But progress in rebuilding areas devastated by the offensive has been slow, and security is still tight.
People there have told Al Jazeera that government handouts are too little and too hard to get hold of.

Imam Khomeini (r.a) continued his struggle during his 15 years stay in Iraq. He was instructed by the government of Iraq to halt his involvement in Political involvement. Imam (r.a) replied that he is carrying out his religious obligation. He then migrated to France and continued his journey of awakening the Ummah. This documentary states some of the difficulties and pressure that the late Imam had to go through but his persistence and strong belief in Allah (s.w.t) helped him to stay steadfast.
The late Imam (r.a) and his movement is a lesson for us and all the Islamic scholars. May his soul rest in peace.
This movement of awakening started by Imam Khomeini (r.a) still continues under the leadership of our Leader, Wali Amr Muslimeen, Ayatullah Sayyed Ali Khamenei (h.a). This movement (nehzat) sets a stage for the reappearance of our Master and Maula Imam Mahdi (a.t.f.s). May our lives be sacrificed for Imam Al-Hujja, Imam Sahib al Asr e Wazzaman, Baqiatullah, Imam Mahdi (a.s).

Saudi Arabia Kidnapped Shahram Amiri for CIA, Muslim Brotherhood
Missing Iranian scientist Shahram Amiri has taken refuge in the Iranian interests section of the Pakistani embassy in Washington.
Here is a chronology of events since he disappeared in June last year.
June 2009
The scientist, in his early 30s, disappears while undertaking the Hajj pilgrimage in the Saudi Arabian city of Mecca, soon after telephoning his wife in Iran.
7 September 2009
The Iranian government announces Mr Amiri has disappeared. Referring to the scientist only as an "Iranian citizen", Iran's semi-official Fars news agency suggests he is being held in Riyadh, the Saudi capital, and says it holds the Saudi authorities "accountable" for his disappearance.
The agency quotes Mr Amiri's wife as complaining that Saudi Arabia was unable to safeguard pilgrims' security during visits to holy sites in the country.
29 September 2009
Iranian Foreign Minister Manouchehr Mottaki publicly suggests for the first time that Mr Amiri is being held by the US authorities.
Meanwhile, the Saudi-owned al-Sharq al-Awsat newspaper reports that Mr Amiri has sought asylum in Saudi Arabia.
Mystery over Iranian researcher
December 2009
At a news conference, Mr Mottaki accuses the US of abducting Mr Amiri, citing "existing pieces of evidence that we have at our disposal".
"We expect the American government to return him," he says.
Mr Mottaki and the speaker of Iran's parliament, Ali Larijani, accuse Saudi Arabia of complicity in the alleged abduction, saying he was taken from Saudi soil.
The Saudis deny the accusation and the US government declines to comment on the issue.
"We are aware of the Iranian claims," US state department spokesman Philip Crowley says. "I have no information on that."
Iranian scientist 'held by US'
31 March 2010
US television network ABC reports that Mr Amiri has defected to the CIA and has settled in the US, citing anonymous officials briefed by intelligence agents.
ABC says the scientist has been extensively debriefed and has helped to confirm US intelligence assessments about the Iranian nuclear programme.
Iranian scientist 'defects to US'
7 June 2010
A man claiming to be Mr Amiri appears in a video posted online, claiming he was kidnapped by CIA agents during the Hajj.

"They took me to a house located somewhere that I didn't know," he says in the video. "They gave me an anaesthetic injection."
He says he is living in Tucson, Arizona, and says he has been subjected to eight months of "the most severe tortures and psychological pressures".
But another video message appears on YouTube on the same day, recorded apparently by the same man, entirely contradicting this version of events.
In this video, he says he is in the US to continue his education, adding: "I am free here and I assure everyone that I am safe."
He says he is "not involved in weapons research and have no experience and knowledge in this field".
Videos worsen Iran scientist row
29 June 2010
A man claiming to be Mr Amiri resurfaces on another video shown on Iranian state television, this time claiming he has escaped from US custody in the US state of Virginia and is in hiding.
"Presently, I am producing this video in a safe place," he says.
"I could be re-arrested at any time."
Iran scientist 'flees US captors'
13 July 2010
Mr Amiri turns up in the Iranian interests section of the Pakistani embassy in Washington and demands to go back to Iran.
Iranian state radio reports that Mr Amiri has said in a telephone interview from inside the Iranian interest section that he has been "under enormous psychological pressure and supervision of armed agents in the past 14 months".

Desmarais said while soluble sodium fluoride has traditionally proved easy to dissolve and add to the water supply, in recent years he is found that 40 percent of the product they have been buying will not dissolve, and he does not know why. Desmarais has sent the material out for testing on two separate occasions, but had no luck in determining what it contained. He has sent it back to the supplier and had a better quality product delivered following the complaint. But the next delivery presents with the same problem, he said.
Never mind the fluoride toxicity issue. We all know about that.

