In a key speech from National Defense University in Washington, U-S President Barack Obama defended assassination drone strikes on Muslim countries as a just war. He outlined a newer standard of deadly drone strikes being carried out in several Muslim countries including Yemen and Pakistan. Obama stayed persistent on a commitment to the so called war on terror that began under former president George W Bush.
The United States is under international pressure to halt its deadly drone strikes. But U-S president Barack Obama defied the pressure and defended the drone attacks. Obama said his administration\'s policy of targeted killings by drones is legal, effective and just. Our correspondent in Washington Colin Cambel has the story.

A must watch clip that puts it all in context.
- Who can dare to destroy an American spy drone with a missile?
- How is it possible for the so-called superpower to not strike back?
- It was a stealth drone, how was it detected by an Iranian radar system?
- How can a comparatively old and obsolete technology missile be so precise to destroy a latest technology drone?
You will find answers to many such questions in 5 minutes of this talk by Dr. Hasan Abbasi.

***MORE DETAILS***
The Iranian Intelligence Ministry says a dismantled espionage ring affiliated to the US Central Intelligence Agency (CIA) had not achieved its goals in Iran.
Heidar Moslehi told Press TV on Sunday that the ministry managed to bust the CIA espionage network with the cooperation of the Iranian people, IRNA reported.
He said that the ministry's proper planning prevented the spy network to achieve its goals, adding, “The most important outcome of our operation was that the United States did not accomplish its objectives in the Islamic Republic.”
The Islamic Republic announced on Saturday that 30 individual have been arrested on charges of sabotage and spying for the US and 42 CIA operatives were identified in connection with the network.
The Iranian intelligence minister stated that the spy-ring was directly taking orders from the CIA, saying that it was headed and operated by top field agents working for the US spy agency.
According to a statement issued by Iran's Intelligence Ministry on Saturday, the network, which was set up by a considerable number of seasoned CIA operatives in several countries, attempted to trick citizens into spying for them under the guise of issuing visa, helping with permanent residency, and making job and study offers.
The CIA operatives had gathered information from "universities and scientific research centers, and in the field of nuclear energy, aerospace, defense and biotechnology industries," part of the statement read.
The spies had also gathered detailed information about the "oil and gas pipelines, telecommunication and electricity networks, airports and customs, the security of the banking and communication systems," by using "US embassies and consulates in several countries particularly "the United Arab Emirates, Turkey and Malaysia."

Bush but have escalated under President Barack Obama.
Press TV has conducted an interview with Naveed Ahmad, defense and diplomacy analyst from Islamabad, to further discuss the issue.

An israeli military drone has crashed in the north of the besieged Gaza Strip. A security source from Palestinian resistance movement, Hamas, says the movement has captured an Israeli drone that was flying over east Jabalia. He did not give further details. Hamas\' military wing, the Ezzedine al-Qassam Brigades on its Twitter account has claimed responsibility for shooting down \"an Israeli mini-drone.\" Tel Aviv has denied this. A CIA spy recently detained in the Islamic Republic has confessed to having been on a mission to infiltrate the Iranian Intelligence Ministry.
According to Press TV, in a televised confession, broadcast on the Iranian television on Sunday night, the operative, named Amir Mirzaei Hekmati, said he joined the US Army in 2001 and underwent decade-long intelligence training.
He added that he was sent to the US-run Bagram Air Base in eastern Afghanistan and given access to classified intelligence before flying to Tehran.
Hekmati of Iranian origin, who was born in the southwestern US state of Arizona, said he intended to win the confidence of the Iranian intelligence apparatus with the information he had been given by the agency.
He said, "It was CIA's plan to first burn some useful information, give it to them (the Iranians) and let Iran's Intelligence Ministry think that this is good material".
Iran says its networks, tasked with monitoring the activities in the Bagram base, had learned about Hekmati there and thwarted the operation.
This is not the first time Iran has arrested CIA spies. On May 30, members of a CIA espionage and sabotage network were arrested by the Iranian Intelligence Ministry.

U-S President Barack Obama has told Congress his country should not impose new sanctions on Iran if it is serious in negotiations with Tehran over its nuclear energy program. Obama-- who has been speaking to reporters in his last press briefing of the year-- has refreshed his warnings that any new sanctions against Iran could derail the current diplomatic efforts to resolve the differences with Iran.
Obama says he understands why some U-S lawmakers want to \\\"look tough\\\" on Iran. But he says the U-S must give diplomacy a chance. Obama has further repeated threats that the U-S keeps all options on the table regarding Iran if it fails to comply to the terms of the nuclear deal that Tehran signed with the permanent members of the U-N Security Council plus Germany last month.
Obama says any alternative to the path of diplomacy toward Iran would have unintended consequences for the US. And he added that it would be in the interests of the American people to resolve the Iran issue diplomatically. Obama\\\'s remarks come a day after Congress put a bill on the floor to slap new sanctions on Iran if it breaches the terms of the nuclear deal reached in Geneva last month. The new sanctions would also force the U-S administration to support Israel militarily, diplomatically, and economically in the event Tel Aviv decided to launch an attack on Iran\\\'s nuclear sites.
