق کی طاقت ہے جس سے اللہ تعالی ہمیں روشناس کرا رہا ہے۔ جب عوام میدان میں آ جائيں اور ہم اپنا سب کچھ لیکر میدان میں اتر پڑیں تو نصرت الہی کا حاصل ہونا یقینی ہے۔ اللہ تعالی ہمیں راستا بھی دکھاتا ہے، «و الّذين جاهدوا فينا لنهدينّهم سبلنا».(3) اللہ تعالی ہدایت بھی کرتا ہے، مدد بھی کرتا ہے، بلند مقامات پر بھی پہنچاتا ہے، بس شرط یہ ہے کہ ہم میدان میں ثابت قدم رہیں۔ اب تک جو کچھ رونما ہوا ہے وہ بہت عظیم شئے ہے۔ مغربی طاقتوں نے اپنی سائنسی ترقی کی مدد سے دو سو سال تک امت اسلامیہ پر حکومت کی ہے، اسلامی ممالک پر قبضہ کیا، بعض پر براہ راست اور بعض دیگر پر مقامی ڈکٹیٹروں کے ذریعے بالواسطہ طور پر۔ برطانیہ، فرانس اور سب سے بڑھ کر امریکہ جو بڑا شیطان ہے، انہوں نے امت اسلامیہ پر تسلط قائم کیا۔ جہاں تک ہو سکا اسلامی امہ کی تحقیر کی، مشرق وسطی کے اس حساس علاقے کے قلب میں صیہونیت نامی کینسر لاکر ڈال دیا اور پھر ہر طرف سے اسے تقویت پہنچائی اور مطمئن ہو رہے کہ اب دنیا کے اس اہم ترین خطے میں ان کی پالیسیوں اور مقاصد کو مکمل تحفظ مل گیا ہے۔ لیکن جذبہ ایمانی ہمت و شجاعت، اسلامی ہمت و شجاعت اور عوامی شراکت نے ان تمام باطل خوابوں کو چکناچور کر دیا اور ان سارے اہداف پر پانی پھیر دیا۔ آج عالمی استکبار کو اسلامی بیداری کے مقابلے میں اپنی کمزوری اور ناتوانی کا احساس ہو رہا ہے۔ آپ غالب آ گئے ہیں، آپ فتحیاب ہیں، مستقبل آپ کے ہاتھ میں ہے۔ جو کام انجام پایا ہے وہ بہت عظیم کارنامہ ہے، لیکن کام یہیں ختم نہیں ہوا ہے۔ یہ بہت اہم نکتہ ہے۔ ابھی شروعات ہوئی ہے، یہ نقطہ آغاز ہے۔ مسلم اقوام کو چاہئے کہ اپنی جدوجہد جاری رکھیں تاکہ دشمن کو مختلف میدانوں سے باہر کر دیں۔ یہ مقابلہ عزم و ارادے کا مقابلہ ہے اور ہمت و حوصلے کی زور آزمائی ہے۔ جس فریق کا ارادہ مضبوط ہوگا وہ غالب آ جائے گا۔ جو دل اللہ تعالی پر تکیہ کئے ہوئے ہے اسے غلبہ حاصل ہوگا۔ «ان ينصركم اللَّه فلا غالب لكم»؛(4) اگر آپ کو نصرت الہی کا شرف حاصل ہو گیا تو پھر کوئی بھی آپ پر غلبہ حاصل نہیں کر سکے گا، آپ کو پیشرفت حاصل ہوگی۔ ہم چاہتے ہیں کہ مسلم اقوام جن سے عظیم امت اسلامیہ کی تشکیل عمل میں آئی ہے، آزاد رہیں، خود مختار رہیں، باوقار رہیں، کوئی ان کی تحقیر نہ کر سکے، اسلام کی اعلی تعلیمات و احکامات سے اپنی زندگی کو سنواریں۔ اسلام میں یہ توانائی موجود ہے۔ (دشمنوں نے) برسوں سے ہمیں علمی میدان میں پیچھے رکھا، ہماری ثقافت کو پامال کیا، ہماری خود مختاری کو ختم کر دیا۔اب ہم بیدار ہوئے ہیں۔ ہم علم کے میدانوں میں بھی یکے بعد دیگر اپنی بالادستی قائم کرتے جائیں گے۔ تیس سال قبل جب اسلامی جمہوریہ کی تشکیل عمل میں آئی تو دشمن کہتے تھے کہ اسلامی انقلاب تو کامیاب ہو گیا لیکن وہ یکے بعد دیگرے تمام شعبہ ہائے زندگی کو سنبھالنے میں ناکام ہوگا اور سرانجام پیچھے ہٹ جائے گا۔ آج ہمارے نوجوان اسلام کی برکت سے علم و دانش کے شعبے میں ایسے کارہائے نمایاں انجام دینے میں کامیاب ہوئے ہیں، جو خود ان کے بھی تصور سے پرے تھے۔ آج اللہ تعالی کی ذات پر توکل کی برکت سے ایرانی نوجوان عظیم علمی سرگرمیاں انجام دے رہا ہے۔ یورینیم افزودہ کر رہا ہے، اسٹیم سیلز پیدا کرکے اسے نشونما کے مراحل سے گزار رہا ہے، حیاتیات کے شعبے میں بڑے قدم اٹھا رہا ہے، خلائی شبے میں سرگرم عمل ہے، یہ سب اللہ تعالی کی ذات پر توکل اور نعرہ اللہ اکبر کے ثمرات ہیں۔۔۔۔۔(5) ہمیں اپنی صلاحیتوں کو معمولی نہیں سمجھنا چاہئے۔ مغربی ثقافت نے اسلامی ممالک پر سب سے بڑی مصیبت جو نازل کی وہ دو غلط اور گمراہ کن خیالات کی ترویج تھی۔ ان میں ایک، مسلمان قوموں کی ناتوانی اور عدم صلاحیت کی غلط سوچ تھی۔ انہوں نے دماغ میں بٹھا دیا کہ آپ کے بس میں کچھ بھی نہیں ہے۔ نہ سیاست کے میدان میں، نہ معیشت کے میدان میں اور نہ ہی علم و دانش کے میدان میں۔ کہہ دیا کہ \"آپ تو کمزور ہیں، اسلامی ممالک دسیوں سال کے اس طویل عرصے میں اسی غلط فہمی میں پڑے رہے اور پسماندگی کا شکار ہوتے چلے گئے۔ دوسرا غلط تاثر جو ہمارے اندر پھیلایا گيا وہ ہمارے دشمنوں کی طاقت کے لامتناہی اور ان کے ناقابل شکست ہونے کا تاثر تھا۔ ہمیں یہ سمجھا دیا گيا کہ امریکہ کو شکست دینا محال ہے، مغرب کو تو پسپا کیا ہی نہیں جا سکتا۔ ہمیں ان کے مقابلے میں سب کچھ برداشت کرنے میں ہی ہماری بھلائی ہے۔ آج یہ حقیقت مسلم اقوام کے سامنے آ چکی ہے کہ یہ دونوں ہی خیالات سراسر غلط تھے۔ مسلمان قومیں ترقی کرنے کی صلاحیت رکھتی ہیں، اسلامی عظمت و جلالت کو جو کسی زمانے میں علمی و سیاسی و سماجی شعبوں میں اپنے اوج پر تھی، دوبارہ حاصل کرنے پر قادر ہیں اور دشمن کو تمام میدانوں میں پسپائی اختیار کرنی پڑے گی۔ یہ صدی اسلام کی صدی ہے۔ یہ صدی روحانیت کی صدی ہے۔ اسلام نے معقولیت، روحانیت اور انصاف کو یکجا قوموں کے لئے پیش کر دیا ہے۔ عقل و خرد پر استوار اسلام، تدبر و تفکر کی تعلیم دینے والا اسلام، روحانیت و معنویت کی تلقین کرنے والا اسلام، اللہ تعالی کی ذات پر توکل کا راستہ دکھانے والا اسلام، جہاد کا درس دینے والا اسلام، جذبہ عمل کا سرچشمہ اسلام، عملی اقدام پر تاکید کرنے والا اسلام۔ یہ سب اللہ تعالی اور اسلام سے ہمیں ملنے والی تعلیمات ہیں۔ آج جو چیز سب سے اہم ہے، یہ ہے کہ دشمن کو مصر میں، تیونس میں، لیبیا میں اور علاقے کے دیگر ممالک میں کم و بیش جو ہزیمت اٹھانی پڑی ہے اس کی تلافی کے لئے وہ سازش اور منصوبہ تیار کرنے میں مصروف ہے۔ دشمن کی سازشوں پر نظر رکھنے کی ضرورت ہے۔ ہوشیار رہنے کی ضرورت ہے کہ (دشمن) عوامی انقلابوں کو سبوتاژ نہ کر لے، اسے راستے سے منحرف نہ کر دے۔ دوسروں کے تجربات سے استفادہ کیجئے! دشمن، انقلابوں کو غلط سمت میں موڑنے، تحریکوں کو بے اثر بنانے اور مجاہدتوں اور بہنے والے لہو کو بے نتیجہ بنانے کی بڑی کوشش کر رہا ہے۔ بہت محتاط رہنے کی ضرورت ہے، بہت ہوشیار رہنے کی ضرورت ہے۔ آپ نوجوان اس تحریک کے علمبردار ہیں، آپ ہوشیار رہئے، آپ محتاط رہئے۔ پچھلے بتیس برسوں میں ہمیں بڑے تجربات حاصل ہوئے ہیں، بتیس سال سے ہم نے دشمنیوں اور مخاصمتوں کا سامنا کیا ہے، استقامت کی ہے اور دشمنیوں پر غلبہ پایا ہے ۔۔۔۔ (6) کوئي بھی ایسی سازش نہیں ہے جو مغرب اور امریکہ، ایران کے خلاف کر سکتے تھے اور انہوں نے نہ کی ہو۔ اگر کوئی اقدام انہوں نے نہیں کیا تو صرف اس وجہ سے کہ وہ اقدام ان کے بس میں نہیں تھا۔ جو کچھ ان کے بس میں تھا، انہوں نے کیا اور ہر دفعہ انہیں منہ کی کھانی پڑی، ہزیمت اٹھانی پڑی۔۔۔۔۔۔(7) اور آئندہ بھی یہ سلسلہ جاری رہے گا۔ آئندہ بھی اسلامی جمہوریہ کے خلاف تمام سازشوں میں انہیں شکست ہوگی۔ یہ ہم سے اللہ کا وعدہ ہے جس کے بارے میں ہمیں کوئی شک و شبہ نہیں ہے۔ ہمیں اللہ تعالی کے وعدے کی صداقت میں کوئی شک و تردد نہیں ہے۔ ہمیں اللہ تعالی کی طرف سے کوئی بے اطمینانی نہیں ہے۔ اللہ ان لوگوں کی مذمت کرتا ہے جو اس کے تعلق سے بے اطمینانی میں مبتلا ہوتے ہیں۔ «و يعذّب المنافقين و المنافقات و المشركين و المشركات الظّانّين باللَّه ظنّ السّوء عليهم دائرة السّوء و غضب اللَّه عليهم و لعنهم و اعدّ لهم جهنّم و سائت مصيرا»(8) اللہ کا وعدہ سچا ہے۔ ہم چونکہ میدان میں موجود ہیں، مجاہدت کے میدان میں داخل ہو چکے ہیں، ملت ایران اپنے تمام وسائل و امکانات کے ساتھ میدان میں وارد ہو چکی ہے لہذا نصرت الہی کا حاصل ہونا یقینی ہے۔ دوسرے ممالک میں بھی یہی صورت حال ہے تاہم بہت محتاط رہنے کی ضرورت ہے۔ ہم سب کو ہوشیار رہنا چاہئے، ہم سب کو دشمنوں کے مکر و حیلے کی طرف سے چوکنا رہنا چاہئے۔ دشمن، تحریکوں کو ناکام بنانے کی کوشش کر رہا ہے، اختلاف کے بیج بونے کی کوشش کر رہا ہے۔ آج ‏عالم اسلام میں جاری اسلامی تحریکیں شیعہ اور سنی کے فرق پر یقین نہیں کرتیں۔ شافعی، حنفی، جعفری، مالکی، حنبلی اور زیدی کے فرق کو نہیں مانتیں۔ عرب، فارس اور دیگر قومیتوں کے اختلاف کو قبول نہیں کرتیں۔ اس عظیم وادی میں سب کے سب موجود ہیں۔ ہمیں کوشش کرنا چاہئے کہ دشمن ہمارے اندر تفرقہ نہ ڈال سکے۔ ہمیں اپنے اندر باہمی اخوت کا جذبہ پیدا کرنا چاہئے، ہدف کا تعین کر لینا چاہئے۔ ہدف اسلام ہے، ہدف قرآنی اور اسلامی حکومت ہے۔ البتہ اسلامی ممالک کے درمیان جہاں اشتراکات موجود ہیں، وہیں کچھ فرق بھی ہے۔ تمام اسلامی ممالک کے لئے کوئی واحد آئیڈیل نہیں ہے۔ مختلف ممالک کے جغرافیائی حالات، تاریخی حالات اور سماجی حالات الگ الگ ہیں تاہم مشترکہ اصول بھی پائے جاتے ہیں۔ استکبار کے سب مخالف ہیں، مغرب کے خباثت آمیز تسلط کے ہم سب مخالف ہیں، اسرائیل نامی کینسر کے سب مخالف ہیں۔۔۔۔۔ (9) جہاں بھی یہ محسوس ہو کہ کوئی نقل و حرکت اسرائیل کے مفاد میں انجام پا رہی ہے، امریکہ کے مفاد میں انجام پا رہی ہے، ہمیں وہاں ہوشیار ہو جانا چاہئے، یہ سمجھ لینا چاہئے کہ یہ حرکت اغیار کی ہے، یہ سرگرمیاں غیروں کی ہیں، یہ اپنوں کی مہم نہیں ہو سکتی۔ جب صیہونیت مخالف، استکبار مخالف اور استبداد و ظلم و فساد کے خلاف کام ہوتا نظر آئے تو وہ بالکل درست عمل ہے۔ وہاں سب \"اپنے\" لوگ ہیں۔ وہاں نہ کوئي شیعہ ہے نہ سنی، وہاں قومیت کا فرق ہے نہ شہریت کا۔ وہاں سب کو ایک ہی نہج پر سوچنا ہے۔ آپ غور کیجئے! اس وقت بالکل سامنے کی ایک مثال موجود ہے۔ دنیا کے تمام نشریاتی ادارے یہ کوشش کر رہے ہیں کہ بحرین کے عوام اور وہاں کی عوامی تحریک کو الگ تھلگ کر دیں۔ مقصد کیا ہے؟ یہ شیعہ سنی اختلاف بھڑکانا چاہتے ہیں۔ تفرقہ کا بیج بونے کی کوشش کر رہے ہیں، خلیج پیدا کرنے کی کوشش میں ہیں۔ حالانکہ ان مسلمانوں اور مومنین کے درمیان جن میں بعض کسی مسلک سے اور بعض دیگر کسی اور مسلک سے وابستہ ہیں، کوئی فرق نہیں ہے۔ اسلام نے سب کو ایک ہی لڑی میں پرو دیا ہے۔ سب امت اسلامیہ سے وابستہ ہیں، اسلامی امہ کا جز ہیں۔۔۔۔ (10) فتح کا راز، تحریک کے دوام کا راز اللہ کی ذات پر توکل، اللہ کے تعلق سے حسن ظن، اللہ تعالی پر اعتماد اور اتحاد اور مربوط کوششوں کا جاری رہنا ہے۔ میرے عزیزو! میرے بچو! آپ بہت محتاط رہئے، اپنی تحریک کو رکنے نہ دیجئے۔ اللہ تعالی نے قرآن میں دو جگہوں پر اپنے پیغمبر کو مخاطب کرکے فرمایا ہے؛ «فاستقم كما امرت»،(11) «و استقم كما امرت»؛(12) استقامت کا مظاہرہ کیجئے۔ استقامت یعنی پائیداری، یعنی راستے پر اٹل رہنا، حق کے جادے پر آگے بڑھتے رہنا، قدم نہ رکنے دینا۔ یہی کامیابی کا راز ہے۔ ہمیں آگے بڑھتے رہنا ہے، یہ تحریک کامیاب ہے، اس کا مستقبل تابناک ہے، اس کے افق روشن ہیں۔ مستقبل بالکل درخشاں ہے۔ وہ دن ضرور آئے گا جب امت اسلامیہ اللہ تعالی کی نصرت و مدد سے قوت و آزادی کی بلندیوں کو چھو لے گی۔۔۔۔۔(13) مسلمان اقوام اپنی خصوصیات اور تنوع کو باقی رکھتے ہوئے اللہ اور اسلام کے سائے میں جمع ہو جائیں، سب آپس میں متحد رہیں۔ ایسا ہو گيا تو امت اسلامیہ اپنی عظمت رفتہ کو دوبارہ حاصل کر لےگی۔ ہمارے ممالک زمین دوز ذخائر سے مالامال ہیں، ہمارے پاس اسٹریٹیجک اور سوق الجیشی اہمیت کے حامل خطے موجود ہیں، ہمارے پاس بے پناہ قدرتی وسائل ہیں، نمایاں ہستیاں ہیں، با صلاحیت افرادی قوت ہے، ہمیں ہمت سے کام لینا چاہئے۔ اللہ تعالی ہماری ہمتوں میں اور بھی اضافہ کرے گا۔ میں آپ نوجوانوں سے یہ عرض کرنا چاہتا ہوں کہ مستقبل آپ کا ہے۔ اللہ تعالی کی نصرت و مدد سے آپ نوجوان وہ دن ضرور دیکھیں گے اور انشاء اللہ اپنے افتخارات آئندہ نسلوں کو منتقل کریں گے۔ و السلام علیکم و رحمۃ اللہ و برکاتہ 1) حج: 40، اور جو بھی اللہ کی مدد کرے وہ اس کی یقینا مدد کرےگا۔ 