This is a ‘meccan’ surah.
Imam Ja’far as-Sadiq (as) urged believers to recite this surah in their prayers as it is the surah of Imam Hussein (as) and the one who recites it often will be in the company of Imam Hussein (as) on the Day of Judgement.
It is narrated from the Holy Prophet (s) that the one who recites this surah, ALLAH (swt) will forgive his sins amounting to ten times the number of people who recite this surah. On the Day of Reckoning he will have a shining light. If this surah is written as a talisman and then tied to one’s back, after which he goes into his wife, then ALLAH (s.w.t.) will give him a child who will be a means of pride and blessings for him.

This is a ‘meccan’ surah.
It is narrated from Imam Ja’far as-Sadiq (as) that frequent recitation of this surah is a protection from Jinn and the reciter will be in the company of the Holy Prophet (saw) on the Day of Resurrection. This surah also protects one from the evil actions of an unjust person. Prisoners secure early release by reciting this surah and those who recite it properly will never face poverty or starvation. Keeping this surah in one’s possession ensures safety from the Jinn, victory in debate or confrontation, and safety of possession and wealth. Debts are also easily paid back.

Demonstrations took place around the country Friday in support of the mass protests in Egypt this week. At the National Press Club in Washington, Egyptian leaders gathered to ask the White House to stand with the Egyptian people in their demands to the nation's government.
The United States has expressed its firm support for the Mubarak regime and although vague expressions of concern for the freedoms of the Egyptian people have been made, an outright denunciation of Hosni Mubarak is yet to be heard. Dr. Samia Harris of the Alliance of Egyptian Americans had this message for Vice President Joe Biden in response to his affirmation of the Mubarak government.
Egyptian rights activist Dr. Saad Eddin Ibrahim called the events in Egypt as a revolution, and in response to a question about the impact of revolution on the United States' so-called War on Terror, he had this to say:
After the press conference, demonstrators rallied in front of the White House to make their demands known. These include withdrawing military and economic aid from Egypt, which is the second highest recipient of foreign aid from the U.S. after Israel, at an annual $2 billion.
Though the world's eye is currently transfixed on Egypt, these demonstrators turn to the White House in demanding an end of U.S. support for the Mubarak regime.

This is a “meccan” surah.
In the commentary of Majma’ul Bayan it is narrated from the Holy Prophet (saw) that the reward for reciting this surah is ten times the number of moving winds or breezes.
Imam Ja’far as-Sadiq (as) has said that recitation of this surah increases ones sustenance and makes it easy to earn. Drinking water in which this surah was dissolved (after being written) acts as a remedy for back problems (e.g. backaches). If a pregnant woman wears a talisman of surah adh-Dhariyat, her pregnancy and delivery will be easy. Keeping this surah close to a dying person makes his death easy.

This is a “meccan” surah.
This surah mentions details of the Day of Judgement when everyone will be questioned about their deeds in this world.
The Holy Prophet (saw) has said that the one who recites this surah will not get his/her book of deeds from his back on the Day of Reckoning. If written and worn by a pregnant woman, the delivery of the baby becomes easy. However, it is important that after delivery, this surah should be kept away from her. If this surah is tied on any animal (e.g. camels or horses) then it keeps them safe.

As protests in Egypt enter a third week, thousands of demonstrators are keeping up the pressure on President Hosni Mubarak to step down. Cairo's main square has seen a mass sit-in, but crowds are being pushed back by the army to get traffic moving. Banks and some businesses are now re-opening, but schools remain closed and the night curfew is still in force. President Mubarak has ordered a reform committee to be set up with the task of changing the constitution. Meanwhile, the country's vice-president is being courted by the U.S to replace Mubarak. But as RT's Paula Slier reports, Washington is considered a questionable mediator in Egypt itself.

Egyptian President Hosni Mubarak, in a TV address, has said that he does not plan to step down, angering pro-democracy protesters in the country who had urged his immediate resignation.
Mubarak stated that he will never leave Egypt in the face of 17 tumultuous days of public protests, provoking outbursts of anger from protesters at Cairo's' Liberation square, who prior to the speech had created dramatic scenes of jubilation as they expected Mubarak to declare his resignation, a Press TV correspondent reported.
The embattled president once again asserted that he will not stand as candidate for the upcoming elections, and that he was transferring some powers to Vice President Omar Suleiman.
He further acknowledged that his government had made mistakes and expressed sorrow for those killed in the demonstrations, promising that those responsible for the killings would be punished.
"I don't feel embarrassment in holding talks with the youths and creating dialog," said Mubarak, adding that "the protesters' blood will not be in vain."
Meanwhile, Vice President Omar Suleiman made a speech during which he called on Egyptians youth to to go back home and resume work.
The protesters took off their shoes and brandished them at the screen on which they had seen Mubarak's speech, and shouted "Down with Mubarak, leave, leave!"
Others called for an immediate general strike and called on army -- which has deployed large numbers of troops around the square -- to support the Egyptian nation, instead of Mubarak's “illegitimate” regime.
"Egyptian army, the choice is now, the regime or the people,” the protesters chanted.
Meanwhile, a Press TV correspondent said that furious crowds of people at Cairo's' Liberation Square, which has become the focal point of pro-democracy demonstrations, are moving toward Mubarak's palace to vent out their outrage at the decision.
Reports say more than 300 people have been killed by security forces and thousands injured since the beginning of the revolution on January 25.
