[22 July 2012] The holy month of Ramadan begins in Iran - English The Ramadan moon has already been sighted in all Muslim countries; this means the beginning of Muslim month of fasting. In Iran, like other Muslim countries, the fasting month of Ramadan has begun with its special ceremonies and customs. Throughout the month, devout Muslims abstain from food and drinks from dawn until sunset when they break the fast with the Iftar meal. Fasting during this month is often thought figuratively to burn away all sins.