2) فتح: 20، اللہ نے تم سے بہت The following is the full text of Ayatollah Khamenei’s inaugural address delivered on August 30, 2012 at the 16th Non-Aligned Summit in Tehran. In the Name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful All praise belongs to Allah, the Lord of the Two Worlds, and may peace and blessings be upon the greatest and trustworthy Messenger and on his pure progeny, his select companions, and all the prophets and divine envoys. I welcome you honorable guests, the leaders and delegations representing the member states of the Non-Aligned Movement, and all the other participants of this great international summit. We have gathered here to continue a movement with God’s guidance and assistance and to give it new life and momentum on the basis of the current conditions and needs in the world. The movement was founded almost six decades ago thanks to the intelligence and courage of a few caring and responsible political leaders who were aware of the conditions and circumstances of their time. Our guests have gathered here from different geographical locations, far and near, and they belong to different nationalities and races with different ideological, cultural and historical characteristics, but just as Ahmad Sukarno, one of the founders of this movement said in the famous Bandung Conference in the year 1955, the basis of establishing the Non-Aligned Movement is not geographical or racial and religious unity, but rather unity of needs. At that time, the member states of the Non-Aligned Movement were in need of a bond that could safeguard them against authoritarian, arrogant and insatiable networks and today with the progress and spread of the instruments of hegemony, this need still exists. I would like to point out another truth. Islam has taught us that in spite of their racial, linguistic and cultural differences, human beings share the same nature, which calls them to purity, justice, benevolence, compassion and cooperation. It is this universal human nature which – if it can safely steer away from misleading motives – guides human beings to monotheism and understanding of God’s transcendent essence. This brilliant truth has such potential that it can form the foundation of societies which are free and proud and at the same time enjoy progress and justice. It can extend the light of spirituality to all material and worldly endeavors of humankind and it can create a paradise on earth for human beings in advance of the other-worldly paradise, which has been promised by divine religions. And it is this common and universal truth that can form the foundations of brotherly cooperation among the nations that do not share any similarities in terms of outward structures, historical background and geographical location. Whenever international cooperation is based on such a foundation, governments will build their relationships with each other not on the basis of fear and threats, or greed and unilateral interests, or mediation of treasonous and venal individuals, but on the basis of wholesome and shared interests and more importantly, the interests of humanity. In this way, governments can relieve their awakened consciences and put the minds of their peoples at ease. This values-based order is the exact opposite of the hegemony-based order, which has been upheld, propagandized and led by hegemonic Western powers in the recent centuries and by the domineering and aggressive government of America today. Dear guests, today after the passage of nearly six decades, the main values of the Non-Aligned Movement remain alive and steady: values such as anti-colonialism, political, economic and cultural independence, non-alignment with any power blocs, and improving solidarity and cooperation among the member states. The realities of today’s world fall short of those values, but the collective will and comprehensive efforts to change the existing realities and achieve these values, though full of challenges, are promising and rewarding. In the recent past, we have been witness to the failure of the policies of the Cold War era and the unilateralism that followed it. Having learnt lessons from this historical experience, the world is in transition towards a new international order and the Non-Aligned Movement can and should play a new role. This new order should be based on the participation of all nations and equal rights for all of them. And as members of this movement, our solidarity is an obvious necessity in the current era for establishing this new order. Fortunately, the outlook of global developments promises a multi-faceted system in which the traditional power blocs are replaced with a group of countries, cultures and civilizations from different economic, social and political origins. The striking events that we have witnessed over the past three decades clearly show that the emergence of new powers has coincided with the decline of the traditional powers. This gradual transition of power provides the non-aligned countries with an opportunity to play a significant and worthy role on the world stage and prepare the ground for a just and truly participatory global management. In spite of varying perspectives and orientations, we member states of this movement have managed to preserve our solidarity and bond over a long period of time within the framework of the shared values and this is not a simple and small achievement. This bond can prepare the ground for transitioning to a just and humane order. Current global conditions provide the Non-Aligned Movement with an opportunity that might never arise again. Our view is that the control room of the world should not be managed by the dictatorial will of a few Western countries. It should be possible to establish and ensure a participatory system for managing international affairs, one that is global and democratic. This is what is needed by all the countries that have been directly or indirectly harmed as a result of the transgression of a few bullying and hegemonic countries. The UN Security Council has an illogical, unjust and completely undemocratic structure and mechanism. This is a flagrant form of dictatorship, which is antiquated and obsolete and whose expiry date has passed. It is through abusing this improper mechanism that America and its accomplices have managed to disguise their bullying as noble concepts and impose it on the world. They protect the interests of the West in the name of “human rights”. They interfere militarily in other countries in the name of “democracy”. They target defenseless people in villages and cities with their bombs and weapons in the name of “combating terrorism”. From their perspective, humanity is divided into first-, second- and third-class citizens. Human life is considered cheap in Asia, Africa and Latin America, and expensive in America and Western Europe. The security of America and Europe is considered important, while the security of the rest of humanity is considered unimportant. Torture and assassination are permissible and completely ignored if they are carried out by America, the Zionists and their puppets. It does not trouble their conscience that they have secret prisons in various places on different continents, in which defenseless prisoners who have no legal representation and have not been tried in a court of law are treated in the most hideous and detestable way. Good and evil are defined in a completely one-sided and selective way. They impose their interests on the nations of the world in the name of “international law”. They impose their domineering and illegal demands in the name of “international community”. Using their exclusive and organized media network, they disguise their lies as the truth, their falsehood as true, and their oppression as efforts to promote justice. In contrast, they brand as lies every true statement that exposes their deceit and label every legitimate demand as roguish. Friends, this flawed and harmful situation cannot continue. Everybody has become tired of this faulty international structure. The 99 percent movement of the American people against the centers of wealth and power in America and the widespread protests of the people in Western Europe against the economic policies of their governments show that the people are losing their patience with this situation. It is necessary to remedy this irrational situation. Firm, logical and comprehensive bonds between member states of the Non-Aligned Movement can play an important role in finding a remedy. Honorable audience, international peace and security are among the critical issues of today’s world and the elimination of catastrophic weapons of mass destruction is an urgent necessity and a universal demand. In today’s world, security is a shared need where there is no room for discrimination. Those who stockpile their anti-human weapons in their arsenals do not have the right to declare themselves as standard-bearers of global security. Undoubtedly, this will not bring about security for themselves either. It is most unfortunate to see that countries possessing the largest nuclear arsenals have no serious and genuine intention of removing these deadly weapons from their military doctrines and they still consider such weapons as an instrument that dispels threats and as an important standard that defines their political and international position. This conception