U-S military aircraft fly over the disputed islands in the East China Sea without informing Beijing. The move comes days after China declared an air defense zone in the area. The Pentagon\'s spokesman says two U-S military aircraft have conducted operations over the islands disputed by China and Japan. Steve Warren says U-S aircraft carried out QUOTE normal procedures in the area. Under the rules declared by China, aircraft are expected to provide a flight plan, clearly mark their nationality and maintain two-way radio communication to allow them to respond to identification inquiries from Chinese authorities. The East China Sea includes a cluster of islands controlled by Japan but also claimed by China.

A territorial dispute between China and Japan seems to be far from over. In the latest development, Beijing has sent four coastguard vessels to the disputed islands in the East China Sea. The move follows Beijing\'s mention of war after Tokyo approved a plan to shoot down Chinese drones if they fly over Japan\'s airspace. China has threatened to take firm countermeasures, if Japan fires on its drones. Japanese Prime Minister Shinzo Abe has accused China of trying to change the status quo in the region by force, adding that\'s why Tokyo is expected to take a leadership role over regional security issues. The relations between the two Asian powerhouses have been strained particularly over a group of disputed islands-- known as Senkaku in Japan and Diaoyu in China. Both countries claim sovereignty rights over the uninhabited resource-rich islands that are currently under Tokyo\'s control.

Therefore, responsible actions must be taken for Lebanon to confront this threat\\\\\\\". In Qatar, a top court upholds a 15-year jail term for a poet who criticized Arab regimes in the Persian Gulf for crushing pro-democracy protests. Qatar\'s Court of Cassation confirmed the sentence given to Muhammad Ibn al-Dheeb al-Ajami by an appeals court in February. The ruling is the final verdict from the highest court in the country. His lawyer has described the sentence as a political decision. Ajami was arrested in November 2011 and is accused of insulting the Emir of Qatar. Ajami\'s poem criticizes the ruling families for being dependent on US forces for the glory of their country instead of relying on their own people. Qatar is home to a major US military base.

The Taliban have admitted that they hid the death of their former leader Mullah Omar for two years. The group says the news had to be kept secret until foreign forces left Afghanistan. The Taliban confirmed in July that Omar died but did NOT clarify the date. Many insurgents have accused the top leadership of keeping them in the dark while issuing statements in his name. The cover-up was explained in a biography of new Taliban chief Mullah Akhtar Mansour. The Taliban apparently came under pressure to confirm the death after the Afghan spy agency revealed that he died two years ago in a Karachi hospital.