needs to be completely rejected and condemned. Nuclear weapons neither ensure security, nor do they consolidate political power, rather they are a threat to both security and political power. The events that took place in the 1990s showed that the possession of such weapons could not even safeguard a regime like the former Soviet Union. And today we see certain countries which are exposed to waves of deadly insecurity despite possessing atomic bombs. The Islamic Republic of Iran considers the use of nuclear, chemical and similar weapons as a great and unforgivable sin. We proposed the idea of “Middle East free of nuclear weapons” and we are committed to it. This does not mean forgoing our right to peaceful use of nuclear power and production of nuclear fuel. On the basis of international laws, peaceful use of nuclear energy is a right of every country. All should be able to employ this wholesome source of energy for various vital uses for the benefit of their country and people, without having to depend on others for exercising this right. Some Western countries, themselves possessing nuclear weapons and guilty of this illegal action, want to monopolize the production of nuclear fuel. Surreptitious moves are under way to consolidate a permanent monopoly over production and sale of nuclear fuel in centers carrying an international label but in fact within the control of a few Western countries. A bitter irony of our era is that the U.S. government, which possesses the largest and deadliest stockpiles of nuclear arms and other weapons of mass destruction and the only country guilty of its use, is today eager to carry the banner of opposition to nuclear proliferation. The U.S. and its Western allies have armed the usurper Zionist regime with nuclear weapons and created a major threat for this sensitive region. Yet the same deceitful group does not tolerate the peaceful use of nuclear energy by independent countries, and even opposes, with all its strength, the production of nuclear fuel for radiopharmaceuticals and other peaceful and humane purposes. Their pretext is fear of production of nuclear weapons. In the case of the Islamic Republic of Iran, they themselves know that they are lying, but lies are sanctioned by the kind of politics that is completely devoid of the slightest trace of spirituality. One who makes nuclear threats in the 21st century and does not feel ashamed, will he feel ashamed of lying? I stress that the Islamic Republic has never been after nuclear weapons and that it will never give up the right of its people to use nuclear energy for peaceful purposes. Our motto is: “Nuclear energy for all and nuclear weapons for none.” We will insist on each of these two precepts, and we know that breaking the monopoly of certain Western countries on production of nuclear energy in the framework of the Non-Proliferation Treaty is in the interest of all independent countries, including the members of the Non-Aligned Movement. The Islamic Republic\\\\\\\'s successful experience in resistance against the bullying and comprehensive pressures by America and its accomplices has firmly convinced it that the resistance of a unified and firmly determined nation can overcome all enmities and hostilities and open a glorious path to its lofty goals. The comprehensive advances made by our country in the last two decades are facts for all to see, as repeatedly attested by official international observers. All this has happened under sanctions, economic pressures and propaganda campaigns by networks affiliated with America and Zionism. The sanctions, which were regarded as paralyzing by nonsensical commentators, not only did not and will not paralyze us, but have made our steps steadier, elevated our resolve and strengthened our confidence in the correctness of our analyses and the inborn capacities of our nation. We have with our own eyes repeatedly witnessed divine assistance in these challenges. Honored guests, I deem it necessary to speak about a very important issue, which though related to our region has dimensions extending far beyond it and which has influenced global policies for several decades. This issue is the agonizing issue of Palestine. The summary of this matter is that on the basis of a horrible Western plot and under the direction of England in the 1940s, an independent country with a clear historical identity called “Palestine” has been taken away from its people through the use of weapons, killings and deception and has been given to a group of people the majority of whom are immigrants from European countries. This great usurpation – which at the outset was accompanied with massacres of defenseless people in towns and villages and their expulsion from their homes and homeland to bordering countries – has continued for more than six decades with similar crimes and continues to this very day. This is one of the most important issues of the human community. Political and military leaders of the usurping Zionist regime have not avoided any crimes during this time: from killing the people, destroying their homes and farms and arresting and torturing men and women and even their children, to humiliating and insulting that nation and trying to destroy it in order to digest it in the haraam-eating stomach of the Zionist regime, to attacking their refugee camps in Palestine itself and in the neighboring countries where millions of refugees live. Such names as Sabra and Shatila, Qana and Deir Yasin have been etched in the history of our region with the blood of the oppressed Palestinian people. Even now after 65 years the same kind of crimes marks the treatment of Palestinians remaining in the occupied territories by the ferocious Zionist wolves. They commit new crimes one after the other and create new crises for the region. Hardly a day passes without reports of murder, injury and arrests of the youth who stand up to defend their homeland and their honor and protest against the destruction of their farms and homes. The Zionist regime, which has carried out assassinations and caused conflicts and crimes for decades by waging disastrous wars, killing people, occupying Arab territories and organizing state terror in the region and in the world, labels the Palestinian people as “terrorists”, the people who have stood up to fight for their rights. And the media networks which belong to Zionism and many of the Western and mercenary media repeat this great lie in violation of ethical values and journalistic commitment, and the political leaders who claim to defend human rights have closed their eyes on all these crimes and support that criminal regime shamelessly and boldly and assume the role of their advocates. Our standpoint is that Palestine belongs to the Palestinians and that continuing its occupation is a great and intolerable injustice and a major threat to global peace and security. All solutions suggested and followed up by the Westerners and their affiliates for “resolving the problem of Palestine” have been wrong and unsuccessful, and it will remain so in the future. We have put forth a just and entirely democratic solution. All the Palestinians – both the current citizens of Palestine and those who have been forced to immigrate to other countries but have preserved their Palestinian identity, including Muslims, Christians and Jews – should take part in a carefully supervised and confidence-building referendum and chose the political system of their country, and all the Palestinians who have suffered from years of exile should return to their country and take part in this referendum and then help draft a Constitution and hold elections. Peace will then be established. Now I would like to give a benevolent piece of advice to American politicians who always stood up to defend and support the Zionist regime. So far, this regime has created countless problems for you. It has presented a hateful image of you to the regional peoples, and it has made you look like an accomplice in the crimes of the usurping Zionists. The material and moral costs borne by the American government and people on account of this are staggering, and if this continues, the costs might become even heavier in the future. Think about the Islamic Republic\\\\\\\'s proposal of a referendum and with a courageous decision, rescue yourselves from the current impossible situation. Undoubtedly, the people of the region and all free-thinkers across the world will welcome this measure. Honorable guests, now I would like to return to my initial point. Global conditions are sensitive and the world is passing through a crucial historical juncture. It is anticipated that a new order shall be born. The Non-Aligned Movement, which includes almost two-thirds of the world community, can play a major role in shaping that future. The holding of this major conference in Tehran is itself a significant event to be taken into consideration. By pooling our resources and capacities, we members of this movement can create a new historic and lasting role towards rescuing the world from insecurity, war and hegemony. This goal can be achieved only through our comprehensive cooperation with each other. There are among us quite a few countries that are very wealthy and countries that enjoy international influence. It is completely possible to find solutions for problems through economic and media cooperation and through passing on experiences that help us improve and make progress. We need to strengthen our determination. We need to remain faithful to our goals. We should not fear the bullying powers when they frown at us, nor should we become happy when they smile at us. We should consider the will of God and the laws of creation as our support. We should learn lessons from what happened to the communist camp two decades ago and from the failure of the policies of so-called “Western liberal democracy” at the present time, whose signs can be seen by everybody in the streets of European countries and America and in the insoluble economic problems of these countries. And finally, we should consider the Islamic Awakening in the region and the fall of the dictatorships in North Africa, which were dependent on America and were accomplices to the Zionist regime, as a great opportunity. We can help improve the “political productivity” of the Non-Aligned Movement in global governance. We can prepare a historic document aimed to bring about a change in this governance and to provide for its administrative tools. We can plan for effective economic cooperation and define paradigms for cultural relationships among ourselves. Undoubtedly, establishing an active and motivated secretariat for this organization will be a great and significant help in achieving these goals. Thank you.

Supreme Leader\\\'s Speech to Government Officials and Participants of Conference on Islamic Unity 29/01/2013 The following is the full text of the speech delivered on January 29, 2013 by Ayatollah Khamenei the Supreme Leader of the Islamic Revolution in a meeting with government officials and foreign participants of the 26th Conference on Islamic Unity. The meeting was held on the occasion of the birthday anniversaries of the Holy Prophet (s.w.a.) and Imam Sadiq (a.s.). In the Name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful I would like to congratulate all of you honorable audience, the dear guests, who have come here from other countries, the ambassadors of Islamic countries and also all the great people of Iran - who proved their kindness and commitment to the issue of prophethood in practice - on this auspicious and great Eid. I also congratulate the entire Islamic Ummah - who has a feeling of unity and unanimity centered on the auspicious name of the Holy Prophet (s.w.a.) - on this great Eid. I would like to extend my congratulation to all the liberated people throughout the world on this auspicious Eid. The blessings which have been bestowed on the great birthday of the Holy Prophet (s.w.a.) really belong to all the liberated people throughout the world. These blessings belong to all the people who are after liberation, justice and achieving lofty and divine values. A number of mystics believe that the month of Rabi al-Awwal is the spring of life in the real sense of the word because in this month the Holy Prophet (s.w.a.) and also his honorable grandson, Imam Abu Abdullah Ja\\\'far ibn Muhammad al-Sadiq were born. And the birthday of the Holy Prophet (s.w.a.) is the beginning of all the blessings that Allah the Exalted has bestowed on humanity. We - who consider Islam as a tool for humanity to achieve happiness and salvation - [should know that] this divine blessing is because of the Holy Prophet (s.w.a.) which has been bestowed on us in this month. In fact, we should consider this great birthday as the beginning of all the blessings with which Allah the Exalted honored the human community, the Islamic Ummah and the followers of truth. It is not enough to merely celebrate this birthday anniversary. We should primarily strengthen our spiritual relationship with the Holy Prophet (s.w.a.). The world of Islam should strengthen its spiritual and emotional relationship with the Holy Prophet (s.w.a.) on a daily basis. This is the common ground between all the Muslims throughout the world. Those whose hearts beat for the formation of the Islamic Ummah should rely on this issue: the spiritual and emotional relationship with the Holy Prophet (s.w.a.). That is to say, they should primarily make a serious decision to follow this great personality in all the issues. In a number of holy Quranic ayahs, certain points have been explained about the Holy Prophet\\\'s (s.w.a.) behavior, his political behavior, the kind of government he had and his feeling towards the people - whether towards Muslims or non-Muslims. The moral education of the great companions of the Holy Prophet (s.w.a.) and their behavior show the kind of orientation that Islam and the Holy Prophet (s.w.a.) adopted towards education of the Islamic Ummah. We should practice these in our own lives. We should do these in practice. It is not enough to say these in words. Today, the ground is prepared for this issue. Islamic Awakening is a truth and it has happened. After many decades of domination during which the enemies of Islam and the enemies of Muslims spread their domination over Islamic countries - in the form of direct colonialism, neocolonialism, indirect colonialism and in the form of cultural, economic and political domination - the core of awakening has grown gradually. And after many years during which the Muslim nations were crushed under the enormous pressure of domination of the west and European and American governments, Islamic Awakening has been established and it is revealing itself. Today, people throughout the world of Islam feel that Islam is their tool for achieving dignity, glory and independence. Thanks to Islam, all the national dreams of a nation can come true in the world of Islam. Thanks to Islam, Islamic nations can stand up against the domination of the west and against the arrogance, oppressive domination and exploitation of western governments. And the west has to retreat. Today, you can see this in the world of Islam. More than thirty years ago this event took place in Iran. Today, we also see this in the world of Islam such as in North Africa. Steps are taken towards victory. Of course, there are certain problems, but if we remain vigilant, problems cannot create obstacles in our way. The Holy Quran says, \\\"They shall by no means harm you but with a slight evil\\\" [The Holy Quran, 3: 111]. Yes, they harm us and create problems for us. But, if we have determination, rely on God and decide to move forward, they cannot create obstacles in our way. Today, Islamic nations have awakened. Thanks to Islam, they feel that they can get their message across to the enemies of the world of Islam and the corrupt Zionist network which has established domination over policies of western governments. These victories are very valuable. \\\"Allah promised you many acquisitions which you will take, then He hastened on this one for you\\\". This is part of the divine promise which was fulfilled. \\\"And held back the hands of men from you, and that it may be a sign for the believers and that He may guide you on a right path\\\" [The Holy Quran, 48: 20]. Each victory that a nation achieves against the enemies and against their propaganda and evil tools is a divine testimony and a divine sign: \\\"And that it may be a sign\\\". If you move forward, you will achieve results. Today the world of Islam is faced with the plots of the enemies. I would tell you dear brothers and sisters - whether Iranian or non-Iranian - that today, the enemy\\\'s most important tool for confronting Islamic Awakening is creating discord. They want to pitch Muslims against Muslims, destroy Muslims at the hands of Muslims and keep them busy with conflicts. What is better than keeping Muslims busy with conflicts for the enemies of Islamic independence? Since the first day that the Islamic Revolution achieved victory, they pursued the policy of creating discord among our nation and our country. But the Islamic Republic stood up against this plot with absolute determination. We announced, our magnanimous Imam (r.a.) announced and the Iranian nation repeatedly stressed - throughout his lifetime and after his demise - that we believe in Islamic brotherhood. We condemn any rift among Muslims. This is exactly the opposite of what the enemies\\\' agents, who use any small incident to create discord among Muslims, want. If you take a look, you see that today the policy of the enemies of Islamic Awakening in North African countries is to create discord. This is the policy of global arrogance. They want to make them kill one another and pitch them against one another. The cure for this disease is a feeling of unity between Muslims. Muslim nations should become united. Inside each country, different groups, different denominations and different parties should join hands. They should not let religious, political and partisan differences and differences of opinion dominate their major moves so that they can stand up against the enemy. Today, this is the only way. The enemies try to create discord by using all kinds of tricks. You can see this. When Muslims busy themselves with conflicts, the issue of Palestine and standing up against the greed of America and the west will be sidelined and the enemies will find the opportunity to hatch their plots. Today, we can see that westerners have started a new movement in Africa in order to dominate African nations and to maintain their presence again in the lives of African people. When the fire of discord is kindled, the enemy finds the opportunity to do anything. What disasters they are creating in Pakistan, our neighboring country, under the pretext of differences in this country. How they make a group of people kill another group of people in Syria. How they completely silence the voice of a nation in Bahrain. They deprive a nation of everything. How they pitch the people against one another in Egypt and other areas. These are the policies which may have been shaped as a result of certain individuals\\\' personal and religious motives. But the main plot has been hatched by the enemies. I do not accuse anybody of intentionally and willingly hatching the plot of the enemy. But I firmly say that each kind of discord among Muslim nations or inside each Islamic country means that they are playing into the enemies\\\' hands. This is a kind of help offered to the enemy. Everybody should take the issue of unity seriously. Primarily elites, including political, religious, academic and seminary elites should do this. Elites, wherever they are, should do this. In our country, everybody should take the issue of unity seriously. Creating religious discord among different Muslim groups is a great danger. If the enemies can fuel the fire of sectarian discord somewhere, extinguishing this fire is one of the most difficult tasks. We should prevent this from happening. This is not possible except if the elites, in each country, show their initiative, make efforts and preserve their purity. Scholars, academics, politicians and those who are influential, should explain to the people the plot of the enemy and his hope of creating discord among the people, Islamic countries, Islamic parties, different orientations in different Islamic denominations and between Shia and Sunni. They should inform the people. This is a great danger which the enemies have been involved with. The English have long experiences in this regard. We have read about them in history books and we can see what they have done to create discord. They know how to do it and the others have learnt this from them. They are busy trying to create discord. We should avoid discord. We should not fuel the fire of discord by arousing shallow and vulgar feelings. This will burn the fate of nations. It will completely destroy them, it will help the enemies of Islam, the enemies of Muslims and the enemies of independence succeed in their goals and it will help them hatch their plots. We should remain vigilant. Islamic unity is a sacred slogan. If the Holy Prophet (s.w.a.) were among us today, he would invite us to promote unity as this holy ayah says, \\\"It grieves him that you should perish: ardently anxious is he over you: to the believers is he most kind and merciful\\\" [The Holy Quran, 9: 128]. I welcome you honorable guests and I ask Almighty and Merciful God to bless this collective effort and make it an effective step towards happiness of Muslims. \\\\\\\"Surely He listens and responds.\\\\\\\" Today the subject of Islamic Awakening, which you will discuss in this conference, tops the list of the issues of the Islamic world and the Islamic Ummah, an amazing phenomenon that will result in the re-emergence of Islamic civilization - for the Islamic Ummah and then for all of the world - in the not too distant future providing that, with Allah\\\\\\\'s permission, it stays healthy and continues. Today what lies in front of our eyes and cannot be denied by any informed and intelligent individual is that the world of Islam has now emerged out of the sidelines of social and political equations of the world, that it has found a prominent and outstanding position at the center of decisive global events, and that it offers a fresh outlook on life, politics, government and social developments. This is considered an important and significant phenomenon in today\\\\\\\'s world, which is suffering from a deep intellectual and theoretical vacuum after the failure of communism and liberalism. This is the first sign of the political and revolutionary events in North Africa and the Arab region on a global scale, which itself is a harbinger of greater truths that will come to pass in the future. Islamic Awakening, which speakers in the arrogant and reactionary camp do not even dare to mention in words, is a truth whose signs can be witnessed in almost all parts of the world of Islam. The most obvious sign of it is the enthusiasm of public opinion, especially among young people, to revive the glory and greatness of Islam, to become aware of the nature of the international order of domination and to remove the mask from the shameless, oppressive and arrogant face of the governments and centers that have been pressuring the Islamic and non-Islamic East in their clutches for more than two hundred years and have been exposing nations to their brutal and aggressive thirst for power disguised with the mask of civilization and culture. The dimensions of this auspicious awakening are widespread and mysterious, but what was witnessed of its immediate outcomes in a few North African countries can make hearts confident about the great and amazing outcomes that will be achieved in the future. Miraculous fulfillment of divine promises is always a hope-inspiring sign that promises the fulfillment of greater promises. The Quranic account of the two promises that Allah the Exalted gave to the mother of Prophet Moses is an example of this divine tactic. At that difficult moment, when she was ordered to cast her baby in the river in a basket, Allah the Exalted said, \\\\\\\"Surely We will bring him back to you and make him one of the messengers.\\\\\\\" [The Holy Quran, Sura al-Qasas, Ayah 7] The fulfillment of the first promise, which was the smaller promise and a cause for happiness for the mother, became the sign of the fulfillment of the promise of prophetic mission, which was far greater and of course, it required long-term suffering, struggle and patience: \\\\\\\"So We restored him to his mother that her eye might be refreshed, and that she might not grieve, and that she might know that the promise of Allah is true...\\\\\\\" [The Holy Quran, Sura al-Qasas, Ayah 13] This true promise was the great mission which was fulfilled after many years and it changed the course of history. Another example is the reminder about the overwhelming power of God to suppress the invaders of the Holy House: in order to encourage His audience through the Holy Prophet to submit to His order, Allah the Exalted makes use of this example \\\\\\\"so let them serve the Lord of this House\\\\\\\" [The Holy Quran, Sura Quraysh, Ayah 3] and says, \\\\\\\"Did He not cause their war to end in confusion?\\\\\\\" [The Holy Quran, Sura al-Fil, Ayah 2] Similarly, in order to raise the spirits of His beloved Prophet and convince him of the truth of the promise \\\\\\\"your Lord has not forsaken you, nor has He become displeased\\\\\\\" [The Holy Quran, Sura ad-Dhuha, Ayah 3], Allah the Exalted gives the reminder about the miraculous blessing: \\\\\\\"Did He not find you an orphan and give you shelter? He found you astray and guided you.\\\\\\\" [The Holy Quran, Sura ad-Dhuha, Ayah 6-7] And there are many such examples in the Holy Quran. The day when Islam achieved victory in Iran and managed to capture the fort of America and Zionism in one of the most important countries in this extremely sensitive region, those who were wise and quick to learn realized that if they had patience and insight, other victories will come one after another. The brilliant truths in the Islamic Republic, which are acknowledged by our enemies, have all been achieved in the shade of trust in divine promises, patience, resistance and asking God for assistance. In the face of temptations by weak people who, during tense times, shout \\\\\\\"we are sure to be overtaken,\\\\\\\" [The Holy Quran, Sura ash-Shuara, Ayah 61] our people have always shouted \\\\\\\"by no means, my Lord is with me and soon will He guide me.\\\\\\\" [The Holy Quran, Sura ash-Shuara, Ayah 62] Today this is a precious experience that is available to the peoples who have stood up against arrogance and tyranny and have managed to overthrow and shake corrupt governments that are subservient to and dependent on America. Resistance, patience, insight and faith in the divine promise \\\\\\\"surely Allah will help him who helps His cause\\\\\\\" will pave this path of glory for the Islamic Ummah until it reaches the peak of Islamic civilization. At this important meeting, which has been attended by a group of religious scholars of the Islamic Ummah from different Islamic countries and denominations, I believe it is appropriate to discuss a few necessary points regarding the issue of Islamic Awakening. The first point is that the earliest waves of awakening in the countries of this region, which started simultaneously with the entry of the pioneers of colonialism, were mainly caused by religion and religious reformers. The names of outstanding leaders and personalities - such as Sayyid Jamal ad-Din, Muhammad Abduh, Mirza-e Shirazi, Akhund-e Khorasani, Mahmoud al-Hassan, Muhammad Ali, Sheikh Fazlollah, Hajj Agha Noorullah, Abul A\\\\\\\'la Maududi and tens of famous, great, mujahid and and influential clerics from Iran, Egypt, India and Iraq - have been recorded in history books forever. Similarly, in the contemporary era, the brilliant name of the great Imam Khomeini is shining like a brilliant star at the forefront of the Islamic Revolution. Meanwhile, today and in the past, hundreds of famous religious scholar and thousands of lesser-known religious scholars have played a role in great and small reform movements in different countries. The list of non-cleric religious reformers, such as Hassan al-Banna and Iqbal Lahori, is also long and amazing. Almost everywhere, clerics and theologians have been the intellectual authority and spiritual support for the people and wherever they have appeared in the role of guides and pioneers at the time of great developments and have moved forward in the first rows of popular movements in the face of dangers, the intellectual bond between them and the people has been strengthened and they have played a significant role in showing the path to the people. This is as beneficial to the wave of Islamic Awakening as it is unpleasant and distressing to the enemies of the Islamic Ummah, those who bear grudges against Islam and those who are opposed to the rule of Islamic values, and they are trying to take away this intellectual authority from religious strongholds and create new centers for it. They have learned through experience that they can easily reach a compromise with these centers over national principles and values, and this is something that will never happen in the case of pious religious scholars and devoted religious personalities. This makes the responsibility of religious scholars heavier. Through vigilance and caution and by identifying the enemy\\\\\\\'s deceptive methods and machinations, they should completely shut the door to infiltration and foil the enemy\\\\\\\'s plots. One of the greatest calamities is becoming attracted to the lure of worldly wealth. Exposure to the favors of wealthy and powerful people and being indebted to taghuts of lust and power are the most dangerous cause of separation from the people and loss of their trust and friendliness. Self-centeredness and thirst for power, which lure weak individuals towards developing an inclination to poles of power, prepare the ground for involvement in corruption and deviation. It is necessary to constantly keep this holy Quranic ayah in mind: \\\\\\\"(As for) that future abode, We assign it to those who have no desire to exalt themselves in the earth nor to make mischief and the good end is for those who guard (against evil).\\\\\\\" [The Holy Quran, Sura al-Qasas, Ayah 83] Today in the era of hope-inspiring movements of Islamic Awakening, sometimes certain things are witnessed which on the one hand, show the efforts by the agents of America and Zionism to create unreliable intellectual authorities and which on the other hand, show the efforts by debauched Qaruns to drag religious and pious people towards their poisoned and contaminated activities. Religious scholars and pious men should be extremely vigilant and careful. The second point is the necessity of delineating a long-term goal for Islamic Awakening in Muslim countries, a noble aim that gives orientation to the awakening of nations and helps them reach a certain point. It is through identifying this particular point that one can prepare a roadmap and specify the medium- and short-term goals in it. This final goal cannot be anything less than creating a brilliant Islamic civilization. All parts of the Islamic Ummah - in the form of different nations and countries - should achieve the civilizational position that has been specified in the Holy Quran. The main and the general characteristic of this civilization is that it should allow human beings to utilize all the material and spiritual capacities that Allah the Exalted has bestowed on them and on the world in order to bring about happiness and transcendence for humanity. The surface structure of this civilization can and should be witnessed in popular government, in the laws that have been extracted from the Holy Quran, in identifying and addressing different needs of humanity, in avoidance of rigidity and reactionary attitudes as well as unwarranted innovation and adulteration, in creating public welfare and wealth, in establishing justice, in liberation from an economy that is based on special privileges, usury and taking pride in wealth, in promoting human values, in defending oppressed people in the world, and in hard work and innovation. Adopting an ijtihadi and scholarly outlook on different areas - ranging from humanities to the system of formal education, from economy and banking to technical and technological production, from modern media to art and cinema and to international relations and other areas - are all among the requirements for this civilization-building. Experience has shown that all of these things are possible and within the capacities of Muslim communities. This outlook must not be treated with haste and pessimism. Being pessimistic about one\\\\\\\'s capabilities is ingratitude to God\\\\\\\'s blessings, and neglecting help from God and the laws of creation amounts to slipping into the morass of entertaining \\\\\\\"evil thoughts about Allah.\\\\\\\" [The Holy Quran, Sura al-Fath, Ayah 6] We can break the chain of scientific, economic and political monopolies of the domineering powers and help the Islamic Ummah become the pioneer of restoring the rights of the majority of nations in the world, which have been dominated by a minority of arrogant powers. Through religious faith, knowledge, ethics and constant struggle, Islamic civilization can gift advanced thought and noble codes of behavior to the Islamic Ummah and to the entire humanity, and it can be the point of liberation from materialistic and oppressive outlooks and corrupt codes of behavior that form the pillars of current Western civilization. The third point is that in the movements of Islamic Awakening it is necessary to pay constant attention to the bitter and horrifying experience of following the West in politics, behavior and lifestyle. In more than a century of following the culture and politics of the arrogant powers, Muslim countries suffered from deadly calamities such as political dependence and humiliation, economic plights and poverty, decline of moral virtues and ethics and shameful scientific backwardness, and this was while the Islamic Ummah enjoyed a glorious history in all of these areas. This statement must not be interpreted as hostility towards the West. We are not hostile towards any group of human beings because of geographical differences. We have learnt lessons from Ali (greetings be upon him) who describes human beings in this way: \\\\\\\"Those who have the same religion as you, they are brothers to you, and those who have religions other than that of yours, they are human beings like you.\\\\\\\" Our complaint against oppression and arrogance and against bullying and transgression is the moral and practical degeneration that has been imposed on our nations by the colonial and arrogant powers. Currently, we can witness the bullying and interference of America and some of its followers in the region in the countries in which the breeze of awakening has turned into the storm of uprisings and revolutions. Their promises must not affect the decisions and actions of outstanding political personalities and the great movement of the people. In this case as well, we need to learn lessons from our experiences: those who pinned their hopes on the promises of America for years and based their behavior and policies on the inclination towards the oppressor did not manage to resolve any problems of their nations or eliminate an injustice to themselves or to others. By surrendering to America, they did not manage to prevent the demolition of even one single Palestinian home in a territory that belongs to the Palestinians. The politicians and outstanding personalities who are deceived by the bribe or intimidated by the threats of the camp of the arrogant powers and miss the great opportunity of Islamic Awakening should be apprehensive about this divine threat: \\\\\\\"Have you not seen those who have changed Allah\\\\\\\'s favor for ungratefulness and made their people to alight into the abode of perdition into hell? They shall enter into it and an evil place it is to settle in.\\\\\\\" [The Holy Quran, Sura Ibrahim, Ayah 28-29] The fourth point is that today one of the most dangerous things that threatens the movement of Islamic Awakening is the efforts to foment discord and turn these movements into bloody sectarian, ethnic and national conflicts. Currently, this plot is being seriously pursued by intelligence services of the West and Zionism with the help of petrodollars and bribed politicians from East Asia to North Africa and particularly in the Arab region. And the money that could have been spent to bring about happiness for mankind is being used to make threats, excommunicate, assassinate, bomb, shed Muslim blood and to kindle the fire of long-lasting grudges. Those who consider the unified power of Islam as an obstacle in the way of their evil goals have come to the conclusion that fanning the flames of conflicts inside the Islamic Ummah is the easiest way to achieve their satanic goal and they have used differences of opinion in Islamic jurisprudence, kalaam, history and hadith - which are natural and inevitable - as a pretext to excommunicate, shed blood and cause fitna and corruption. A vigilant look at the scene of domestic conflicts clearly reveals the enemy\\\\\\\'s hands behind these tragedies. These deceptive hands undoubtedly take advantage of the ignorance, prejudice and superficiality that exists in our societies and they add fuel to the fire. The responsibility of religious and political reformers and outstanding personalities is very heavy in this regard. Currently, Libya, Egypt and Tunisia, Syria, Pakistan, and Iraq and Lebanon are in one way or another involved in or exposed to these dangerous flames. It is necessary to be extremely careful and to look for a remedy. It would be naïve to think that all of these things are due to ideological and ethnic factors and motives. Propaganda campaigns of the West and dependent and mercenary media in the region pretend that the destructive war in Syria is a Shia-Sunni conflict and they create a safety margin for the Zionists and the enemies of resistance in Syria and Lebanon. This is while the two sides of the conflict in Syria are not Shia and Sunni, rather they are the supporters and opponents of anti-Zionist resistance. Neither the Syrian government is a Shia government, nor is the secular and anti-Islam opposition a Sunni group. The only achievement of the plotters of this calamitous scenario is that they have managed to make use of religious sentiments of simple-minded people to kindle this deadly fire. A look at the scene and those who are involved in it at different levels can clarify the issue for any just individual. Also, in the case of Bahrain, this wave of propaganda is spreading lies and deception in another way. In Bahrain, the oppressed majority - who have been deprived of the right to vote as well as other fundamental rights that a nation should enjoy - have risen up to demand their rights. Should this be considered a Shia-Sunni conflict simply because the oppressed majority are Shia and the oppressive secular government pretends to be Sunni? Of course, the European and American colonialists and their friends in the region want to make things appear like this, but what is the truth? These are the things that call religious scholars and just reformers to careful thinking and sense of responsibility and they make identification of the enemies\\\\\\\' goals behind highlighting sectarian, ethnic and partisan differences an obligation for everybody. The fifth point is that one of the standards for judging whether Islamic Awakening movements are on the right path is the positions they adopt on the issue of Palestine. Since sixty years ago up until today, the occupation of Palestine has been the biggest tragedy that has been imposed on the Islamic Ummah. Since the first day up until today, the tragedy of Palestine has been a combination of killings, assassinations, destruction, usurpation and transgression against what is held sacred in Islam. The necessity of putting up a resistance against this warring and usurping enemy and fighting him has been agreed upon by all Islamic denominations and all honest and healthy national currents. Any current in Islamic countries which disregards this religious and national responsibility out of consideration for the domineering demands of America or under the pretext of unreasonable justifications should not expect to be viewed as loyal to Islam and sincere in its nationalistic claims. This is a test. Anybody who does not accept the slogan of liberating Holy Quds and saving the Palestinian nation and Palestinian territories or anybody who sidelines this slogan and turns his back on the camp of resistance, will be condemned. The Islamic Ummah should keep this clear and fundamental standard in mind everywhere and at all times. Dear guests, brothers and sisters, never lose sight of the enemy\\\\\\\'s plot. Our lack of vigilance creates opportunities for our enemies. The lesson that Ali (greetings be upon him) teaches us is that \\\\\\\"whoever is careless about his cause, his enemy will not sleep over this advantage...\\\\\\\" In this regard, our experience in the Islamic Republic is also a source of lessons. After the victory of the Islamic Revolution in Iran, the arrogant Western governments and America - which had long established full control over Iranian taghuts and used to determine the political, economic and cultural destiny of our country and which had underestimated the enormous power of Islamic faith in society and remained unaware of the power of Islam and the Holy Quran to deploy forces and to guide - suddenly realized that they had been unaware and their governmental organizations, intelligence services and control rooms resumed work in order to make up for the overwhelming defeat they had suffered. We have witnessed various kinds of machinations from them over the past thirty-something years. In essence, there have been two factors that have foiled their plots: insistence on Islamic principles and presence of the people on the scene. These two factors are the key to the problems everywhere. The first factor is guaranteed by sincere religious faith in divine promises and the second factor is guaranteed by sincere efforts and honest clarification. A nation that has faith in the honesty and sincerity of its leaders will bring in enthusiasm with their blessed presence, and wherever a nation stays on the scene with a solid determination, no power will have the capability to defeat it. This is a successful experience for all the nations that gave rise to Islamic Awakening through their presence. The dimensions of this auspicious awakening are widespread and mysterious, but what was witnessed of its immediate outcomes in a few North African countries can make hearts confident about the great and amazing outcomes that will be achieved in the future. Miraculous fulfillment of divine promises is always a hope-inspiring sign that promises the fulfillment of greater promises. The Quranic account of the two promises that Allah the Exalted gave to the mother of Prophet Moses is an example of this divine tactic. The day when Islam achieved victory in Iran and managed to capture the fort of America and Zionism in one of the most important countries in this extremely sensitive region, those who were wise and quick to learn realized that if they had patience and insight, other victories will come one after another. The brilliant truths in the Islamic Republic, which are acknowledged by our enemies, have all been achieved in the shade of trust in divine promises, patience, resistance and asking God for assistance. At this important meeting, which has been attended by a group of religious scholars of the Islamic Ummah from different Islamic countries and denominations, I believe it is appropriate to discuss a few necessary points regarding the issue of Islamic Awakening. The first point is that the earliest waves of awakening in the countries of this region, which started simultaneously with the entry of the pioneers of colonialism, were mainly caused by religion and religious reformers. Similarly, in the contemporary era, the brilliant name of the great Imam Khomeini is shining like a brilliant star at the forefront of the Islamic Revolution. Meanwhile, today and in the past, hundreds of famous religious scholar and thousands of lesser-known religious scholars have played a role in great and small reform movements in different countries. The list of non-cleric religious reformers, such as Hassan al-Banna and Iqbal Lahori, is also long and amazing. Almost everywhere, clerics and theologians have been the intellectual authority and spiritual support for the people and wherever they have appeared in the role of guides and pioneers at the time of great developments and have moved forward in the first rows of popular movements in the face of dangers, the intellectual bond between them and the people has been strengthened and they have played a significant role in showing the path to the people. This is as beneficial to the wave of Islamic Awakening as it is unpleasant and distressing to the enemies of the Islamic Ummah, those who bear grudges against Islam and those who are opposed to the rule of Islamic values, and they are trying to take away this intellectual authority from religious strongholds and create new centers for it. They have learned through experience that they can easily reach a compromise with these centers over national principles and values, and this is something that will never happen in the case of pious religious scholars and devoted religious personalities. This makes the responsibility of religious scholars heavier. One of the greatest calamities is becoming attracted to the lure of worldly wealth. Exposure to the favors of wealthy and powerful people and being indebted to taghuts of lust and power are the most dangerous cause of separation from the people and loss of their trust and friendliness. Self-centeredness and thirst for power, which lure weak individuals towards developing an inclination to poles of power, prepare the ground for involvement in corruption and deviation. Religious scholars and pious men should be extremely vigilant and careful. The second point is the necessity of delineating a long-term goal for Islamic Awakening in Muslim countries, a noble aim that gives orientation to the awakening of nations and helps them reach a certain point. It is through identifying this particular point that one can prepare a roadmap and specify the medium- and short-term goals in it. This final goal cannot be anything less than creating a brilliant Islamic civilization. All parts of the Islamic Ummah - in the form of different nations and countries - should achieve the civilizational position that has been specified in the Holy Quran. The main and the general characteristic of this civilization is that it should allow human beings to utilize all the material and spiritual capacities that Allah the Exalted has bestowed on them and on the world in order to bring about happiness and transcendence for humanity. The surface structure of this civilization can and should be witnessed in popular government, in the laws that have been extracted from the Holy Quran, in identifying and addressing different needs of humanity, in avoidance of rigidity and reactionary attitudes as well as unwarranted innovation and adulteration, in creating public welfare and wealth, in establishing justice, in liberation from an economy that is based on special privileges, usury and taking pride in wealth, in promoting human values, in defending oppressed people in the world, and in hard work and innovation. Adopting an ijtihadi and scholarly outlook on different areas - ranging from humanities to the system of formal education, from economy and banking to technical and technological production, from modern media to art and cinema and to international relations and other areas - are all among the requirements for this civilization-building. Experience has shown that all of these things are possible and within the capacities of Muslim communities. This outlook must not be treated with haste and pessimism. Through religious faith, knowledge, ethics and constant struggle, Islamic civilization can gift advanced thought and noble codes of behavior to the Islamic Ummah and to the entire humanity, and it can be the point of liberation from materialistic and oppressive outlooks and corrupt codes of behavior that form the pillars of current Western civilization. The third point is that in the movements of Islamic Awakening it is necessary to pay constant attention to the bitter and horrifying experience of following the West in politics, behavior and lifestyle. In more than a century of following the culture and politics of the arrogant powers, Muslim countries suffered from deadly calamities such as political dependence and humiliation, economic plights and poverty, decline of moral virtues and ethics and shameful scientific backwardness, and this was while the Islamic Ummah enjoyed a glorious history in all of these areas. This statement must not be interpreted as hostility towards the West. We are not hostile towards any group of human beings because of geographical differences. Currently, we can witness the bullying and interference of America and some of its followers in the region in the countries in which the breeze of awakening has turned into the storm of uprisings and revolutions. Their promises must not affect the decisions and actions of outstanding political personalities and the great movement of the people. In this case as well, we need to learn lessons from our experiences: those who pinned their hopes on the promises of America for years and based their behavior and policies on the inclination towards the oppressor did not manage to resolve any problems of their nations or eliminate an injustice to themselves or to others. By surrendering to America, they did not manage to prevent the demolition of even one single Palestinian home in a territory that belongs to the Palestinians. Currently, this plot is being seriously pursued by intelligence services of the West and Zionism with the help of petrodollars and bribed politicians from East Asia to North Africa and particularly in the Arab region. And the money that could have been spent to bring about happiness for mankind is being used to make threats, excommunicate, assassinate, bomb, shed Muslim blood and to kindle the fire of long-lasting grudges. Those who consider the unified power of Islam as an obstacle in the way of their evil goals have come to the conclusion that fanning the flames of conflicts inside the Islamic Ummah is the easiest way to achieve their satanic goal and they have used differences of opinion in Islamic jurisprudence, kalaam, history and hadith - which are natural and inevitable - as a pretext to excommunicate, shed blood and cause fitna and corruption. A vigilant look at the scene of domestic conflicts clearly reveals the enemy\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\'s hands behind these tragedies. These deceptive hands undoubtedly take advantage of the ignorance, prejudice and superficiality that exists in our societies and they add fuel to the fire. The responsibility of religious and political reformers and outstanding personalities is very heavy in this regard. Currently, Libya, Egypt and Tunisia, Syria, Pakistan, and Iraq and Lebanon are in one way or another involved in or exposed to these dangerous flames. It is necessary to be extremely careful and to look for a remedy. It would be naïve to think that all of these things are due to ideological and ethnic factors and motives. Propaganda campaigns of the West and dependent and mercenary media in the region pretend that the destructive war in Syria is a Shia-Sunni conflict and they create a safety margin for the Zionists and the enemies of resistance in Syria and Lebanon. This is while the two sides of the conflict in Syria are not Shia and Sunni, rather they are the supporters and opponents of anti-Zionist resistance. Neither the Syrian government is a Shia government, nor is the secular and anti-Islam opposition a Sunni group. The only achievement of the plotters of this calamitous scenario is that they have managed to make use of religious sentiments of simple-minded people to kindle this deadly fire. A look at the scene and those who are involved in it at different levels can clarify the issue for any just individual. Also, in the case of Bahrain, this wave of propaganda is spreading lies and deception in another way. In Bahrain, the oppressed majority - who have been deprived of the right to vote as well as other fundamental rights that a nation should enjoy - have risen up to demand their rights. Should this be considered a Shia-Sunni conflict simply because the oppressed majority are Shia and the oppressive secular government pretends to be Sunni? Of course, the European and American colonialists and their friends in the region want to make things appear like this, but what is the truth? These are the things that call religious scholars and just reformers to careful thinking and sense of responsibility and they make identification of the enemies\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\' goals behind highlighting sectarian, ethnic and partisan differences an obligation for everybody. The fifth point is that one of the standards for judging whether Islamic Awakening movements are on the right path is the positions they adopt on the issue of Palestine. Since sixty years ago up until today, the occupation of Palestine has been the biggest tragedy that has been imposed on the Islamic Ummah. Since the first day up until today, the tragedy of Palestine has been a combination of killings, assassinations, destruction, usurpation and transgression against what is held sacred in Islam. The necessity of putting up a resistance against this warring and usurping enemy and fighting him has been agreed upon by all Islamic denominations and all honest and healthy national currents. Any current in Islamic countries which disregards this religious and national responsibility out of consideration for the domineering demands of America or under the pretext of unreasonable justifications should not expect to be viewed as loyal to Islam and sincere in its nationalistic claims. This is a test. Anybody who does not accept the slogan of liberating Holy Quds and saving the Palestinian nation and Palestinian territories or anybody who sidelines this slogan and turns his back on the camp of resistance, will be condemned. The Islamic Ummah should keep this clear and fundamental standard in mind everywhere and at all times. After the victory of the Islamic Revolution in Iran, the arrogant Western governments and America - which had long established full control over Iranian taghuts and used to determine the political, economic and cultural destiny of our country and which had underestimated the enormous power of Islamic faith in society and remained unaware of the power of Islam and the Holy Quran to deploy forces and to guide - suddenly realized that they had been unaware and their governmental organizations, intelligence services and control rooms resumed work in order to make up for the overwhelming defeat they had suffered. We have witnessed various kinds of machinations from them over the past thirty-something years. In essence, there have been two factors that have foiled their plots: insistence on Islamic principles and presence of the people on the scene. These two factors are the key to the problems everywhere. The first factor is guaranteed by sincere religious faith in divine promises and the second factor is guaranteed by sincere efforts and honest clarification. A nation that has faith in the honesty and sincerity of its leaders will bring in enthusiasm with their blessed presence, and wherever a nation stays on the scene with a solid determination, no power will have the capability to defeat it. This is a successful experience for all the nations that gave rise to Islamic Awakening through their presence. I pray to Allah the Exalted to bestow His guidance, assistance and mercy on you and on all Muslim nations.
